A Talented tour guide and lovely tour!
We met Anna just outside our hotel (Intercontinental). She had been inside looking for us. We finally connected and began the tour. She spoke English beautifully with a perfect command of the language. When the tour is labled private, that's exactly what they mean. The only people there were myself, my wife and Anna! It felt like we walked all over Pest, but we stopped frequently whenever we wanted. As my wife and I are in our late 70's, this was more frequent then she was probably used to. To her credit, the pace was perfect for all. Her knowledge was Encyclopedic. Any detail we pointed out or questioned was responded to quickly with loads of facts. We stopped for coffee at a small cafe and enjoyed the break. We saw three synagogues (there are over 20 in Budapest), by far the most impressive was the Dohany Synagogue (or the Grand Synagogue). The admission fees are not included in the tour. Do not fail to see the interior of this beautiful temple, it is worth every penny. Anna is a wonderful and talented host.

          Wonderful, informative tour!
Wonderful experience! Kata was our guide and she was terrific. She gave us so much information about the history of theJewish community, including personal experiences from her family. She was able to pace the tour to fit our needs. We were very happy that we chose this tour. And it’s worth adding the shoes on the Danube!

Good tour of Memento Park - and more.
We went to Memento Park with the guide. It was an excellent tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Both before and after touring the park we spent quite a bit of time talking about the history of Hungary in the 20th century and learned a great deal. He is very knowledgeable and willing to share his experience with you.

Highlight of our time in Budapest!
What a spectacular way to learn about Hungary and Communism through the eyes of a person who lived through it. Spending over 3 hours walking and talking we were able to ask questions and get to know a wonderful man with so much to share. We highly recommend this tour. It personalizes Budapest and its people. Books, maps and a large group tour does not compare to this personal experience.

Different aspects of art nouveau at its best
We enjoyed it so much. It‘s so much better to have a guide who knows about the topic and also loves it and not just learned it by heart Thank you so much Miklos Tim and Christine

Professor of Private Tours - Truly Rich History!
I am grateful to have met the Fungarian my first day arriving in Budapest. His guidance on the metro and city was excellent for exploring on my own for the duration of my trip. The in-depth education on the Jewish history truly rounded out the richness and complexity of Hungary and Budapest's development. If people are unaware of the impact from the Jewish community, they are truly missing the full story. The Fungarian is an excellent teacher!

          Excellent informative and interesting
Excellent, informative well rounded. Miklòs has extensive knowledge of and feeling for the Jewish history of Budapest. It was neither narrow nor linear but added contextual cultural artistic and contemporary political material into a tour of the essential sites of this once great community. Though tragically obliterated Miklòs brought a lost world back to life for us. P&D

Learn to look up in Budapest!
Fungararian is a retired history professor with a wealth of knowledge he enjoys sharing. The tour included use of the Metro and trams (useful as it was our first day in town). This allowed us to visit many of the most glamorous buildings in town and generally got us oriented to the city. We learned the primary features of Art nouveau so I'm sure I'll recognize it in the future. He was very accommodating through the tour and even asked if we wanted to add on an extra 30 minutes to see two additional buildings. The stained glass windows at the end of the tour were spectacular! You will see the city through different eyes after this tour!

A Jewish Heritage Tour in Budapest.
The tour was very good. We very much enjoyed our guide, Miklos, who was very knowledgeable. I would do it again and recommend it to others.

If you like history and architecture, do not miss this opportunity with Miklos.
What a marvelous tour with Miklos! As an architect, I can attest to his breadth and depth of knowledge about not just Hungarian Art Nouveau and Art Deco but the history which influenced what you see today. He led us on a well thought out tour (including the use of public transportation which saved our feet) to see about a dozen buildings. We ended with his warm hospitality at his home to see the outstanding stain glass work of Miksa Roth which survived WWII with his cat modeling for us. Sign up. You will not be disappointed!

          Excellent Shopping Trip
As always an excellent trip to the flea market. Miklos is a great guide and knows how to find and get the best deals. Make sure to go on Saturday because that is when the most vendors are there as well as a smaller market outside the main one. Other days of the week are not really worth it. OH! and you get to taste the best langos in town!

          Great guide and teacher
We were fortunate to have four walks throughout Budapest with Miklos Molnar. He is a gifted teacher and guide who helped us see so much of Budapest while gaining a deepened understanding of its history and future. He pitched the talks with just the right combination of information, insight and humor. His experience teaching at the university level was evident in his wonderful fund of knowledge. He listened carefully and always used our questions as a way to give added insights about Hungary. I can’t recommend Miklos Molnar highly enough. I hope we have the opportunity to have him as our guide again.

