- Trek090421105060 contributionsUnfortunate CircumstanceWe bought tickets to the Basilica on a Monday morning and heard about the pipe organ concert there each Monday night. Excited, we toured the Basilica and planned to return that night. However they would not let us return to enter the Basilica without purchasing another ticket to enter the building. We had only paid to enter a few hours prior so it seemed that it would be fine. However when we returned for the concert, we were DENIED entry and told our tickets were only good for ONE entry. What a horrible policy! I bought tickets. It’s a disgrace to tourists that they would bait and switch like this.Written October 7, 2024
- 799jeanettep0 contributionsWonderful Evening Danube CruiseThe cruise was spectacular with the buildings all lit up along the Danube. The food was very good and the entertainment was fun. Our only problem was we were given incorrect directions 2 times and ended up on the wrong side of the river. I called the company and they actually waited 5 extra minutes so we wouldn’t miss the trip. We were extremely grateful for their kindness!Written October 5, 2024
- Raxina200 contributionsBudapest Danube CruiseMy first tour in the city and it was good. More that I expected to be honest. Even with the rain, I enjoyed it. I liked the pick up from the hotel, because I can arrived on time to be part of this tour. The food was good, good selection, warm and tasty. Dessert area was not so big, but still enjoyable. The music and the traditional dance, where the dancers were wearing the traditional costumes, gave to the tour a special touch. Despite the rain, the night view from the river is fascinating. - I93USrichardc0 contributionsGreat event, very confusing directionsThis was a very entertaining event. The food was very good, but the performace was the main attraction. The musicians were fabulous . They came to each table to serenade each and every person. There was, however, a big problem. Finding the boat was confusing. Directions were inadequate. We asked two different people and were directed to the wrong place. Finally, we were told to go to dock 2. There is .ore than one dock 2. We missed the performance, but were able to rebook on a later one. We were told to look for a certain boat. It was, however, docked on the outside of another boat so that you could not see the name. There was no visible sign. Absolutely loved the event. They need to have better instructions.Written October 2, 2024

- donnarU5482LW0 contributionsBudapest at nightThe directions to get to the ship were very poor. Our taxi driver couldn’t find it and we had to get them on the phone in order to get there. We almost missed the boat. Then we wanted to add food to our experience and that was difficult as well. Budapest is beautiful at night and we enjoyed that part. The food and drinks were ok.Written October 1, 2024

We booked a cabin and spa entrance through trip advisor before we left for Budapest, we decided (for security reasons) that we wouldn't take a large amount of cash on the day as we weren't sure how secure things would be. Arrived to a very busy front desk where a girl gave us a wristband, mumbled something about paying for shampoo (which we had already brought) then went onto the next customer, we had no clue where to go and walked around for a while, passing alot of visitors looking and sounding just as clueless, managed to find our 'cabin' (changing room with a lock that opens with your wristband) got changed then wandered some more to find the pools to be told that you had to be wearing flip flops , we wandered around to find someone to confirm this and then had to find our cabin again to get some cash - find the room selling flip flops again and pay a ridiculous £20 for 2 pairs!!! Luckily for us we had that much. Then back to the cabin to lock our belongings up, by this point we were pretty fed up but decided to make the best of it and found the baths, they were overcrowded and not really hot , went outside which was better and had a laugh in a whirlpool part of the main big pool (this was the only good part of the visit) we decided to try the only pool that was actually for swimming and were stopped as we needed to hire a swimming hat to be allowed in!!!! By this point we'd had enough, sat in a warm pool for a short while inside and then left , I wouldn't recommend this place at all but if you decide to go don't forget your towel , flip flops and swimming hat .. I have seen replies to reviews that say that it clearly states that you need flip flops etc, I have been over the confirmation email etc before writing this and there isn't anything mentioned.

What a disappointment.. that’s all I can really say about the experience!
The 'fast track' was absolutely pointless as you have to queue at the cashier desk to then get re-directed to wait at the help desk (which is so hidden that you wouldn’t automatically go there). Once you get in, the place is filthy, not relaxing one bit & the thermal waters are luke warm. It’s more like a public swimming pool but with way too many people! The inside pools are a total write off because it’s a) too busy b) the water smells of urine and is dirty.
Outdoors is more like an Instagram sensation - everyone in the pool has their phone with them taking endless selfies. The place is so noisy and just not relaxing at all! A true Instagram vs. Reality moment! It’s not what it looks like...
We were so disappointed as we were really looking forward to this experience & considering the price, had quite high expectations.
I haven’t been to any of the other thermal baths but i honestly do not think this one is worth your money. Budapest is so beautiful but this tourist trap certainly is not.

We are terribly sorry about your experience. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about the thermal water's smell, or the crowd. We will try to get better to make our help-desk more noticeable. We forwarded your feedback to the manager's department, and we will try to find a solution. Thank you for your feedback!

