We went on the jewish quarter tour which was very educational We went with guide Dale and a big shoutout to him because he’s a fantastic storyteller and a really friendly guy. The tour took about 2,5 hours but it sure didn’t feel like that. In the evening we joined Dale on the polish food and vodka tour and again we were amazed by everything he explained to us. I would recommend doing both of the tours as it really guides you through the history of krakow. WE LOVE YOU DALE!!

I joined his tour on my own, but felt really welcomed by the guide and the others in the group. I really recommend it, especially if you are only in Krakow for a couple of days and don't have time to try lots of restaurants. It was a great way to learn about Polish food and taste some amazing vodkas. The guide also recommended other bars and restaurants to try the next day.

It's also worth mentioning that the vegetarian options were really tasty, especially the soup. I felt like I got a good sample of traditional Polish food, even without the meat.

As a solo traveller this was a great way to meet other people and learn more about the culture of Krakow. Dale was an excellent host with a wealth of knowledge. He took us to some great restaurants that I would not have found on my own. The food and vodka chosen as part of this tour appealed to everyone. We all left with a greater understanding of not only what to order next time but why each dish is so much a part of the Polish lifestyle.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food and vodka tour.... the vodka was nothing like I was expecting! Really delicious. The food was delicious and yes quite stodgy but that’s Polish food for you!
Our guide Alex was amusing and knowledgable and had a clever knack of filling gaps in conversation that can sometimes arise in groups that don’t know each other. It made for a relaxed and fun vibe throughout the tour. I’d totally recommend this tour.

My group of 7 had a brilliant time on the food tour. Dale is knowledgeable and passionate about his work. We ate a fine selection of different foods and vodkas and learnt the history of each dish. Would recommend this food tour, or any of Dales tours to anyone visiting Krakow.

This was a great way to try some traditional Polish food and drink while in Krakow, and learn about the origins in the meantime. The guide, Dale, was excellent and full of knowledge. Thoroughly enjoyed the night and would recommend for anyone looking for things to do in Krakow. Make sure you try the Mad Dog shot!

Was looking forward to some fantastic Polish food and vodka considering it worked out to be just £50 for tour. I’d rather have had a sausage hot dog from market, would have tasted better, been hotter and cost me about a fiver ! The only food I enjoyed were 3 small dumplings.
The vodka shots were not up to much and were tiny.
Also the last place we visited, the staff were extremely rude. It was called U Babcii Maliny. I and others got the impression they wanted us in and gone. As soon as we sat down the worst dish of the night was brought out. 2 scoops of cold mash potatoes and some sort of stuffed sausage. No sauce or vegetables. Then we had a stone cold lump of pastry with some sort of filling. Hardly anyone finished it. No drinking water available unless you bought bottled. Wouldn’t accept cards for payment if you wanted a drink. They tried to over charge one of the group for drinks also. Made such a fuss and when it was confirmed that they were infact in the wrong, a half hearted apology was offered. All I can say is avoid. A total waste of an evening. For £50 you could have gone out and had amazing Polish food and some decent vodka.
I also see that another group members review has been removed !
I have tried to contact the operator of this tour and I’m being ignored.

