    Informative and enjoyable
Anna was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the Jewish Community of Budapest extremely well. She was a lovely person and explained everything as we walked around. Definately worth doing, made it all enjoyable despite the cold! Thank you

    We learned so much!
There is so much to see when visiting the extraordinary city of Budapest. Our tour helped us to better understand the history and architecture of the region. Our tour guide was delightful and very knowledgeable. She was prompt and provided us with an amazing overview of the art nouveau movement. We were able to see and experience so many buildings and neighborhoods during our tour. Would highly recommend.

A wonderful cultural and historical tour
This tour was amazing! Our guide, Orsolya, was so very knowledgable and provided us with so many historical facts and cultural details. We walked away from this experience with a better understanding of the Jewish experience in Budapest. The sites and museums were interesting, and having a guide explaining things to us was such a great addition to the overall experience and provided a deeper meaning to the standard tourist experience. Orsolya happily answered questions, and was able to direct us to other points of interest in Budapest.

To learn how digestive communism was in Hungary
We had a wonderful time in our tour. Andras Is extremely knowledgeable and had so much to share with us. Before we started our tour he asked us what we were most interested in learning about communism to make sure we would leave the tour extremely happy. This tour is great for adults, history enthusiasts and even children. Andras was able to make the tour interesting not only for the adults who had more background on the topics covered as well as for the young who needed a bit of introduction to what we would cover in the tour. Hungary is extremely interesting and different to what you usually learn was communism in school books and this tour was wonderful to help us learn about Hungary!

    Great tour! Good value!
Absolutely loved this tour with our tour guide, Kata! She did an amazing job showing us many interesting aspects of the Buda Castle district. This was by far one of the best tours that we took in Budapest! We got great value for our money. Greatly recommend this tour and especially Kata as the tour guide!

    More than a tour
Zsuzsa was so bright and knowledgeable. We talked about history, art, architecture, language and politics. Our trip to Budapest would not have been the same without this very special 3 hours we spent together. We saw layers of history and atmosphere that were hidden in plain site. It was so much more than just a tour of buildings. We can't recommend this experience highly enough.

I don't recommend this particular tour.
Super disappointed with this tour. Really didn't learn much at all, and didn't seem like our tour guide, Valeria was very passionate for what she was doing. She would point to things and more/less say you can go visit these places later. We could hardly hear what she was saying and that's standing close to her. She used a little speaker thing that hung around her neck, but again really couldn't hear. Seems like she also always stopped at places that were noisy to talk (ie, a band playing loudly in the background, church bells going off. Would have been better if she stood elsewhere to deliver what ever she had to say). I felt it was a total waste of our time, and I have been on free walking tours before that have been wonderful. PS. the 2nd sentence out of her mouth when we met her is how we should tip, that was a turn off to address right out of the shoot.

    Fantastic Tour, Wonderful Guide
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The main focus was the city's surprisingly rich and deep coffee house culture. We visited a whole slew of old and often restored cafes and even ate pastries at one of them. But our guide - Orsi- was so knowledgeable that I feel like we got multiple tours in one. A Budapest native, she wove in information about the city's Jewish history (she had an advanced degree in the subject), architecture, restoration efforts, Hungarian wine and her own family's experiences before and after communism. We got a big kick out of her funny and often irreverent anecdotes and urban legends. Wonderful person and so easy to hear and understand. Highly recommend!

    Great walking tour of Buda
We had a great experience on our walking tour of Buda with Kata. She was full of historical information and blended what we were seeing on our walk with the history of the area. Additionally we visited many sites (e.g. art exhibit, hidden memorials) which we never would have found on our own. Highly recommend.

    Art nouveau in Budapest
Anna was kind and friendly and that is count very much , second she knew very well the history of Budapest and actually the history of the other countries too . She made this 3 hour very confortable and very interesting stories about buildings in Budapest with details . I really enjoyed guide like her . From beginning until the end at list for me was breathtaking and interesting , well obviously I am art lover so I tried to catch and learn new things . I appreciate her and I will suggest everyone take this tour . I want just add , art de nouveau is not for everyone who just want turn around city . You need to be art lover . You need love of architecture , I do. Thanks again to Anna .

