    Informative and Interesting
Really great tour - informative and interesting. There was a lot of history shared but our guide, Raymond, made it accessible and went well beyond people and dates making the information relevant and come alive. Would absolutely recommend!

Hungarian history tour with a personal touch
Excellent grasp of Hungary's past in the midst of the various storms in history in the area; not overly tendentious in any political direction, but open & franc with own opinions without being judgemental

    I recommend it.
Interesting tour, even for someone who knows quite something about it. As they already state in the description of the company itself, there's not very many sights to see with this tour; it is more an extended lecture and talk on a couple of locations. Small groups, which make it possible to interact with the tour guide and ask all your questions.

A Rare Opportunity Not To Be Missed
This conversation was the best experience we had during a packed week in Budapest. To have a deep discussion with a Hungarian citizen with such depth of knowledge of not only her own country but of the world, was a rare and wonderful opportunity. This experience will vary depending on what each visitor brings to the table so I recommend some overview of the history of Hungary and Budapest prior to your meeting to make the best use of your time. Ninety minutes goes by fast. The National History Museum and a tour of the Great Synagogue on Dohany St. were helpful for us but even a quick encyclopedia review would work. Plus, we got a great recommendation for lunch. If you are in Budapest, in part, to learn more of its history, its people and its present challenges, do not miss this tour.

Amazing historical and local point of view of the city, history came to life! Such a great tour!
Amazing guided tour, with lots of sightseeing, history, and local culture. Judit was our guide and she is a very knowledgeable person, a good storyteller that makes history a fascinating thing. Having her as our guide made me appreciate the city even more. This tour was a very fun and intriguing experience - history came to life as we walked passed the most famous places. Having such a small and intimate group helped this feel like a hike with a group of friends, we got the chance to ask any question and decide the best route for us - like it was tailored-made for our interests and desires. I highly recommend this guided tour, as it was very informative and I could get to know the city - all of its history and hidden gems, not just a basic sightseeing but rather a more meaningful experience. Thank you so much for a lovely time! Highly appreciated!

Excellent Tour of the Buda Castle District
Greg was a superb guide. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Showed us secrets of the castle which we wouldn't have otherwise known about. 10/10 would use again.

Loved our tour with the extremely knowledgable local historian Noémi
Our guide Noémi was absolutely brilliant - a local historian who customized the private tour entirely to our interests. She began with a history overview lesson which put everything into context as she showed the different sites, she had picture aids to show, and she was extremely knowledgable with lots of gems of great stories. She made comprehensible the very complex history of Budapest in a way that was sensible and clear. She answered all our questions about day-to-day life. This is truly one of the best tours anywhere in the world we've experienced!

Outstanding tour of Buda Castle district
Our family of 7 booked this tour with Greg (Gergely) Molnar in English because some in our party only speak English, and it was the perfect overview of the Castle district. We were all very impressed with Gergely's ability to summarize thousands of years of history in just a couple of hours, as well as his calm demeanor, all the while guiding us through some of the lesser known parts of the castle district as well. While the tour can be long simply because there is so much to see and talk about in this stretch of the city of Buda, we did not feel rushed at any point, and were extremely satisfied with all there is to see and explore in this wonderful part of Budapest. Having a bit of background while taking in the sites has always been of great importance to us when traveling, and, having taken many many tours in our lifetime all over the world, I can safely say this was one of the most pleasant and informative ones to date. Big thank you to Gergely for making this an experience and city to remember!

Let me begin by saying that our guide, Aron, was a superb guide whose love for Hungary and hope for a better future was evident throughout the entire tour. He began with the history and politics of Hungary to give us a perspective to appreciate how the lives of the Jews deteriorated in the years leading up to WWII. As we set off on the tour, we could tell immediately how much Aron enjoyed leading the tour. He shared a multitude of historical vignettes, that were sprinkled with personal anecdotes that he delivered passionately. Each site, each memorial, and each street that we visited held special meaning that Aron eagerly shared with us. Engaging, articulate, exceedingly knowledgeable and eager to field questions about almost any subject about Hungary are all qualities of an excellent guide that Aron possesses. Our tour extended beyond the allocated time as time flew by before any of us noticed. And we all left the tour sharing Aron's hope that through action and free speech, we can work together to make this world better and prevent repeating the mistakes of the past. Shalom.

We began our time in Budapest with the most wonderful Jewish History walking tour with Noémi Csutak from Budapest Explorers.
Noémi is extremely knowledgable, enthusiastic and passionate, and she led our nine person tour with tremendous expertise.

I was so impressed that I booked Noémi for a four hour private tour for my traveling companion and myself for the following day.

I had come to Budapest in search of aspects of my ancestry, as well as wanting to research certain things pertaining to Jewish history in Budapest. I provided Noémi with a list of subjects and she diligently researched them overnight and was able to share plenty of facts on our private tour.

In summary, Budapest Explorers is an excellent choice for tourists and travellers wishing to see Budapest with friendly, knowledgeable and exceptionally kind and fun guides.

Real cultural tour with a nice local guide! Very recommended!
Zsolt was our guide, he is very welcoming and very knowledgeable.
We were a small group, which meant we could go to more synagogues and see even more special Jewish-related spots around the city.
The tour was very informative, with a lot of emphasis on the Jewish community's history.
I highly recommend this guided tour, I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of new things. Great value for money.

Our Budapest Explorers tour with Balazs Levay was one of the best experiences of our trip to Budapest. He is not only a walking encyclopedia of knowledge, but clearly he loves sharing the history of his city with visitors, and he made us all feel like we were his special guests. The history of the Jews in Budapest is something we all need to know about. I highly recommend this walking tour!

My wife and I agreed this tour was very informative and educational about the Jewish Heritage in Hungry. The citizens of Hungry and Jewish Community should be quite proud of what they have accomplished considering how many times they were conquered. All of our questions were answered and our final stop was at a Synagogue with some very unique designs. The 1 hr. lecture and 3 hr. walking tour went by very quickly. It provided us a greater understanding of Hungry’s history and how the Jewish Community played such a vital role in its rebuilding/prosperous years. We will never forget the young informative tour-guide. Wish we got her mom’s goulash recipe.

Excellent tour! Daniel was our guide and he explained the plight of the Jewish people in the most understandable way. It was more of a conversation than a lecture, like so many other tours can be. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything in a simplistic but detailed manner so that everyone would be interested. It was possibly the best tour we have ever been on, certainly the most memorable. This tour is highly recommended.

My wife and I did the walking tour of the Jewish quarter with Balazs Levay on July 2nd. We had already done quite a bit of self guided touring on the Buda side for few days so were ready to tackle Pest. I do like the small group size limit for the obvious reasons, and Balazs has great command of the english language as well as great insight into all the aspects of the tour. We had also just picked up the Budapest guide book by Torok at our hotel, and Balazs knows the author and quite familiar with this incredible book that reveals so much more than any of the mainstream guides that we have seen. We learned so much about Hungarian culture and history, and not just as it pertains to the Jewish quarter. Amazing guide and amazing things to see, we can highly recommend.
