- Jennifer M0 contributionsVisit to AuschwitzExcellent tour guide , who knew the answer to every question we asked. Vast knowledge of his country’s history . The tour itself is harrowing but we all felt as if it’s a journey that all adults should make . I would highly recommend the company Wroclaw sightseeing tours, they were very professional and we learned so much from Martin , who was our guide . Thank you for this extremely thought provoking tour.Written February 15, 2020

- Christian_Kitchener0 contributionsA Superb Tour Of Stalag Luft III and The Associated Sights In ZaganWhile visiting friends in Berlin I took the opportunity to visit the iconic location of the Great Escape, Stalag Luft III. While I frequently visit places like this on my own, I thought that to make the most of my time I would find a guide and it paid dividends. In this case Marcin from Wroclaw Sightseeing Tours joined my group and led us on the tour. It would be hard to find a friendlier, more patient, more passionate and more knowledgeable guide that kept the four of us, including two teens, engaged and interested the entire time. Marcin met us at 10.00 am in the museum car park and started the tour by giving context for Stalag Luft III, not just as a prison camp, but as a part of the town of Zagan and more broadly as part of Polish history. We then were taken into the museum and because it was a quiet day in December, effectively had both Marcin and the Museum Curator as our personal guides. While small, the museum not only captures the heart of the story, but include many wonderful relics from the camp and the escapes. We then visited the reproduction hut just outside the museum and had a chance to see what it really would have been like for the escapers to live and work in the camp. For added realism, the huts weren't heated and so you could get even closer to the lives of the prisoners, From there we went into the forest and walked the same ground the prisoners and escapers did, including the tunnel itself, the cooler, hospital and numerous iconic hut locations. From there we visited the station, again made famous in the movie and then finally the memorial to the 50, built by the prisoners themselves. For anyone interested in WWII or who grew up with the film, the Great Escape, this is simply an unmissable tour. Even if you're only vaguely familiar with the story or have a passing interest in the story then you should also visit. This is a rare opportunity to get close to a story of danger, heroism and ultimately tragedy. It's not often you can get so close to history. The icing on this cake for this tour was Marcin and Wroclaw tours. I can't recommend him enough. Excellent communication, punctual, not hurried and perhaps most importantly a real depth of knowledge and a passion for the subject. The only problem was that now I've done one tour with Marcin, I may have to fly back to do another one of his tours!Written January 12, 2020

- Steve and Julia B0 contributionsImpressive Castle worth seeingDamien was our tour guide and did a great job of taking care of us and leading us on the tour. We were collected at our hotel and were joined by another couple. On the 1.5 hr trip over to the castle, Damien provided interesting information about the history of Poland and the sites we saw on the way over. We were provided with a bottle of water and a snack for the drive. Upon arriving at the castle, Damien had already made the reservation so we went right into the castle where Damien lead us on a tour of the castle. The castle is magnificent and well worth seeing. After the tour of the castle, Damien offered us the opportunity to tour the tunnels under the castle build by the Nazi's in WWII. We paid for that tour ourselves. Damien was not allowed to guide us on a tour of the tunnels. The tour is only offered in polish but we were given audio tour headsets to listen to recordings in english. The tunnels were very interesting to see. It was obvious that Polish tour guide was providing more info that what we received in the english recordings. It was still worth seeing the tunnels. After the tunnel tour, Damien offered us several options for lunch and he helped us order off the menu in Polish. We at at the Castle and the food was great. We then headed to the Church of Peace. Damien explained some of the history of the church. The church plays an audio explanation of the church that can be heard through the church. The audio that was playing when we arrived was in Polish, Damien arranged for the English recording to be played next for us to listen to. The church is massive and very elaborate inside. Well worth seeing. The tour ended with a 1 hr drive back to Wroclaw. Damien was a great tour guide and the tour was well worth it.Written December 16, 2019
- Steve and Julia B0 contributionsImportant to see - Important to have a guide get you through the processOur tour guide was Matthew. He did a great job of taking care of us and leading us through the process. We were picked up next to our hotel. Matthew explained the itinerary for the day when we got into the van. He provided us with a bottle of water and a croissant each. Auschwitz is about 2.5 to 3 hrs away from Wroclaw depending on the traffic. Matthew offered to stop at anytime along the way for drinks, food, and toilet - we did stop 1x. Matthew provided information about Poland and the concentration camps on the drive over. When we arrived at the concentration camps Matthew drove us by Birkenau first to give us a feel for that camp and explained we would tour that camp 2nd. At Auschwitz Matthew explained the whole process of how we would be put into an english speaking tour with a different guide. He explained how the tour at Auschwitz would work, how long it would take, where to meet afterward, and where to get food, drink, toilets if needed. Our Auschwitz tour guide was very good and explained what we saw in depth in a somber but interesting way. The Auschwitz tour took about 1.5 hrs and the time is spent about half inside buildings and outside. After the Auschwitz tour we had about 15-20 minutes to use the toilets and/or get food and drink. Then Matthew took us to Birkenau where we meet the same tour guide that took us through Auschwitz. The tour of Birkenau took about 1.5 hrs - we were outside for most of the time. After the tours of the camps finish Matthew provides opportunities to get lunch or start the drive back with possible stops on the drive for lunch. Overall Matthew took great care of us and made sure all the connections with the different aspects of the tour worked. Well. Auschwitz is very busy with about 13000 visitors per day so it was well worth having a tour guide like Matthew to help us navigate the process. Highly recommend this tour.Written December 15, 2019

