It proved really important to book well ahead. Our only choice upon arrival in Budapest was the 8:15 tour...only spaces available in English until July 3! The guide was good. The security at the beginning was really slow unfortunately. If you are older or have difficulty with stairs, use the optional elevator. We didn't realise there would be over 150 stairs, with some of the flights not even having a bannister. The building is beautiful and well worth the inconveniences of ordering tickets in advance, waiting, etc. Just plan ahead!

Was a very beautiful building. The tour only really went for half an hour. We spent 45 minutes getting picked up from hotel and transfer to meeting hotel and then the waiting for bus to parliament. Had to laugh -the bus that took us to the parliament virtually went past our hotel we were picked up from 40 minutes before. If you got yourself there you would have saved $70 of the $132 dollars the tour cost. Only catch is tickets there often sell out and you can they in

The tour was interesting but neither of us felt it was worth the price. Our English speaking guide was very hard to hear even though we were using headsets. Lots of walking because the building is huge. Use the bathroom before you go because they charge for the toilet even if you just wash your hands.

We were on a cruise boat so we had to travel to the Intercontinental Hotel to start the tour. The van driver almost ran over a bicyclist who was delivering pizzas. The guide was hard to understand as we drove around a few sights in Budapest before arriving at the Parliament. The guide then purchased the tickets and bought for a German group, not an English group, which caused a problem with the boxes we were given. At this point, the guide had left and we were on our own to resolve the issue. The man at the Parliament was very nice and straightened everything out. Skip the tour, but the tickets directly and enjoy the Parliament without the tour guide, who was worse than useless.

One of the best indoor places to visit and definitely must experience at least once. The tour is actually given by the Parliament (not your tour guide).
They are timed approximately 50 minutes tours in language groups with limited numbers allowed in each group. My tour was in English & German. You go through airport like security screening and given headsets. Tours are strictly guided through one directional stopping points. There are security guards in front and behind your group and in every room. You can take flash photos/videos everywhere except no photography is allowed in the dome/crown room. We were there for the changing of the guards protecting the royal crown, which was an interesting ceremonial change.
The Con: Skip Paying for a Tour. I was disappointed (and more than a little irritated) that I paid for a hotel pick up and a tour guide and this tour only to be picked up in a taxi to be taken to the tour office to wait for a tour van to basically be dropped off at the Parliament. I wont say "scam" because that would be harsh. BUT The paid tour as advertised basically takes you there, goes to get your ticket & babysits you until the line opens. Parliament guides do the actual tour.
You can make your own way cheaply on foot, by tram or by taxi to the Parliament and get your own ticket. Everyone speaks English or several languages, the prices and signs are clearly explained and you dont waste your money paying a tour guide who basically does nothing except make small talk enroute and while you wait.
Plus side. Go earlier than the tour time you wish and walk around the magnificent statues and buildings outside and then spend some time after your tour ends in the different exhibits.
Unless this is included as part of another well organized sightseeing activity, skip paying for a separate tour and book directly at the Parliament website or go yourself to the Parliament and get your very affordable ticket.

I booked this tour, because the English speaking tour of the Parliament was fully booked on their website. Don’t be put off by it, you can still buy tickets in the ticket office on the day even 5 minutes before the tour starts!
I booked with this company because they seemed to have the 9am tour available. I paid and then they messaged me to say that 9 wasn’t available. I had to choose another time. Opted in for 1pm. It was a major waste of time. We were picked up from our hotel at 12.30pm, but to my surprise not taken to the Parliament, we were taken to the Intercontinental hotel lobby where we had to wait 25 minutes for the coach to be taken to the Parliament. Our hotel was literally 3 min drive, so a walking distance. We then spent about 10 min on the coach driving to the Parliament when the English speaking guide was talking about buildings we saw on the way. We couldn’t understand the guide unfortunately and it was actually painful listening to her as she sounded like she was on her last breaths. She then took us inside the Parliament and again talked for 10 min, but we couldn’t understand her. She then proceeded to go to the ticket desk and bought our tickets for 1.30pm Parliament tour (not 1pm!). That’s 1 hour of our time wasted faffing. We could have walked there ourselves enjoying the sites by the river.
At 1.30 we still had to queue to get in, so this ticket doesn’t give you a fast track entry on any other benefit. When we entered the Parliament with our actual tickets, it was fantastic as the their tour guide described everything in an interesting way and was a pleasure to listen to. The Parliament itself is very impressing and interesting, so I thoroughly recommend going in.
Don’t bother with this tour and buy tickets directly.

Our trip to this stunning place was marred by awful and rude staff in the Café (we wanted a cup of hot water as my friend needed to rehydrate and wanted hot water - we were refused!).
The guide was clearly very knowledgably but the audio was APPALLING. The first head set was crackly; I swapped it (so did many others) to no avail. Could not hear what she was saying and it totally spoiled the tour. It was impossible to turn up the volume (it was on its highest) and there was another group in front of us and all you could hear was the drone of their guide talking in Italian.

We had an English speaking tour guide, who was very entertaining. It made the tour interesting along with just looking at the amazing structure, stained glass windows. The story of the brass cigar holders was interesting. . The tour offered a picturesque view of the Danube from the window. At the center is the crown of Stephen of Hungary. That in itself was interesting and how it was returned to Hungary .

If you email the tour operators direct, they will be able to tell you. We had the option of getting picked up at our hotel or the travel agent at the Inter Continental. We chose the Inter Continental because it was just around the corner. Hope this helps

Do the tickets have to be printed? Or is an electronic copy ok?

I believe that a hard copy of the ticket is required (paper copy) we booked through a company and the Rep had to go to the ticket booth to obtain tickets for the whole group. Also everyone in the queue had paper tickets. However no harm in checking with the venue directly.

I was told you must take the tour, I saw no tourists going solo or otherwise not on a tour. The tour was great, it set the history in context.
I just booked the parliament tour for June 5 at 9:30 but did not receive a confirmation email because it appears it is being sent to the wrong email address. Can this be corrected on line so I can print the ticket as required?

If you have your Tour Providers email address contact them ASAP to see if they are able to amend the email address, alternatively see if you can find a phone number and speak to someone, as they may need various information from you before changing the email address to enable you to receive the link and print off the tickets. Good luck and enjoy the tour.

I am trying to book for an English speaking tour on 17 August - am but the site does not accept the date. How far out are bookings available please?
Poppet75
Brighton, UK36 contributions
As far as I am aware there is no time stipulation regarding booking in advance, probably better to do so, as popular language tours get booked up (ie English tours may have all been sold on the day you require, with the company you chose)
Have you tried Parlamento Budapest, they offer tours in English, at various times during the day, as do Viator, just look on line there are many sites who will offer English tours.
Or of course you may just want to go along to the parliament direct and buy tickets on the day, which is always a cheaper option, however you do take a chance.Good luck!
