Start by meeting your guide at the city's Central Market Hall, ground zero for all things culinary in Budapest. With your gourmand guide leading the way, you'll head straight for the best stalls while listening to an introduction to Hungarian cuisine. Continue outside the market and onwards past the iconic Liberty Bridge. The tour then visits a butcher shop where you can feast on a variety of traditional Hungarian dishes, followed by something sweet—delicious cakes and coffee at a 19th-century coffee house. The route progresses past the Hungarian National Museum, and onwards to a wine tasting cellar. Here, it’s possible to try both wine and cheese, including one of the world’s sweetest fine wines—Tokaji Aszu wine. The guided tasting will teach you about the country's varietals, regions, and winemaking styles. Your tour then concludes with a full belly and lots of fascinating anecdotes about Hungarian food and wine.

    Unforgettable wine tasting experience
Overall a fantastic experience courtesy of John. The knowledge and passion that we had the pleasure of experiencing was second to none. The food and wine he showcased were excellent . We left more than satisfied. If you are considering this experience just do it. No regrets 10/10.

    An Evening to Remember
Chef Tamas was truly amazing. His love of food and wine shines through and he made the evening one my husband and I will never forget. The basement setting is just perfect and we shared the evening with another couple from Germany and two female travelers- so it was very intimate with just 6 of us. Each dish was better than the one that came before it and the wine pairings were spectacular - each complimenting and enhancing the food being served. I would recommend anyone visiting Budapest to 100% include this on your itinerary - it should not be missed.

    Well worth the visit!
Lovely people, amazing wine, great experience! The charcuterie is a nice addition. Also recommend taking a bottle of your favorite away from their shop!

Amazing evening in Budapest with great food, wine and company!
My husband and I attended the chefs table at the end of May and had an amazing evening. A lovely way to spend my 40th birthday! Tamás and John were great hosts and their passion for the food and wine shone through. We were on a table of 8 and really got to know our fellow guests over the many food courses with wine pairings. The whole evening lasted over 4 hours, and felt perfectly paced. Great to learn about Hungarian food and wine as we were eating and drinking. This was the highlight of our trip and I would absolutely recommend this for an evening in Budapest!

    Sensational time
We absolutely loved our first experience with John for the wine, cheese and charcuterie tasting that we booked to go again for the evening group with Carlos and had an equally sensational time. The talk through the Hungarian wine regions and types was very informative and enjoyable and both the sommeliers balanced the information with time to enjoy the experience seamlessly. We strongly recommend the experience as the value for money was spot on and the service was exemplary.

Always important to check out the local market!
Fascinating structure with tons of places to spend your money. Remember this is the EPICENTER of the tourism in Budapest. That means things are pricey.

    We fell in love!
Dinner was absolutely incredible! We loved everything about our experience from sharing the table with another lovely couple, the food, the wine, the kindness of Chef Tamás and Christian, and the atmosphere in the cellar. It was one of the first things we did in Hungary and it made us fall in love with the city. Chef Tamás is incredible at what he does, he was so kind and happy to share his recipes and love of what he does, the food was beautiful and made us feel like we were sharing in a family dinner filled with warmth. Christian the sommelier was just as amazing, his knowledge of the wines, how they paired with the food, and just his overall character were really cool and you can tell he is so passionate about what he does. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough, you will leave with a warmth in your belly that just makes you feel loved and cared for. We still often talk of this night with friends, and it fills us with the best memories. Thank you for the most wholesome, and heart warming welcome that we could have had to beautiful Budapest. We can’t wait to return! Egészségedre!

A great way to spend 2hrs but not recommended for first timers!
Wines were great but there was very little explanation for the wines and food pairings, we were left to drink and eat at our own leisure! Although the wines were explained, this is not suitable for first timers/ if you are seeking a more guided experience. We had to reschedule at very late notice and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and understanding in accommodating us onto another time slot! The sommelier was also very knowledgeable and friendly!

    Great experience!
What a great experience. The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The ones were delicious as was the cheese and meats. Our birthday girl also got a glass of fizz to celebrate. We really enjoyed and bought wine from the adjacent shop to bring back with us.