Had a really good trip with Mateusz to visit Stalag Luft 3 museum and the north compound where Tom, Dick and Harry were dug. We got a private tour which was good as Mateusz is very informed and answered lots of questions that we had. The museum is small but worth it and you are then taken to the site itself, where there is a marking on the floor where the tunnel Harry started and ended. I would highly recommend both the trip, if you like your WW2 sites but more importantly I would highly recommend Wroclaw sightseeing tours.

Wow what an experience and far exceeded expectation.
Our tour guide Marcin was amazing. He picked us up from the hotel at 8am and during the 2 hour road journey to Zagan he pointed out many historical facts of the areas that we passed.
We arrived in Zagan and started the tour in the museum. It was very well laid out and the staff at the museum also contributed many facts.
After this Marcin took us to see tunnel Harry again his knowledge was amazing and put to bed some of the inaccuracies of the film. We all know the film is a dramatisation. We were then shown the theatre the sports area and tunnels Tom, Dick and George. Standing on the site of hut 104 from where the escape began was poignant. We also saw the site of the Cooler made famous by Steve McQueen.
Off then to the memorial which was erected by the POW’s in memory of the 50 escapees that were captured and shot.
Finally it was off to Zagan train station where many of the escapees made their way to what they hoped was freedom.
This tour is very much a must and a part of history we should never forget.
The airmen that were held at Stalag Luft III and Stalag VIII C sacrificed their lives so that we have the freedom that we do today. We owe a duty to these men never to forget their sacrifice and we should keep there memory alive.
Thank you to Marcin who made it an exceptional day.

Picked up at accommodation at 8am and arrived at site 10.40. As it was Sunday the museum did not open until 10 but the reconstructed hut was so we could explore that. As we visited on the 80th anniversary there were no on-site guides available as there were commemorative ceremonies. However, our driver, Pavel, did an excellent job in their absence, even translating some of the material in the museum that was only in Polish. On return he dropped us off at the place of our choosing at around 4.20, so all round a great day.

Totally recommend taking this ‘Great Escape’ tour with Martin. Martin is extremely reliable and professional and his vast historical knowledge of WW2 made this excursion so interesting. If you have any interest at all in war history or the story of the great escape, you should definitely do this visit with Martin!

The tour guide was by far the best I've ever travelled with. He was very informative and had a thorough knowledge of the location (Stalag III, memorial & railway station). Pickup was on time & journey was about 2 hrs in a comfortable people carrier. Wear good walking shoes & might need insect repellent during the summer. It was such a good tour & yet not many people travel from Wroclaw - they should it's well worth it!