          Fantastic Jewish Heritage Tour
Went on the Jewish Heritage Tour with Miklos and had a fantastic time. Small group of 5 adults from the US. Miklos is a retired professor and was friendly, knowledgeable and gave us a fantastic tour. His knowledge of the history of the city, country and the local Jewish history was extensive! I highly recommend him!!

Miklos was our guide today and it was a memorable tour with someone who was deeply devoted to enhancing our travel experience.

He really did care about what we wanted to learn and what we wanted to see. He didn't waste our time taking us to just every average tourist place. We shared sausage with him from the marketplace and it was so enjoyable.

He has a great sense of humour and loves to laugh. We teased him about the Budapest London Eye and it was a shared funny moment. I cannot say enough good about the whole travel experience with this Fungarian.

My wife and I traveled to Budapest and had preordered this excursion as the first event. It was the best decision we could have made. We love to explore the cities we visit outside of the tourist areas as much as possible. This transit tour gave us the ability and confidence to navigate the transit system all around the city. Miklos was an astounding host. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore Budapest on their own.

If you do only one tour then this transportation tour will have you using trams, underground, metro, trolley buses, and your feet. Miklos is so knowledgeable, he comes prepared, and adapts easily. This is ideal for your first day, and then you can travel throughout the entire transit system easily. I learned so much about culture, history and markets and architecture while learning to navigate a very good and integrated public transportation system. Excellent tour. It was so much fun and so useful.

Thank you for your appreciation. As you say, we invented this special tour (combining practical things with cultural content) for vsitors who'd like to go beyond must see's. I am pleased to hear that you also find our system efficient thanks to the professional metropolitan government's green policy giving priority to public transport and bikes. In this way this wonderful city has become more livable. I hope you come back for a relaxing stay.

We followed Tripadvisor recommendations. Always used Bolt cabs and through the app. All worked so well. When on the streets too. Never raised hand for a cab on the street.

I am not quite sure if this ad for Bolt was placed at the right place. We, Fungarian, have our own public transport tour, which has proved to be very successful and popular among visitors. Bolt or taxis are fine, they fullfil their single function: taking you from one place to another. Our personalized tour is much more than that. Budapest has one of the best public transport systems in Europe and we, locals, are very proud of it. The advantages of taking public transport instead of a taxi ride are manyfolded: 1. you meet locals 2. you hear Hungarian language 3. you use public transport as an hop-off bus and with the expertise of your guide it's a contentful sightseeing tour including places that are NOT in the guidebook 4. it's very cheap, 1/10th of an average taxi ride. Anyway, take your pick, it's free country.

I have signed my 14 year-old daughter and her same age friend up for this tour as a fun end-of-summer activity. Miklós has taken them on this half day introduction to Budapest tour via walking and public transportation. The girls were thoroughly entertained (and received excellent physical exercise through walking!). Miklós managed to show them several hidden gems of the city and make it an entertaining while extremely educational half day. He taught them about the different architectural styles as well as Hungarian history and the history of this beautiful city. Miklós - as I learned - has been a university professor during his professional years , including spending time at one of the best US universities as guest lecturer, with a waste knowledge of history, art history and literature. His English is impeccable. Indeed this was a unique experience for the two girls. Highly recommended!

Thank you for your feedback. Highly appreciated. This age group was a real challenge, so I am quite pleased that they reacted positively. Your nice words give Fungarian more credit to label our tours as an educational experience. My bon mot for the young ladies was: Budapest is an open-air textbook. They seem to have appreciated it.

First of all, we have to mention that our guide, Miklós, was wonderful. He is so accommodating, knowledgeable and funny! We felt comfortable interacting with him right from the beginning.

He paced and customised the tour so well and provided us with not only the necessary information and materials such as guide books and maps to help us with getting around, he also bought us local treats to try out!

The tour itself was truly worth taking up. On top of learning how to make use of the many different types of public transport to get around, we gained a much better idea on how to spend our 3 days in Budapest ftuitfully.

It was a fun experience hopping on and off the different transportation like the locals, worry free, and learning more about things that we came across. Anothee advantage of the tour being in the local's perspective, we quickly learnt what we should and should not do in Budapest. Definitely a good way to be introduced to Budapest for the first time!

Dear Juliana, Thank you for your enthusiastic words. I am most pleased to hear that you found the tour structure including several means local public transport enjoyable. It was a good idea to start your visit with this tour and thus I could save you time and energy on sorting things out in an unknown environment where even the language is a culture shock. Cheers, Miklós and the Fungarian Team