After looking at all the things to do in Budapest it became clear that a spa was a must and this was the most popular and iconic.
To be fair I didn’t expect much and I thought it was going to be fairly chaotic and a lot of standing around being cold.
However the staff couldn’t be nicer. I hadn’t pre booked and we arrived at 4pm on a Saturday.
I wanted to book aroma massages for 4 of us and was very happy when ok arrival the ticket desk made this possible at 6pm.
She advised that we would only need two cubicles, which were perfect.
We didn’t enjoy the indoor pools too much but the saunas were great as was the outdoor pool with swirly water roundabout thing, there’s a bar if you fancy a beer.
I would recommend going later in the day so you can experience the outside pool in the dark.
Also no need for swim caps and we wore slippers that we found in our air bnb and no one checked or asked if we had flip flops. Most people were barefoot.
All in all a memorable experience but I wouldn’t wanted to stay there for longer than a couple of hours.

Would def.recommend cabin hire over a locker as this gives you private space to change and secure storage for your things.Having booked on-line (an easy process) then entry was quick. We preferred the outdoor baths as seemed more atmospheric, the inner whizzy part was good fun. Remember to take flip-flops, towel etc..as although you can buy things there it is a bit expensive. But overall a great experience.

Excellent range of different pools, so many to choose from. Go before midday as it suddenly gets a lot busier at 12. Remember your flip flops. It was good fun being in the out door pool, it was really warm. Shame there were so many young people too busy posing and filming themselves in the water to actually enjoy themselves. They didn’t want to spoil their hair and makeup or didn’t seem able to put their mobile phones away!

Wasn’t sure what to expect after reading many of the terrible reviews for this place, but we figured we would give it a go. We had a really great time and it wasn’t half as bad as others have made out. A few things were mentioned on other reviews which we were unsure of, hopefully we can put other peoples minds at ease with this info.
1. Sliders/flip flops - they do need to be worn. There is no sign apart from one near the doors to get to the outside pools, you can get them there believe they are around 4000 huf pp, or bring your own.
2. You can either book online or pay when you get there. We queued for a few minutes to get to the kiosk and then a couple of minute queue to get in to the main area. We paid 19000 huf for two, but this included a cabin.
3. changing rooms - you could either use the communal changing area or pay for a cabin , an extra 1000 huf. The cabins are small, for two it was a tight squeeze and we aren’t big people, so it may be an idea to get more than one if you need space to change. The good thing with the cabins is you can leave all your stuff inside, and lock the door when you leave. Essentially that is your locker and change room.
4. Showers were downstairs so if you want to shower after and use shower gel/shampoo you would need to go back to tour cabin to get them first.
5. Sauna - there is a sauna that you can use with no extra charge.
There are hair dryers you can use near the exit door. They aren’t amazing but at least they are there!
Recommend taking two towels if poss, your towel gets wet when you walk from place to place, then you would need it to shower and change so a spare could be preferred.
There are indoor thermal baths, a sauna you could use as mentioned above and 2 outdoor leisure pools and a competition (lengths) style pool.
There are food/drink areas but we didn’t use them so unsure of cost.
To be honest, this exceeded our expectations. I don’t understand what some of these reviewers were expecting, yes it does look tired in some places, but it’s a lovely place to visit and have a great time. We were there around 3 hours and throughly enjoyed it. My opinion it’s well worth it. Enjoy!

We pre booked tickets and went in the morning. We also had the cabin tickets which was perfect if you're not comfortable changing in open spaces.
The outdoor facilities were great but we weren't too keen on the indoor pools, however the sauna was out of this world and I would go again just for that.
Overall it was a good experience and a great way to start a winter's day and we felt super relaxed for the rest of the day.

We were fortunate to have 2 extra days in Budapest before the start of our tour. We read that others had commented that the spa was old and in need of a face lift. While I’d agree, it didn’t hamper our enjoyment. We tried just about every pool both inside and out. We each had a ticket with the changing room - we probably could have gotten by on one or two rooms and saved some money. Changing rooms do lock using a bracelet that you a given at check in. We were a little concerned about the security, but had no issues. Bathing caps were not required and vaccine cards were not checked. I would recommend wearing flip flops outside of the pools as it is a little slippery. We took our hotel towels. There is a snack bar which is cash only. We went an overcast fall day, but the temperature was very comfortable. Bring a plastic bag for your wet suits and towels. After we left the spa we walked past the zoo to an Gundel restaurant, which had live music and excellent service and food. All in our group agreed that this was a fun experience and would recommend it.

What wasn't clear was the guided palinka experience was not situated anywhere near the Spa, in fact it was quite a few miles away. Unfortunately, we had not allowed time for this. Don't book this as its much cheaper to pay admission at the spa itself. We paid about £80 for 2 people and its only about £30 at the spa. I asked for a refund on the Palinka experience, which was denied. The Spa itself was a worth while trip though, pretty much as expected a Victorian style outdoor swimming pool, which was so warm, and indoor pools and sauna's. There is also a bar and a cafe. You get your own cabin where you can leave you belongings and don't forget your flip-flops as they are obligatory, you can but them there but they are about £7 but worth about 50p lol. It was a great way to relax on Sunday after lots of walking and exploring the day before. The spa itself I would give 4 stars, its worth the trip for the quirky experience!!
