VANESSA was really nice and could not have been happier to help us with any queries. The entertainment and music was great and seemed authentic. - Trek090421105060 contributionsUnfortunate CircumstanceWe bought tickets to the Basilica on a Monday morning and heard about the pipe organ concert there each Monday night. Excited, we toured the Basilica and planned to return that night. However they would not let us return to enter the Basilica without purchasing another ticket to enter the building. We had only paid to enter a few hours prior so it seemed that it would be fine. However when we returned for the concert, we were DENIED entry and told our tickets were only good for ONE entry. What a horrible policy! I bought tickets. It’s a disgrace to tourists that they would bait and switch like this.Written October 7, 2024
- 799jeanettep0 contributionsWonderful Evening Danube CruiseThe cruise was spectacular with the buildings all lit up along the Danube. The food was very good and the entertainment was fun. Our only problem was we were given incorrect directions 2 times and ended up on the wrong side of the river. I called the company and they actually waited 5 extra minutes so we wouldn’t miss the trip. We were extremely grateful for their kindness!Written October 5, 2024
- Raxina200 contributionsBudapest Danube CruiseMy first tour in the city and it was good. More that I expected to be honest. Even with the rain, I enjoyed it. I liked the pick up from the hotel, because I can arrived on time to be part of this tour. The food was good, good selection, warm and tasty. Dessert area was not so big, but still enjoyable. The music and the traditional dance, where the dancers were wearing the traditional costumes, gave to the tour a special touch. Despite the rain, the night view from the river is fascinating. Recommend it this tour 100%Written October 4, 2024

4 Aug 2022, Budapest, Hungary – Jewish Heritage Grand Tour with Benjamin
Our tour guide, Benjamin, was very knowledgeable, spoke impeccable English, and exuded pride in Budapest and his Jewish heritage. Benjamin was thorough in his explanation of Jewish religious and family traditions. We visited 3 synagogues, each with different approaches to Judaism. Benjamin explained the differences and historical background behind each approach, as well as the history behind the Jewish quarter and the 3 synagogue buildings. We ended with a coffee and traditional Jewish cake in a kosher restaurant. This tour was excellent and well worth taking!

We are almost done with a 16 day trip through 5 cities. Today’s tour with Benjamin was a top highlight of the entire 2 weeks and hands down, the best guide we have had. A native Hungarian whose family survived the holocaust, this young man gave a powerful and incredibly informative tour in perfect English. Anyone who is lucky enough to see and hear Jewish Budapest thru Benjamin’s passionate lens is in for an amazing experience!

February 17th guided walk with Benjamin. An amazing experience and a privilege to share this with Benjamin. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his faith. He explained everything so clearly and had a lovely, calm manner. The memorial garden is such a moving sight and Benjamin managed to exude positivity for the future even amongst such sadness. Thank you for such a special morning!

I firstly want to thank our tour guide Abel for giving one of the best tours I’ve ever done!
It was so nice to see a young guide so passionate and well informed on all aspects and history of Judaism. He questioned us along the way which was engaging and entertaining and taught us a a lot.
The tour it’s self is another must do whilst in Budapest. It’s such an important and big part of their history that it’s definitely worth doing

Benjamin Kezler delivers an
amazing tour of the Jewish Quarter in Budapest, focusing on the beautiful Dohayni Street Synagogue. He is a young native Hungarian Jew who brings his personal and family experiences to the tour. He is very knowledgeable in Judaism, Hungarian history and the Hungarian Jewish story, fluent in English, pleasant, funny and
passionate about his commitment. Great tour, don't miss it.

The tour was great. Our tour guide l, Abel is a university student home from University. His English is perfect, and wouldn’t have known he was Hungarian if he hadn’t said as he has no accent. Not only was he so well informed, but being a local and growing up in the community, gave an honest and informed opinion of Hungarian Jewish history and of what’s going on in the Jewish community currently. I highly recommend the tour and Abel if you can get him before he goes back to school.

This was a brilliant tour and Abel was a wonderful guide. I had booked onto the standard tour which was mainly based in the beautiful synagogue and surrounding gardens but also took in some of the streets around the synagogue..in retrospect I really wish I'd booked the Grand Tour which continued after mine ended as there was so much to see. Abel was very engaging, informative and natural and I learnt so much, not just about the Jewish faith and the synagogue but also about the position of Jews in Hungary in the 20th century, and today. The group was small and there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions. I would highly recommend taking a morning to do this tour..
On the admin front, I had booked my ticket in the UK (after a recommend in the Lonely Planet Budapest guide) and was a bit worried that I wasn't emailed a ticket, only a "Notice:invoice received". I also wasn't sure where I would find my tour as it was pretty busy in front of the synagogue but most people seemed to be queuing to buy entrance tickets and when Abel appeared at 9.45 he quickly worked out who was on his tour (and had all our names) so no worries there.

Still an active synagogue and women will be given covers for their shoulders (paper shawl) and knees (paper robe if you are wearing shorts) and men will be given head covers (if you are not wearing a hat). Beautiful structure that looks like a hybrid between a church and a synagogue. The façade is marked by twin towers and the interior is laid out with an organ at the front (actually behind the Torah so it is actually outside the synagogue). Overviews are presented in six different languages in case you are not with a guide.

It was fascinating and heartbreaking hearing about the life of the Jews in Hungary over many years. It was so interesting to visit the different synagogues with very different styles. Petra was a very passionate guide with so much information on the ghetto, etc. The tree of life and the Raoul Wallander memorial added to the experience. Ending with delicious Kosher cake in the cafe at the end added to the whole experience. I would highly recommend this tour.

This Jewish Heritage Walking tour was amazing and this thanks to Benjamin and his deep knowledge of Jewish history and traditions. Through anecdotes, references to religion and various explanations as for Jewish people and their survival during the war, we were all fascinated and didn’t even notice the three hour tour.
Thank you Benjamin . You are welcome any Time in Troyes, city where Rachi used to live and work.
