- anthonycS4667OK0 contributionsPrivate day tour of Pannonhalma AbbeyYesterday, my wife and I visited Pannonhalma Arch Abbey with a Eurama private tour. Our tour guide was Christina, who with our driver picked us up at our Budapest hotel. Christina provided us with a detailed history of the Abbey from its founding by King Geza around the year 1000 through the present day. She not only knew the history of the Abbey well but also its importance to the Hungarian people through the centuries. The Abbey is an outstanding combination of many architectural styles and since the fall of communism has been renovated to serve the needs of the monastic community. In addition to touring the church, treasury and library, we were able to attend a brief midday prayer service with the monks and other visitors. The Abbey also manages an extensive herb garden, growing lavender and other fragrant herbs. Overall, the day trip from Budapest was outstanding addition to our visit to Hungary, largely due to the knowledge and skill of our tourguide. We would recommend a private tour to Pannonhalma as an enjoyable and easy way to visit this historic and sacred place.Written April 13, 2024

- Shelly82420 contributionsAn Excellent Guide and Wonderul Tour of BudapestI reserved this tour several weeks before I left for Budapest. Viatours immediatley sent me confirmation. Then I received a personal note from our Guide, Gabriel (Gabor) asking if there was anything specific we wanted to see, as he arranges the tour according the the client's desires. He had a very comforable and clean car, with bottles of water (it was a very hot and humid day). He is extremely knowlegable and gave us wonderful historical explawations of ehat we were seeing. We were in Pest and in Buda and saw far more that I expected. But he managed to include everything that was important for us to see. it was really and excellent experience.Written July 6, 2023
- Rockhopper1040 contributionsExcellentThis was well worth the money. The guide (Tom) was lovely and the driver excellent. We saw a good few places that we would never have found. Yes it involved quite a bit of walking but I got the impression that Tom could have modified the tour depending on mobility. Can’t recommend this enough. Several times after both my wife and I said how glad we were that we did thisWritten June 23, 2023
- 616iank0 contributionsAmazing equestrianism!Totally brilliant and an absolute 'mut do'. A carriage ride, beautiful horses and a mind-blowing display of superb horsemanship. We were able to wander round, but the show was the highlight.Written May 24, 2023
- globetrotting-elissa0 contributionsAll Around Fabulous! We had the most wonderful tour around Budapest! My mom is visually impaired and recently had surgery so walking long distances is difficult for her. This was a perfect way to see Budapest with a comfy car, great driver, and fabulous guide. We checked off so many places from my list of must sees and were able to stop to photograph anything we wanted. We were picked up at our ship and dropped off at a restaurant I had made reservations for. If you're in Budapest, this tour is NOT to be missed!!!Written April 25, 2023

The fact that our tour had both a guide and a driver made seeing the sights easier. Edith was excellent, she took the time and effort to show us something of the most beautiful things about the ancient Magyar (Hungarian) history. The Visegrád castle and Danube bend views were amazing

Ildikó Varga of Budapest Bug expertly organised our private day trip to the Danube Bend with our kind, knowledgable guide, Vince (Vincusha) and experienced chauffeur, Tamas.
From our Budapest Hotel we were driven to Nagymaros, from where our car boarded a ferry headed for Visegrád- famous for its hilltop medieval castle with glorious views of the Danube Bend. After a visit of Hungary's most prominent and sacred Esztergom Cathedral, we were shown views of the Danube from the back of its Basilica.
Later we visited Visegrád's citadel where we were treated to an entertaining show of jousting and archery, which was very enjoyable for the children, as they could try their hand at using the ancient weaponry after the show.
After enjoying views of the Danube from the castle, we headed for lunch at a medieval themed restaurant. Post lunch we were taken by Vince to certain hilly vantage points above the Danube from where we could take nice photos and have glorious views of the river.
Our tour ended at the beautiful, picturesque town of Szentendre, where we tasted Lavender ice cream for the first time. Szentendre is famous for it's handicrafts, small museums (visit Micro Wonder Museum!), art galleries, streets artists, woodcrafts (buy Hungary's unique handcrafted brightly coloured wooden boxes- they can be engraved), etc. The town looks like it was created from a story book. It's church offers good views over the town. There is also a small Jewish quarter with quaint houses- one we saw looks like a Hobbit's house!.
This tour offers a lot, however we felt that had we avoided lunch at the very busy and very touristy restaurant with extremely slow service (we were there for almost 2 hours!), we would have had time to tour at a more relaxed pace.
All in all we had a wonderful day with Vince who surprised us all with his fluency of Hindi (the national language of India) and his extensive knowledge and love for our country.