Hi Linda, I was very disappointed to read your review about the food tour. We visit three separate restaurants on the tour and all are normally excellent, I can only apologise if they weren't on this occasion. I may be wrong however, but I feel from reading your comments, that much of your grievances seem to come from your experience in just the last restaurant, rather than from the evening as a whole. You haven't mentioned much about the first hour and a half of the evening. Regardless, if any of the restaurants weren't up to the usual standard on this particular evening, then that reflects badly on us as a company. The vast majority of the reviews we receive are 5 star, as are the individual reviews for each restaurant on their own pages, we would not take our tours there on a weekly basis if it was anything less. I think from speaking to other guests and from reading your comments however, it is possible that the last restaurant were simply having a bad night on this particular evening and you have our sincerest apologies on their behalf. I don't know if this is enough for the whole tour to have been described as "awful" though and possibly this isn't a fair reflection of the tour as a whole. Nonetheless, there is no excuse for the waitress being rude to you and again I can only apologise on her behalf. I will be speaking to the restaurant's management about this. It seems the service you received wasn't what City Walks expect, but given that this is not the usual case, I do believe it might have been an isolated incident and so there is probably very little we as a tour company could have done to have prevented this. If this was the case every week, obviously that would be a different matter. I will try to make sure it doesn't happen again and thank you for bringing it to my attention. As for the food; the dishes tried, particularly in the last venue, are usually very popular and to be served cold on this occasion is disappointing. The "stuffed sausage" dish you are referring to is actually a very popular traditional Polish dish called Golabki. It is possible some Polish cuisine might just not be to your taste, but regardless it should not be served cold. I do also feel however, that perhaps you have exaggerated the truth a little in your review. For instance, the shots you referred to as 'small', are actually standard 25ml size (in fact two of the shots served in one of the restaurants are actually larger than the standard size at 35ml). Also you possibly thought the shots weren't "decent vodka" because two of the five shots were not vodka, they were honey mead, a traditional polish liquor. Your guide will have explained this during the tour. You have also exaggerated about the price of the tour, which works out to be £10 less than you have quoted (or £15 less if purchased on one of our walking tours). In relation to the drinking water, many restaurants in Krakow do not offer tap water for free, as the water from the tap is sometimes not clean enough for drinking and so, choose to serve bottled water instead; which of course has to be paid for. This is restaurant policy and is out of our hands, but I understand how frustrating it can be, particularly coming from somewhere like the UK, where free drinking water is a given. To get around this problem we do actually provide water included on the tour, in two of the three restaurants you visited, which again you haven't alluded to in your review. The reason we do not supply water in the last venue is simply because we tend to find that by the third restaurant, most guests are ordering wine and beer and so we don't usually need to provide water again, but we can certainly provide water in all three restaurants in future. Also in regards to your comments at the bottom of your review, it is impossible for a business to remove a review. If this were the case then every business would remove every bad review. If a review has disappeared then the guest themselves has removed it. Also we have received no emails, calls or facebook messages from you on this matter. I can understand your frustration if you feel you have tried to contact us and are being ignored, but the reality is, we have received no contact from you whatsoever; not in our junk mail, not anywhere. As you booked your tour through Tripadvisor, it is possible you have been contacting Tripadvisor, or someone else by mistake. We are always very responsive when it comes to our guests, particularly in a matter such as this, so again it was disappointing to hear you felt this way. I in turn, have attempted to message you on this matter after seeing your review and have had no response. I can understand how all of these small grievances when compiled together, have combined to leave you feeling frustrated enough to leave such a review. However, we are a small company and we genuinely try our best to make sure all of our guests leave happy. The countless glowing reviews on our Tripadvisor page will support this, but for whatever reason, on this particular evening this did not happen and you have our apologies for this. I would ask in future however, that either you contact us directly, or that you are at least as fair and honest with your comments as possible, as I feel your review is not really a fair reflection of what people can expect from this tour, or what they can expect from City Walks Krakow as a company. I have attempted to contact you to discuss this matter further and haven't heard back from you. If you would like to reach us directly, all the information can be found on our website.

We booked this without much expectations yet amid a very wet evening, we were treated to a great full course meal that warms the body. Soup, pierogi including a sweet blueberry stuffed pierogi, a meat roll (embotido wrapped in lettuce with meat and rice), dessert, lots and lots of vodka shots plus a "mad man" Vodka shot. Definitely worth the money. Ania, our guide, was amazing and explained the cuisine to us in good details.

Plus: the food were really delicious. Most food tours just serve tasteless food since we're tourists and know no better, but this one define my served very well done and tasty food. And plating was good.

The drinks were a lot and definitely had a good tasting of the various vodka/mead in town. (I'm just not sure how they handle guests who can't really drink a lot)

Minus: it's a sit down meal, and this means there's less interaction among guests (well, maybe it's our problem) but maybe this can be improved by starting with a cocktail time.

Overall, it's very good and I'll remind it. Value for money, indeed.
