Exploring Hungary’s Etyek wine region from Budapest in half a day is nearly impossible unless you rent a car. This guided tour visits selected Etyek’s family-owned cellars, with four tastings at each included. With round-trip transport, a meal, the opportunity to see Hungary’s countryside, and a chance to learn about and purchase (own expense) Etyek’s wines, it lets you enjoy your tastings stress free. This tour is ideal for wine enthusiasts who are pushed for time.
What to Expect
Book your time slot and after pickup at your central Budapest hotel, make the journey into the Etyek-Buda wine region by air-conditioned minivan.

Admire the rolling vineyards as your guide tells of Etyek’s white wines, commonly grown from sauvignon-blanc and pinot-gris grapes. Stop at two or three (depending on departure selected) family-run wineries, and sample four wines at each, alongside Hungarian snacks, and including a tasting of a local Törley sparkling wine. As you sip, learn the secrets behind each varietal from the winery owner and winemaker.

In between the wineries, see Old Wine Hill, a beautiful hillside dotted with disused wine cellars, while learning about the local soils.

Finally, savor a traditional 2-course Hungarian meal at a wine estate, enjoying it with additional wines at your expense.

Your Etyek wine country tour concludes with a drop-off at your Budapest hotel.

Etyek Wine Tour

This was a fantastic evening and dinner. Our guide Julianna was excellent and her knowledge of the wine industry and her English was excellent. All wineries visited were full of history, and the dinner in the last winery was very good. I would strongly recommend...More

Wine and dinner - great combination

The wine tasting was superb. I didn't know Hungary produced such good wines. The company was great (12 people) and the knowledge discussed by the winemakers was excellent, their knew their stuff. Dinner was lovely as well. I would highly recommend this tour.

As others have said, the best way to know for sure is to ask the tour company directly. But even if there was a discounted rate, a non- drinker would spend a lot of time being bored since much of the activity is centered... More

I agree with one of the other commenters. It is workable but the wine cellar piece could be a little challenging. This would be 5 minutes of the tour in our experience. Enjoy!
