About the operator

- U2594CPrebeccah0 contributionsGreat afternoon with the lovely Barna!I was visiting Budapest with 10 colleagues and we went on the afternoon language and culture course with Barna. Barna was fantastic, he has great local knowledge and pointed out key buildings of interest on our walk to the restaurant. We had a lovely meal of home cooked local food. The restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was in a lovely setting below street level. Barna taught us some basic Hungarian and we had great fun trying to master the tongue twisters he had prepared! I would definitely recommened!Written November 28, 2024
- pancakesisters90 contributionsGO Art NouveauThis was a marvelous introduction to this historic city with dozens of Art Nouveau buildings, which are hiding in plain sight. Our guide Barna was welcoming, passionate and extremely knowledgeable about Art Nouveau. He provided historic context for the each of the properties - hotels, apartment buildings, public buildings, thermal baths, etc. Together we crisscrossed the city, hopping on subways and trams and lots of walking. Wear your most comfortable walking shoes as this is a 3 hour tour and you will truly discover many aspects of Budapest. Before you go, download the Budapest GO transit app to your smartphone, as it’s easy to use. The transit system is clearly marked and a great way to get around Budapest.Written October 14, 2024
- davidgF2601AS0 contributionsIncreasing Knowledge of Budapest HistorySuch a helpful, inspiring tour! Barna was incredibly courteous and full of stories about his unique native country. I wanted to know about Budapest’s history in regards to the Cold War. Any question I asked about the USSR, he had an answer or a tale to tell. He showed me spots where the ‘56 Revolution went down. He explained what was happening and why. He provided me a variety of films to check out. Plenty of good restaurant options, as well! We started in Pest, walked across the bridge to Buda, took the metro back to Pest. I learned a lot and was overly intrigued! Thanks again!Written September 24, 2024
- Claude M0 contributionsBargain Hunters Paradise! A trip to the past in Hungry outskirts. If you love Antiques you can't miss this place! It's so worthy to take a taxi from town and spend a morning there. The amount of objects is unbelievable, and the prices are a bargain in some cases. The place have seen better days but if you are a bargain hunter this is the place!Written September 19, 2024
- 751sallys0 contributionsExcellent Jewish TourGabriella was amazing! She was so well informed and took us to places off the beaten path This was one of the best tours I have been on in budapest I would definitely go on this tour Please request GabriellaWritten September 19, 2024
- sarahsalmon4730 contributionsA Budapest adventureA wonderful tour, organised by Miklos but with Argi as our guide. Argi was so knowledgeable and with lots of interesting anecdotes. We went on buses, tubes, trams and chairlift.... An excellent and very worthwhile tour. Thank you MiklosWritten August 12, 2024
- robertlQ4279UD0 contributionsA Talented tour guide and lovely tour!We met Anna just outside our hotel (Intercontinental). She had been inside looking for us. We finally connected and began the tour. She spoke English beautifully with a perfect command of the language. When the tour is labled private, that's exactly what they mean. The only people there were myself, my wife and Anna! It felt like we walked all over Pest, but we stopped frequently whenever we wanted. As my wife and I are in our late 70's, this was more frequent then she was probably used to. To her credit, the pace was perfect for all. Her knowledge was Encyclopedic. Any detail we pointed out or questioned was responded to quickly with loads of facts. We stopped for coffee at a small cafe and enjoyed the break. We saw three synagogues (there are over 20 in Budapest), by far the most impressive was the Dohany Synagogue (or the Grand Synagogue). The admission fees are not included in the tour. Do not fail to see the interior of this beautiful temple, it is worth every penny. Anna is a wonderful and talented host.Written May 25, 2024
- Eorchant0 contributionsWonderful, informative tour!Wonderful experience! Kata was our guide and she was terrific. She gave us so much information about the history of theJewish community, including personal experiences from her family. She was able to pace the tour to fit our needs. We were very happy that we chose this tour. And it’s worth adding the shoes on the Danube!Written May 6, 2024
- Excursion6699750 contributionsGood tour of Memento Park - and more.We went to Memento Park with the guide. It was an excellent tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Both before and after touring the park we spent quite a bit of time talking about the history of Hungary in the 20th century and learned a great deal. He is very knowledgeable and willing to share his experience with you.Written May 3, 2024
- G4872XWjeanneg0 contributionsHighlight of our time in Budapest! What a spectacular way to learn about Hungary and Communism through the eyes of a person who lived through it. Spending over 3 hours walking and talking we were able to ask questions and get to know a wonderful man with so much to share. We highly recommend this tour. It personalizes Budapest and its people. Books, maps and a large group tour does not compare to this personal experience.Written March 20, 2024
- X5385RGchristineg0 contributionsDifferent aspects of art nouveau at its bestWe enjoyed it so much. It‘s so much better to have a guide who knows about the topic and also loves it and not just learned it by heart Thank you so much Miklos Tim and ChristineWritten January 13, 2024
- 661jend0 contributionsProfessor of Private Tours - Truly Rich History!I am grateful to have met the Fungarian my first day arriving in Budapest. His guidance on the metro and city was excellent for exploring on my own for the duration of my trip. The in-depth education on the Jewish history truly rounded out the richness and complexity of Hungary and Budapest's development. If people are unaware of the impact from the Jewish community, they are truly missing the full story. The Fungarian is an excellent teacher!Written January 11, 2024
- pn2870 contributionsExcellent informative and interestingExcellent, informative well rounded. Miklòs has extensive knowledge of and feeling for the Jewish history of Budapest. It was neither narrow nor linear but added contextual cultural artistic and contemporary political material into a tour of the essential sites of this once great community. Though tragically obliterated Miklòs brought a lost world back to life for us. P&DWritten January 5, 2024
- lmccreery0 contributionsAn enriching, in-depth, and enjoyable tour. This tour is not to be missed! The other reviews say it better than I can, and they're absolutely right.Written November 23, 2023
- Departure2962840 contributionsLearn to look up in Budapest!Fungararian is a retired history professor with a wealth of knowledge he enjoys sharing. The tour included use of the Metro and trams (useful as it was our first day in town). This allowed us to visit many of the most glamorous buildings in town and generally got us oriented to the city. We learned the primary features of Art nouveau so I'm sure I'll recognize it in the future. He was very accommodating through the tour and even asked if we wanted to add on an extra 30 minutes to see two additional buildings. The stained glass windows at the end of the tour were spectacular! You will see the city through different eyes after this tour!Written October 28, 2023

Great tour as usual. Thanks Miklos! It was a great day seeing the children’s railway as well as a typical communist era apartment.

The Children's (ex Pioneers') Railway is such a curiosity with its charm and history. Home visits at a looked down on housing estate can give one a real picture how actually people live. I am glad you liked it. Miklós
