About the operator
- Sarah B00Best Tour in Warsaw!!!!!Marzena is an incredible tour guide and she is passionate about he history of the Warsaw Ghetto and the Ghetto Uprising. I was moved to tears several times because her explanations are so vivid and she loves the subject matter. The tour takes you to different important points of the Ghetto - so that you not only get a powerful sense of the history but you get a sense of how LARGE the ghetto was. There was so much I didn't know about it - and Mazena was able to answer all my questions - not only about history but about Warsaw now. Her sensitivity and her ability to give rich context to the events of the Ghetto Uprising made this tour the best tour I've taken in my month of traveling!
- Rahul C00Praga Walking Tour in June 2023 - Excellent ExperienceThe Praga tour with my guide Marzena was a truly memorable and authentic experience. During the walking tour, Marzena was highly informative and knowledgeable, and she provided me with numerous unique insights about the Praga district of Warsaw. I also ended up learning a lot about Warsaw and Poland in general.
- Susan F00Mary was an awesome and knowledgeable guide!I booked this tour with Marzena (Mary) for myself, my 19 year old daughter and my 12 and 13 year olds. It was a three hour walking tour that hit all of the highlights of the Warsaw ghetto. Mary was INCREDIBLE! She's a veritable fount of knowledge about the historical and social aspects of this area, and she's an entertaining and engaging guide. It's heavy content for younger kids, but she did a great job of balancing the information for everyone on the tour. The price is reasonable and you get to really see some incredible sites and learn about the history of the ghetto. Highly recommend!!
- Jill_R_C00POLIN TOURS - THE BEST TOUR OF WARSAWMary picked me up at the airport for a solo 5 hour tour of Warsaw, and then dropped me off at the airport after the tour. Her car was new and comfortable. Mary is extremely knowledgable about all parts of Warsaw, and spoke English fluently. I learned a lot about all parts of Warsaw and enjoyed walking and driving through all parts of the city.
- Ken21054800Take this tour, you will be glad you did!My wife and I booked this private tour to increase our knowledge and understanding of the life of the Jewish people in the Warsaw Ghetto. Our Guide Mary did not disappoint! Mary was full of information backed up with photos and context which provided a real insight into the daily lives of those who were forced to live within its walls. We saw parts of the original walls and houses preserved for future generations lest they forget. What today is a car park for adjacent flats was the very site where thousands of people were herded onto cattle trucks to begin their journey to the death camp at Treblinka. Very difficult to really appreciate the horror of this place when marked by the retention of a single brick wall. A nearby monument in memory of those wo were deported is a moving place. Mary was more than happy to answer all and any questions and the three hours just flew by. We learned so much Mary so thank you for your knowledge, friendliness and consideration shown to my wife and her mobility issues. The Ghetto was a much bigger area than we imagined!! We enjoyed the short bus ride to the outer edge of the Ghetto! Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn the history of Warsaw whilst enjoying all it has to offer as a tourist.
- BecksJones8100AmazingAbsolutely loved this tour. Marie was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Warsaw Jews. Our walking tour through the site of the ghetto was absolutely fascinating. A must for anyone visiting Warsaw with an interest in WWII and Jewish history.
- Shelbyvina00Tour on layover time5/5 Had a great experience. Guide met us during a layover from Istanbul to the US. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Warsaw ghetto and the Jewish extermination. Her knowledge of history was amazing! She made sure to point out, cultural and historical points. I would totally recommend this tour. We are season travelers and have encountered hundreds of tour operators. This one was one of our best.
- garryrain00This tour was time and value well spent! This tour was the best tour I’ve taken! Marie and I walked throughout the former Warsaw Ghetto. She has a very high level of proficiency with the English language. I’m hard of hearing but because of her clarity of speech I understood everything she said. She has the knowledge! She knows the names, the dates, the area, the history and she carries a portfolio of pictures from the war years that contrast what we’re seeing now in that location to what we would had seen back in the day. The tour exceeded my highest expectations.
- Audrey G00Great tour of a difficult placePolin Tours’ tour of the Warsaw Jewish Ghetto was outstanding. Mary was extremely knowledgeable, and able to invite and respond well to our questions. She had obviously acquired an empathetic sense of the awful things that happened in WW II, but also provided historical perspective on a much broader context too. Strongly recommend her.
- Gail S00A tour not to be missed!Learning the historical timeline of what happened to the Polish Jewish population during the Nazi’s occupation was heart wrenching. I had some knowledge but greatly expanded my understanding of their devastation. Mary, our guide was a wealth of information. Her pace was comfortable, allowing time for photos and questions. Highly recommend!
- dorissW4525UQ00Highly recommend this tour! The tour with Mary was the highlight of our time in Warsaw! Communication before the tour was great and we were picked up directly from our accomodation. We very much appreciated Mary's broad knowledge of the history of the Warsaw ghetto and the horrific events that happened here during the second world war. It was a very moving experience to walk through the streets, to hear the stories and to see the places. Mary was an excellent guide and answered all our questions. She also gave us some valuable tips about the different museums which we visited in the following days. We highly recommend this tour.
