About the operator

- martagS3504PN0 contributionsAn unforgettable tour of Warsaw with CezaryAn unforgettable tour of Warsaw with Cezary , Cezary was an outstanding guide who made our tour of Warsaw an unforgettable experience. His knowledge of the city's history and culture was encyclopedic, and he delivered it all with a passion and enthusiasm that was contagious. We started our day in the Praga district, where we saw some of the city's most interesting street art and learned about the area's rich history. We then crossed the river to the Old Town, where we were amazed by the beautiful architecture and the many historical landmarks. Cezary was a great storyteller, and he brought the history of Warsaw to life for us. He also gave us some great tips on where to eat and drink, and we followed his recommendations for dinner that night.Written June 29, 2024

The food was truly excellent, and we left thoroughly satisfied with every aspect of the experience. Our guides, Eduardo and his partner, demonstrated remarkable patience in handling such a large group. Thank you again for making this possible. I recommend this tour and company to all people coming to Lisbon. Thank you Thank you!!Written October 10, 2023
- r0adg0ddess0 contributionsSolo Tour of Warsaw GhettoCesar was an excellent guide. Solo tours are the way to go if you want to go at your own pace and you are willing to accept that you might not see everything. I requested that the tour focus on the Jewish Ghetto and the two uprisings and then I enjoyed the conversation and the sites and history I was introduced too. I could take as many photos as I wanted, ask any questions I had, the entry fees are not included so if you want to go into any place you will need to pay fees for you and your guide but as long as you understand that the tour will not be extended you can make those choices. And if you want to stand somewhere long enough to have cried your tears you can. Highly recommend.Written May 30, 2023

This is not a food tour. Our "guide" met us at the column and led us 100m to the first stop, then left us alone outside to queue for a table for 30 minutes. We then sat down and he ordered a set of mixed perogi and some borscht, then basically sat in silence and left us to make conversation ourselves. Then we walked 100m to the next stop and repeated the same experience. Finally we were told the third stop was cancelled because it was busy, and that was that. There was no tour, no information, just food ordered for us and a mute "guide". Also, doing the maths the food itself probably came to about half the price of the tour, so it was a complete rip off.

Dear hw128, thank you for providing us with your feedback. As a general rule, we recommend our guides fill their guides with history and food, but without annoyance; but we apologize that it did not work out for you. We will take your feedback into account and make sure that our guides focus on history and food constantly (while giving you space to enjoy the food).
Regarding the “busy restaurant” issue, our team is carefully monitoring it and is expected to solve it efficiently and accurately. We hope you will give us another chance to show you what we can do.

The tour included two wonderful restaurants and one that was awful. We ate in old town and began with a charcuterie at a famous restaurant with clocks all over it. We then had a fabulous soup at a restaurant that was in one of the few buildings that survived WW 2. Dinner was at a dingy restaurant with flies buzzing the food. The entree, pig knuckle, was disgusting. This said, the guide (Cesar) was the pits. Boring, mundane, and very negative about the Ukrainians. He declared the Univ of Warsaw as “radical left” and made right-wing comments on other topics. This food tour was billed as a “half day.” It was 2.5 hours and not worth it.

Dear Carolina,
Please accept our most sincere apologies on behalf of the whole company!
We are extremely sorry that your experience with us was less than satisfactory.
Here at The Walking Parrot, we value our customers and their opinions. We want to ensure you that we have taken your review seriously and that we are doing everything we can, so that something like this doesn’t ever repeat. Outstanding service and customer satisfaction is our priority, which is why we are making further investigation to better understand the situation described and implement ways to improve in order to stop this from ever happening again, as this is not our standard way of operating.
Apart from that, we would like to state that The Walking Parrot does not encourage the guides nor any of the employees to express their personal political views in the workplace. Therefore, please know that the guide in question will go under review, so we can have a better understanding of what happened and ensure it will not happen again. As a tour operator, we want to deliver an inclusive and non-political Food Tour for all.
Regarding the restaurant, we are shocked to hear this as this is one of the best restaurants in Warsaw and all the restaurants that are a part of our tour are all carefully chosen, and it is very rarely that we receive complaints regarding the dishes and ambiance.
We are happy to hear that you did enjoy the two other restaurants and got to learn more about Warsaw and Polish cuisine.
Once again, we are extremely sorry for any inconvenience, we are thankful for your review and will use it to improve our services.
Should you ever again find yourself in one of the cities we operate in, please know that we would really like to change your perspective about The Walking Parrot and transmit to you the experience we are famous for.
Kind regards,
The Walking Parrot

The Tour was Amazing from the beginning until the very end. Paola was an extraordinary guide and really chatty to have our close conversations with. We were a group of 3 but after no time Paola made us all feel completely at ease. She explained every single dish in a very detailed manner and also a lot of things about the Polish culture you can tell that she has a great passion for Warsaw and that she completely enjoys the job she is doing. I absolutely recommend this tour as it was a very pleasant experience and especially tasty. We also got to learn some Polish on the way lol.

