Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- amysC718NP0 contributionsFabulous tour!Andrea was amazing. Very informative about what we were seeing and Hungarian history. She has a good sense of humor and made the tour extremely enjoyable.Written November 26, 2024
- haralambos240 contributionsGreat Tour!I had a great experience with Absolute Tours in Budapest! The guide was friendly and informative, offering plenty of interesting facts about the city's history and landmarks. The small group size made the tour more personal, and the pace was just right. My only small complaint was that some of the stops could have used a bit more time to explore. Overall, it’s a fantastic way to see the main sights of Budapest, and I’d definitely recommend it!Written November 10, 2024
- edjonescc0 contributionsTerrific guide, Gregory, for Buda Castle tour.Gregory was delightful! He grew up in the area and knows it inside and out. We saw the major sites as well a several off the beaten path sites. Definitely a 5 star -- we hated when the tour ended. The area is amazingly beautiful.Written November 8, 2024
- lisagF9717HB0 contributionsPerfect start to our Budapest City BreakWe booked this walking tour and river cruise on our first night to give us a good insight into what Budapest has to offer. Petra our guide was amazing, she certainly knew her stuff and we were lucky enough to end up with just us 4 so we got a private tour, asked loads of questions and really got to know not just the facts but all the local stories aswell. Petra really made us feel welcome and made us hungry for more knowledge. The city cruise after was just right for a simple sit down and watch the beautiful city scape pass us by. Highly recommended.Written November 5, 2024
- JimBSE0 contributionsBudapest Hammer & Sickle Communist TourThis was the best tour we took on our trip to Budapest. Greg was very knowledgable and equally entertaining, telling us about both experiences under Communism and the city around us. I’m still talking about it now I’m back home, a few hours very well spent.Written November 1, 2024

- Naomi S0 contributionsFascinating tour with RebeccaGood instructions to find the meet point and our tour guide Rebecca. She was very friendly and had a real passion for history, which showed. She was happy to answer questions and give any extra guidance on specific details during our tour. Really enjoyed the experience and would recommend, if you want a more indepth knowledge of Budapest, its history and the Castle district.Written October 8, 2024
- NatFigs0 contributionsGood!Very beautiful and partially free (if you visit the outside area and the surroundings). It is a good spot to do some sightseeing of Pest. The cafés and restaurants in the complex are very expensive, so I wouldn’t recommend that. We were going to buy tickets for the church, when we saw a sign saying that there would be a free concert later that night. So we came back and not only visited it for free, but also listened to two choirs (one local and another one from the U.S.) —which was a good experience. Right next to the church, there is a Hilton hotel that is like a typical 80’s crystal box building and completely ruins the landscape. I don’t know why they allowed to put that there but —quiet frankly— they should demolish it. This is a historical and heritage site.Written September 18, 2024
- Bryd20170 contributionsGreat introduction to beautiful BudapestA fantastic way to see and understand some of the sights of beautiful Budapest. Our guide Petra was very knowledgeable and brought the history to life for us. The combination of daylight to evening, capped off with the lights of the city from the river was truly spectacular.Written September 5, 2024
- FarAway622950230440 contributionsGreg the Guide is the best! True local experienceFantastic experience. Greg was great. We had a small group of 3 people, so it was very easy to move around amongst all the tourists. Greg took us on a more local view of the Buda castle area and gave us some great history about the area. Showed us some spots that tourists probably have no idea about! Gave us a great recommendation to go to the Black Raven restaurant in the Buda castle area for a more local experience. Would take another tour with Greg!Written August 26, 2024
- Jill S0 contributionsGreat intro to BudapestPetra was a great tour guide! She is very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of good, and interesting, facts about Budapest and took us to see quite a few sites. We definitely feel like we got a good feel for the history and city. Absolute Tour Review
Sunday 9th February 2020
My daughter and I visited Budapest for the first time this weekend and did the walking tour with Kristina. It was a fantastic experience because of how much we saw and learned, but also because of our amazing guide!
Kristina was extremely friendly and so passionate about telling our group about Budapest’s history and quirks. In 3 and a half hours we managed to get a really good bearing of the city centre, some lovely photos and tips on what to see afterwards - she was right, Szent István’s Bazilika was phenomenal!
A really big thank you to Kristina for making us feel so at home, we’ll be highly recommending her and the tour to anyone visiting Budapest!