    Enjoyable and informative !
This was a very enjoyable wine tasting. The wines were very good, and host was excellent. Very interesting to learn the history of wine making in Hungary. I will be sure to try to support them in the US. And the charcuterie provided was excellent!!! A very good value for the price. My family of 4 (daughters 22 and 24) all recommend!!

Absolutely brilliant tour, the food was lovely and we met some great people. Our guide Andrew was funny, knowledgeable and showed us parts of the city we’d never have discovered on our own. Really glad we did this trip.

We had a great time. There was an overview of the Hungarian history and culture in the Central Market. There was a variety of foods to try (plenty of food) … and stories to go with each part. Charlotte (English version of her name - she said the Hungarian was too hard) took us through the streets of Budapest; a cake and pastry cafe was a surprise treat; and we ended with a wonderful wine tasting in a quaint wine cellar. Overall, a great experience.

Thanks to Ursula, our guide, who brought us to a higher culinary experience. Tour started on time, walked around the market and got to sample an apricot palinka ( 40% alcohol), eat traditional langos, nibbled on different salami, including horse and hairy pig, then a taste of pickles in the basement. Watermelon and garlic pickles were good! Walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch, where we had goulash, a variety of sausages , duck, mashed potatoes and pickled purple cabbage. For dessert, we tried a few slices of dobash and flodni among others and enjoyed a cup of cappuccino at Geraldine’s. To top it all, last stop was in a wine cellar for introduction to Hungarian wine and some cheese.
Overall a great experience with fellow travelers. Would highly recommend.

If you are looking to combine food, history, and culture in one tour, this is for you. Our knowledgeable guide took us through the market, stopping at several stands for tastes of different foods. She explained each item, such as cured meats and pickled vegetables, giving historical information as it linked to the items we sampled. The second part of the tour is at a local restaurant that serves foods locals would find at home (if their family had great cooks!). Again, she gave us the background of each item we shared family style, and was available to answer any other questions we had. This is a tour you will remember!

We did the public tour with 3 other couples. I highly recommend this tour, but suggest you eat little or no breakfast prior to taking it. Food, Palinka (one), and wine is plentiful and the tour guide (Andy) is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Tour begins in the Central Market and countinues through the immediate walkable area from the market; walk is fairly long, but not overly exerting. Photo included in this listing is an accurate representation of the some of the food we received. Everything was delicious.

Our guide was Carolyn. She did an excellent job taking us to the central market stopping at several booths to sample cured meat, candy, chocolate, lavender, Langos, while giving historical information for each item we were tasting. We then stopped for lunch and feasted on the traditional Hungarian dishes. After that, we traveled to a cafe where we got to try a variety of Hungarian tasty cakes with coffee. The last part of the trip took us to a sommelier who spoke great English to introduce us to the Hungarian wines and regions. I got to sample the Tokaji aszu wine which was sweet tasty. I highly recommend this #TastingTableBudapest

We booked a private tour for six couples and to begin, the communication with their office was great as we had many questions🥴
Our tour guide, Anna, was terrific. She was knowledgeable, patient and funny. She had thought of so many little details, like hand sanitizer, wipes, where is best to use WC’s, etc. We learned so much more than we were expecting, about the culture and history of the food, the city and Hungary.
One little note is that there is a lot of “on your feet” time, which sounds silly as it is a four hour walking tour (by the way, Anna gave us even longer!) but even the traditional Hungarian lunch was stand -up, which was hard for a couple of people.
This is truly a minor note as everyone of us would highly recommend this tour!

Anna was an amazing tour guide of culinary Budapest. The places we went were beautiful, the food and wine were wonderful, and Anna gave us an excellent overview of the City and culture. We highly recommend her and this tour, and now plan to do a food/wine tour of every new city we visit.

George was a fantastic tour guide! Walked all over, got a great history and insight into Budapest and Hungarian culture. Tried so much food. Definitely come hungry. Also great communication throughout booking. The tour I originally signed up for didn’t have anyone else signed up so they worked with me to move it to the next day.