- ThisPlceHsEverything00Exceptional tour with a weird endingI debated writing this review, but ultimately, I know it's information I wish I had known prior to having this experience. First and foremost, the tour is exceptional. Mary is extremely knowledgable about the subject area, is passionate, and is able to answer just about any question. The subject area of this tour is obviously a sensitive one, but Mary does a fantastic job appropriately highlighting the atrocities that occurred while still honoring the humanity of those who were subjugated. As a long-time history fan, I could not have asked for more from this tour. Truly, one of the better tours I've ever taken. All in all, the tour was fantastic, worth every penny, and up until the last 25 minutes, was the highlight of our trip. As we wrapped up at the Polin museum, we had about 25 minutes left in the window that had been reserved for our tour. We asked Mary if she would mind taking us by an ATM because we needed more cash. Now, to be clear: we had the cash to pay for the tour, but part way through (when Mary was off paying for parking), we both agreed that the tour was so great that we really wanted to give Mary a substantial tip-- and to do that, we needed to stop for more cash. Since we had time leftover, we didn't think this would be an issue. Mary cheerfully agreed to take us by an ATM back toward our rental in Old Town with the same affable, lovely demeanor she had the whole tour. We stopped at the first ATM, but it was out of order. I found another ATM up the block on my phone and Mary drove us up to it. While my friend got out to try the machine, Mary and I were chatting and I asked if there was a way for her to take a digital payment, like Venmo, Paypal, Applepay, etc. (my thinking was if this ATM doesn't work, we at least could still tip her another way), but Mary said no. About that time, my friend got back to the car and told us that the second ATM was also not working. We still had about 20 minutes left in our scheduled tour time and Mary asked if there was another ATM we wanted to try. I brought up the Google results on my phone and showed her, asking if any of those were convenient. She sort of pushed my phone away without really looking at it and said she didn't know, which is fair enough. About that time, she said, "This is not good" and her whole demeanor changed. Mary raised her voice and very sharply said, "You have two choices: you either give me the money you have on you now or I take you to the police." We were shocked. This was a full 180 on how she had been the entire tour and even 2 minutes prior. We both said, "No no, you misunderstand, we want to pay you and aren't trying to get out of that, we just wanted to get more cash to---" and she cut us off, again sharply shouting that she would just take us to the police then because she needs her money. She kept threatening the police, demanding to know how much cash we had, and wouldn't let us speak without talking over us about how she was going to take us to the police. When it was clear this wasn't going anywhere positive, we gave her all of the cash we had on us (580 PLN-- which is 60 PLN more than the 520 PLN cost of the tour, so she still happily took that much smaller tip, I guess). We got out of the car and wordlessly, Mary flipped the vehicle around in the middle of the road and sped off. We found ourselves standing there in the road in shock, with a full 15 minutes left on our scheduled tour time. The whole situation was absolutely surreal. We are experienced world travelers and have visited many countries, with many different cultural norms, where we have taken many different tours. We have never, ever been spoken to like that. It was so weird that we spent the rest of our trip in shock. To be totally clear: Mary’s behavior at the end there was not at all like it was the rest of the incredible tour and we didn’t experience that kind of hostility anywhere else in Poland (including on the tour we took from a different company two days later, which was also wonderful). In Mary's defense: we said we needed more money to pay, but we didn't specify that we were trying to get more money to tip her 100% of the tour cost. She clearly must have thought we were trying to short her on the actual cost of the tour – I just wish she had let us clarify before threatening to have us arrested. Maybe she was having a uniquely bad day or had recently been ripped off by other tourists, I don’t know. So, the tour is great! EXCEPTIONAL actually. I highly suggest it. Just make sure you bring enough cash to give a healthy tip on top of your tour cost. I would suggest to Mary that she offer options to prepay for the tours as well, especially if there’s clearly some serious issues related to folks paying.
- Gordon T00Warsaw Ghetto Walking TourThis 4.5 hour walking tour of the former Warsaw Ghetto was absolutely incredible...a very powerful & educational experience...the guide, Mary, met me at my hotel & we got started right away...she was excellent; very knowledgeable & a great teacher...you could tell that Mary had a passion for the history...5 years ago, I walked through the former ghetto on my own, trying to see & learn on my own...I'm so glad that I went with a guided tour this time, as I learned/experienced so much more...I am a high school history teacher & I will now include the material I learned on this tour in my classes...I highly recommend the guide, Mary...she is excellent!!!
- miriamkJ8610BT00Warsaw GhettoMary was amazing and it was very nice to listen to her. She knows her history and facts. She is also shown interest in her guests and is willing to enjoy moments with them She was right on time for the start of the tour. Very friendly, attentive and pleasant. Answered to your questions. Explains everything clearly and you become fascinated by her explanation. No time to get bored. The 3 hour tour passed quickly
- Trail0556811029500Great ExperienceThis tour was amazing, our tour guide Mary was super knowledgeable able to recall names, dates, locations, the history of Poland and the way things worked. We got to see all of the preserved parts of the Ghettos around Poland. Its surreal to see history from the past and the darkness now among the current modern age. Highly recommend.