Superb tour shepherded by Esther. She was a terrific source of historical information and was flexible in conducting the tour. Would recommend for anyone interested in the history of the city who also doesn’t mind the necessary walking as part of the tour.

Thomas took me all over the city, he knew interesting today bits of information that I wouldn’t have found in the tourist brochures, he was kind, professional and entertaining.
I had visited several of the attractions that Thomas had originally planned so he sat down with me, pulled out his map, and completely revised the schedule and I appreciated his flexibility and willingness to improvise.
I had a wonderful day!

This was by far one of my favorite experiences in Budapest - we had a very knowledgeable guide with good English skills and the pace of the tour was also appreciated. We saw quite a bit in a small amount of time, but it never felt rushed or that too much time was spent at any one location. We also learned how to use public transportation from a local on this tour which was also helpful for getting around the city later as well. And the strudel...yum!!! I highly recommend this tour.

This was an excellent walking tour of Budapest. Greg was our tour guide and he did a wonderful job of explaining the history of the city as we walked to various sites. As the walking bridge over to the Buda side was still closed, we took a bus over and he explained how to return to the Pest side so we could explore at our leisure after the tour was over. Highly recommend!

We took this walking tour the day after we arrived. Our tour guide was fantastic. She took us to most of the main tourist attractions while giving us a basic history of Hungary and explaining the things we were seeing. This was the perfect start to our city break. It whetted our appetite for a more detailed look at some of the places we had visited. our guide made a point of finding out what we were planning to do and marked everything on a city map for us and explained and showed us how to use the public transport when we asked. I can only praise our friendly and knowledgeable guide. A real confidence boost to getting around Budapest and not missing anything.

We had a terrific tour with Greg yesterday. He is so knowledgeable about the city and zipped us all over town. It really helped to take this tour on our first day as he acquainted us with the top sites which was very useful in planning the rest of our stay. His tour feels fresh and personal — not at all scripted or rote. He also took us to some “hidden treasures” which were very special and not advertised. Highly recommend!

We had a small group (5) tour with Greg on Tuesday morning. He was very knowledgeable, open to questions and a pleasant personality.
The strudel stop included a non alcoholic beverage and about 8 different types of strudel.
We took buses and the underground which were included so covered a lot of areas of the city.
We did not enter any buildings but saw them from the outside.
We would highly recommended Greg and felt it was a great introduction to the city.

A very thorough and informative review of Budapest. Petra is an expert guide, making sure we were a complete set as we explored the city on foot and metro. The group was small and not overwhelming as what sometimes happens when the count is too large. Fun group! Petra is an effective communicator and clearly knows the city and it’s history. Thank you, Petra for hosting and sharing beautiful Budapest with us <3

I do not have the option of choosing only one person, do you not sell single tickets?
Written August 11, 2022
I am afraid I don't know the answer to this question. Can you contact the seller directly - go onto the website of the organiser. I am sure that the company I used via Tripadvisor would accept single tickets. Sorry I can't be more help. If you do manage to get on the tour and Thomas is your guide - it is definitely worth it - he was a great guide.

What is the maximum size of this group tour? Is it really 50 people?
Written December 8, 2019
I asked this question from the tour guide and the answer is 20 people at the maximum. We were only 5 during last Saturday’s tour and it went very well, more interactive and personal.

We will have our 8 year old with us. Would this tour be good for a child or the right atmosphere for a child?
Written November 30, 2019
I really enjoyed the tour and found it incredibly helpful. I'm not sure how engaged a child would be on this tour. It very much depends on the child.
I was very impressed with Absolute Tours, and they had a variety of ways to explore Budapest. I would go on to their website or contact them about possibilities for tours which involve children.