We easily found our guide at Sigmund Column in Old Town. We ate at 4x different restaurants in Old Town: one for each course. Each meal was traditional Polish cuisine and was incredibly tasty. Our guide gave explanations of the food. Relaxed atmosphere with the other couple and was easy to make conversation. The restaurants were unique with character and authentic/traditional decor. Recommend not to eat any lunch beforehand as you will eat loads and loads of tasty food on this activity!

When it comes to food tasting, we got a lot of food that was tasty and traditional. We definitely did not go home hungry. I would recommend it for sure. However, our guide was not really educated about Poland or Polish food and was missing some confidence and words when speaking in English. I am sure that the guide will make progress in the future, so thumbs up altogether😊

I had high hopes for this tour, but from the start it seemed doomed. There were 15 of us on this tour but it seems the restaurants we visited were either not expecting us or thought we were a much smaller group. I had signed up as a vegetarian, but the tour guide was completely unaware and said no one told him. The service was very slow. Our tour guide was often absent and we had little to no explanation about food or culture or anything else you might hope for on a food tour in a foreign city. As a result after 2 1/2 hours and visiting 3 establishments, my total consumption included a small piece of pickled herring, a slice of bread, a small shot of vodka, some beet soup and a 1/4 of one pierogi. It was so bad that different group members were educating others by reading off of Google about different foods, etc. I’m not sure what the deal was with our tour guide, but he really didn’t have the personality for this kind of event. We bailed after 2 1/2 hours because we felt our time was being wasted. We weren’t learning anything and we certainly weren’t eating. Needless to say, I wouldn’t recommend this tour to anyone. The tour guide seemed exasperated and overwhelmed, and did understand that things were going south, but said it was not his fault -that the tour operator was badly organized. Well we agree.

Our guide was not a local so wasn’t very knowledgeable about the area. The food tasted good but we didn’t have a big selection, which we expected based on the advertised description, my partner also didn’t get to try some of the starters because there wasn’t enough to go around. We only got one drink included, a shot of vodka, so again not as described/expected. All other drinks had to be bought separately. Dessert was a disaster, we ended up waiting in a tiny noisy ice cream parlour for a cream filled water cone (it was nice). There was no sense of being a local or enjoying local cuisine. We were lucky to have joined another couple in the group who was well travelled so we entertained ourselves. Very sweet guide but the tour left a lot to be desired, especially for the price. I could have done a better job myself and left the tour thinking that I should have done.

I think describing the experience as a food tour is a little misleading - on food tours I've been on you usually go to different places that specialise in specific dishes, but here the meal was served in one restaurant, with just a snack in another beforehand and some vodka in a bar after, with all three close enough together it arguably removed the "walking" aspect. The food served generally was good but I had better versions of most of the dishes elsewhere in Warsaw (with the exception of a pork knuckle in the second location which was genuinely delicious) so I didn't feel like I was being shown around "best of Warsaw".
All of that said, it was made worth it thanks to Cesar, who was a friendly and really informative and gave us a short tour after the meal, pointing out things we would never have noticed.
So the issue really is just the expectations - rather than a Food walking tour I think this would be better described as "meal with a local/Old Town walking tour" - which if that's what you're expecting, is a good afternoon out.

Dear Cara,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your experience with our food tour in Warsaw. We're sorry to hear that the tour didn't meet your expectations.
We appreciate your suggestions regarding the description of the tour, but as you stated in your review, the tour did have the walking aspect as well. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the meal and the pork knuckle in the second location. Please know that the restaurants we work with are amongst the best ones in Warsaw. Our guests are usually extremely satisfied with the amount and variety of food and drinks to the point where they skip dinner that day, but we will take this into consideration and see if we can include some more options.
We are also happy to hear that you found our tour guide to be friendly, informative and knowledgeable about the local area. We will certainly pass on your compliments to him.
Thank you again for your valuable feedback.
Best regards,
The Walking Parrot team

hi - i have food restrictions (no pork or alcohol) would that be accommodated?
Written October 30, 2021
I'd contact the company to see if they can serve an alternate to the pork knuckle main dish - other than that, I think the rest is OK. They will try to serve you Vodka - small shot - also explain that you don't drink. It was a wonderful tour.

Are the restaurants able to accommodate food allergies? My daughter is celiac "allergic to gluten"
Written May 5, 2019
Hello, sorry for the delay in the answer. Yes, the restaurants are ready for it, however we have to admit that the food hasn't been designed accounting for it. So yes, we will be happy to adapt for you daughter different dishes (Please book with 24 hours before or at least call us first so that we have time to prepare it), although we have to say that the experience will not be as complete as the parents will have.
