- juliepP3749IX0 contributionsextremely humbling and thought provokingMy husband and I pre booked this tour when we knew we were coming to Krakow for our city break. We were picked up from our hotel by Bartek who was extremely polite, helpful and knowledgeable and also very kind. We collected on our way 3 other couples and made our way to Auschwitz. On arrival, we were given a packed lunch and had something to eat before being given our tickets and joining the fast track queue to gain entrance and to meet our guide. You do not walk around Auschwitz as an individual but a tour guide takes you through the camp. From the beginning when you walk through a long tunnel and are listening to the names of the dead, you start to feel very humbled and slightly nervous at what you are about to see. Our guide (and I am really sorry but I cant remember her name) was excellent. She was compassionate, empathetic and still emotional. She explained things very clearly and welcomed questions at any point. After visiting Auschwitz 1 you then get back into your mini van and go and see Birkenau and the death camp. Again, it is a very thought provoking place to see and I found myself wandering and just taking in the vastness at the size of the camp. It is really difficult to put into words the things you see, the rooms you visit, the steps you are re tracing of those that died before you but it is definitely something I would recommend you visit; young or old. We should never forget. You also do ALOT of walking so if you struggle keeping a pace, or walking in general you might struggle with this tour.Written September 2, 2024
- Doolie770 contributionsWielichka Salt MineVisited here with friends for a 5 pm guided tour and the whole place were heaving with people queuing in different language rows. Entrance into the bottom section was very gruelling with 378 steps descending the whole way down. Fascinating sculptures carved out of salt were present in various chambers. Very interesting experience, but one visit was adequate owing to the tremendous ascending and descending route.Great experience to have seen this wonderful creation .especially navigating the route with uphill ascent and downhill descent in all the numerous chambers with well lit signage. Alll groups must follow the guide closely. Great gift shop and a cafeteria at the end of the tour. Exit is via two lifts as location was 135 metres down.Written August 15, 2024
- olliegeorge0 contributionsHighly recommendedHighly recommend. We booked to go with a small group but on the day were advised the minibus had broken down so we were taken by car and had our own personal driver who was so friendly and helpful. Communication was great both before and during the trip , Auschwitz was incredibly moving and the salt mine was just incredible. It’s a long day but value for money and highly recommend.Written June 19, 2024
- I8428RZmeredithm0 contributionsAuschwitz and Salt Mine tour, well worth itThe trip was well organized. Pick up was clear and communicated the day before by our driver Mario. Our group of 25-30 people was broken out into 4 vans; my van had 7 people. We drove from Krakow to Auschwitz I where the drivers arranged the tickets and entry. We were provided our headset and met our guide, Patricia, from Auschwitz museum. She provided excellent context and explanation. We then returned to the van and were driven to Auschwitz ll where we met back up with the same guide. Once that was finished we went on to the Salt Mine. We did arrive about 45 minutes before our assigned tour time so we sat at the hotel there for a drink. We then made our way to the line for the English language tour and we're guided by a museum guide (group also a put 25 people. No headsets for this tour, but it wasn't really needed you could hear the guide well enough). The tour organizers offered a pre-ordered box lunch for 50 Polish Zloty per person and we did opt for that. The sandwich was good along with the other items in the bag and it was filling and good to have in the car during the long day.Written June 18, 2024
- amandasS1713PP0 contributionsGroup tripWe were a group of 13 so a group tour was the best option , I contacted krakow discovery who gave me al the costs and info we needed for our visit , I had seen people let down by other companies so was nervous booking but we were not disappointed , collected from our hotel in a comfortable mini bus with a friendly driver who met our guide and she was very informative and passionate , a moving visit which highlighted the atrocious cruelty which was inflicted on so many people , our driver met us to then transfer to Birkenau , again our guide talked and walked us around the camp , a hot day in May so have a sun hat as no shade , Thank you for organisingWritten June 12, 2024

- J7865SAnancyk0 contributionsTrip Advisor did a superb job of coordinating all important details. The guides and drivers knew their jobs.My second visit to this heritage site. It was modernized in some ways compared to my last visit. Found it very interesting and it was laid out very well. The one complaint I have was the duplicate security restrictions. We processed through the first security and scanned our tickets. Then suddenly we had to proceed through a second ticket review process and scan our tickets again. That did not make any sense. It caused some congestion in the line of people waiting to proceed into the Center. The trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mines was the highlight of the day. The sculptors carved by miner was unbelievable. Really enjoyed this part of the trip even more than the Auschwitz. One thing in both tours, this is not made for elderly folks like us. The walking was exhausting but well worth it.Written May 14, 2024

- jimmykC2064PN0 contributionsA slap on the cheek of humanity and a reminder to a World on the edge ..A must visit .. "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it " If you don't know brace yourself, If you've seen movies and read books on the Holocaust .. Visiting the camps and touching its very existence makes it totally real.. Be calm be reflective be peaceful for those that were persecuted and murdered in such an evil way .. and pray that weak humanity never ever resorts to this evil again.Written May 9, 2024

The views were stunning but the driver was the most helpful person ever. Without the right driver it could have been very different