Good, excellent, friendly, lovely enthusiastic, historical, knowledge, lovely, Jewish, friendly, worthy, we liked it a l
Kata is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Jewish and Hungarian history. We asked her a lot of questions and she was very kind to answer all of that. At the date we booked the tour, one of the Jewish church was not open, so she took us to a lovely museum to see Jewish life from 1500 to 1900, it was very interesting. We liked her so much so that we asked her to take her to the Buda castle on the next day.

    Budapest with Kata!!!
Kata is such a talented tour guide! What an experience to explore Budapest with her on our second day . She was full of energy and truly excited to show us everything she could and to explain what it all meant. Her knowledge of the city and the country’s history was broad and deep. It is hard to believe how much we crammed into just one day. Kata was so easy to listen to. We had questions not only about what we were seeing in Budapest, but how people were living and what life was really like. She had fantastic insights into life in Budapest. She knew every herb that was growing wild, as well as the intricacies of Budapest’s architecture. We hope that when we return to Budapest, she will be available to show us even more. We will never forget her smile. A+ for Kata.

A great tour. In three hours Balint gave us far more than just an insight of life under soviet rule. Informative throughout, Balint utilised the efficient public transport system to move us quickly around the city, enabling us to see as much as possible. Viewing the 'commie blocks' was a highlight. Starting at a soviet cafe (where we ate prior to the tour) and finishing at the House of Terror meant that we able to squeeze even more into the half day.
Balint works hard to ensure that you hear and see the maximum. We all thoroughly enjoyed this informative tour.
Thank you Balint.

This was the best tour we had during our trip. Our tour guide, Balint Tamas was exceptionally knowledgeable and entertaining. So much of the experience in Budapest revolved around understanding the turbulent recent history and Balint laid out the story in a clear and understandable way. He brought books with illustrations showing the historical events that took place at the sites he took us to. He was well prepared, an expert in the history and made the tour fun.
Can't recommend this highly enough.

Hey there ;-)
We just finished this great tour with the perfect guide Balint !
We are on a fanily vacation (age from 18 to 53) and Balint managed to cater all our needs and was very captivating and entertaining tour. He walked with us through sights of Budapest, we would never have seen without him, showing us a completely new part of Budapest and opening our horizons. After the tour we can say with much confidence that it is a must do and should be added to your To Do immediately!!
12/10 stars!!

I recently took a group of 44 people to Hungary to embark on a Viking Danube cruise. Since we arrived 1 night early, I searched for something to do in Budapest that the cruise wouldn't cover and found the Communist Budapest Tour. We had Balint, Kata and Andras as guides and all were remarkable on a remarkable tour!. Most of the group would vote this was the best tour of our trip, even though Viking offered many great tours at each port. If you are in Budapest this is definitely a "must do". We really have a hard time appreciating the US until we hear these stories. Insight Cities was fantastic to work with to accommodate our group and schedule. They also got transfers from the airport and helped me plan a wonderful adventure for all! They are a professional tour operator with extensive knowledge of Europe. My hat off to them!!

Great day, very informative and insightful. We wanted an educational review of the communist past of Hungary. Thanks to Kata we got that. It’s great too see some of the hidden gems and small details, - underground bunker, etc. would recommend this if anyone has an interest in history and not just a tour of sights.

Met our guide Andras in a communist era cafe which set the scene for a two hour light hearted but thorough immersion into the socialist world of post war Hungary.
Andras eluded to the social, economic ,environmental and political experience that for better or for worse was to dominate Hungary’s citizens in this controlling political scene.
We enjoyed going into the Police HQ and parliamentary quarter and the anecdotes which were balanced and informative.
I highly recommend Andras as a guide and the tour in general.

My husband and I did this tour with Andras, and it was absolutely incredible. Andras is so knowledgeable about Hungary's history with communism, and told us about his own first-hand experiences living under that regime. He was super personable and he added a ton of color to the city. This was our first booked event in Budapest and we were so lucky to get such an amazing view and history of the city from this remarkable guide, I highly recommend it!
