When nothing is sure — everything is possible. A story of an occupied Polish city shown in a factory owned by a Nazi German who saved over 1,000 Jews. There is no simple story.

      Fascinating
Very thorough explanation of Jewish history connected to krakow. Fascinating stories. Our guide, Mihal, pointed out places where scenes from Schindler’s List were filmed. That was very interesting. The time flew by.

Jacek our guide brought history to life
Our guide Jacek was excellent - clear, knowledgeable and informative. It was a 2.5 hr walking tour at an easy pace, with a 10 min break halfway for WC and snack/drink. Our guide didn’t just tell us facts, he brought it to life with the stories about individuals too. I would recommend these tours without question.

Excellent tour with a really good guide.
Excellent tour. Our guide Tom was so knowledgeable and included stories of real people. We saw so much in 2 and a half hours. The walking pace was just right. There were 17 of us in the group which meant everyone could hear what was said.

A pleasant morning stroll with Damien
My guide was Damien who took us on the Jewish Krakow Walking Tour. We started at the Old Synagogue and ended at Ghetto Heroes Square. At the beginning Damien told us where we’d be going and that we’d have the chance to use a public toilet (3 zloty) and buy water half way round. This was reassuring. There were many opportunities to sit while Damien was talking. There were only around 16 in our group so it felt quite intimate. Damien was interactive and held our interest for the whole 2 1/2 hours. He told us anecdotes from his own life. It was good how he started and finished at the right times. I went in the Eagle Pharmacy afterwards on my own. He gave us tips about other things we could do in Krakow. Thanks, Damien!

Very interesting city tour through Krakau!
We had a super interesting tour through the city of Krakau with our guide Joanna (Nika). She was very knowledgeable and presented the information very enthusiastically, so the 2,5 hours flew by quite quickly. Her English was great to understand. We can definitely recommend the free tour with Walkative / Nika!

      Excellent!!
The Jewish tour with Big Tom was excellent! He made a tough subject matter very informative, thought provoking, and heartwarming. Do not miss this tour! On the way home after the tour my path took me past the New (old) Jewish Cemetary…incredibly atmospheric yet neglected, it was a moving finish to the tour.

Taken a variety of walking tours in Krakow and they have been excellent. This is a complete waste of time and money. Rushed around the museum with little opportunity to view the exhibits but offered a narrative of interpretations... visit the museum, don’t bother with The guided tour..

Dear Peelsd, I am deeply sorry you did not enjoy our tour. We always try to do our best in showing you the exhibition 'Kraków under Nazi Occupation 1939-1945' to make it an interesting and educational experience. We are an external tour company guiding you at the Schindler's Factory, yet we must follow the rules that the museum has for all tour guides and organized groups. An estimated time to spend at the exhibition is 90 minutes, where you can find about 5 h of movies, 4,000 pictures and a lot of information that is not possible to fully explore during a single visit (and that I know also from my personal experience). However, that is why we feel the guiding service may be helpful in this museum. Our guides try to build their own narrative to focus attention on details, essential for the context of what Kraków was facing during WWII. Very often the guide may add other facts and interpretations, if the exhibition does not light the context enough, usually because of an excess of different objects and facts. I am sorry to hear you did not find the guidance attractive and you did not stay with your guide longer, but I understand your need to explore the museum in your own tempo. I hope that you have an otherwise great stay in Poland and decide to give us another chance - we will be waiting for you. Kind regards, Pawel Bujak

Booked the Schindler factory tour prior to leaving the UK. We were met by Matt at the museum. Don’t make the mistake of doing a self guided tour of the museum, book this Walkative guide, you will not regret it. Matt is just bursting with enthusiasm, he is so knowledgeable regarding Schindlers life story and the part he played in the WWII, and in fact the events leading up to the invasion of Poland. In my humble opinion you should try and do the this tour before you go to Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial, you will get more from your visits. Highly recommended.

Lucy, our tour guide, really went out of her way to give us the best possible experience. She is very knowledgeable and told us several very interesting stories related to what is displayed in the museum. The museum itself is located in what once was the (in)famous enamel factory of Oskar Schindler. It is not a museum about ‘Schindler’s List’ though, although Schindler obviously has a fairly prominent place in the museum. Rather than that the museum tells the story of the nearly seventy thousand Jewish people of Kraków who lived (and died) during World War II. The museum is big enough to spend a couple of hours so please take your time to absorb it all. I promise you will learn a lot, especially if Lucy is your tour guide! You can book her via Free Walking Tour by Walkative. The tour costs approximately €15 per person.

I was a bit worried that I'd been a tad ripped off after I'd booked this. Did it on a whim, didn't read the full details and then focused on the bad reviews! The tour cost just under £40 for two adults and a teen, but what I didn't realise was this was literally just the tour and didn't include the museum entrance, which we had to pay in cash on arrival.

However, having been on it, we were all in agreement that it was definitely worth the money.

Our tour guide was brilliant, very knowledgeable. You can obviously go into the museum yourself, everything is explained on the displays in English, but there's a LOT to read and I can imagine when busy, you're going to struggle to get close enough to take it all in.

Our guide walked us through the entire exhibition, giving us all the relevant information, but in a much more personalised way. Hearing her talk about the atrocities of Krakow and particularly the Jewish community, was very sobering and brought tears to my eyes.

As others have noted, don't be mislead by this museum. Oskar Shindler is actually a very small part of this story. It's much more about the Nazi occupation and the fate of the Jews.

A thoughtful and powerful tour which I'd recommend. Our 14 year old stayed engrossed throughout, which is testament to how good it was.

This museum presents a comprehensive overview of how the city of Kraków was subdued by the Nazis and then cleansed of Jews. Our guide was very informative and explained many of the displays , photos and exhibits that make up this museum. Definitely provided a glimpse of how things unfolded in Kraków and then how the Schindler factory was utilised to protect Jews from certain doom elsewhere. This museum is built in front of the factory which one does not get to enter as it no longer exists (one wall remains that we also did not see)
Very informative and honouring of the many Jews and other minorities that were persecuted by the Nazis across Europe.
Well worth the time to see.

Firstly, the tour guide was very easy to find amongst the crowds outside the factory by the bright yellow "walkative" umbrella.

We met out guide Emil outside and headed in as a small group of about 11. We did not have headsets for this tour, Emil would guide us through and stop and gather us as a group to explain some of the exhibits further.

This tour was 1.5 hours long and is ideal if you don't have hours to spend yourself at the museum (I could have quite easily stayed for around 4 hours...there was so much to look at and read!).

Emil would pick out some main points or times to explain from those on display as we went around and his knowledge was excellent. He is clearly experienced and very passionate about the subject and the restoration and preservation of historical sites.

This tour was in English and Emil spoke perfect English and dealt with an annoying group member very well - she seemed to think it was her personal tour and would repeatedly ask questions that had already been answered as despite being a native English speaker, seemed to not understand anyone speaking English without an American accent...

Would highly recommend the tour and Emil for a guided tour of the factory. If you do have 4 hours spare yourself, I would suggest taking the time to go around yourself.

There was an area to leave any backpacks securely and the museum did include a number of staircases.

This tour was very informative. It takes you through Krakow from just before the second world war to the end. It's a great introduction to Krakow and indeed Poland and I'm glad we did it at the beginning of our trip as an overview. Our Polish guide (sorry I've forgotten her name) was very knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions.
It's a lot less about Schindler than I had expected, although you do get to visit his office, that was about the only time he was mentioned.
I would recommend booking this tour as ours was the the last one of the day and all the general tickets had sold out earlier in the day.

Good tour with a wealth of knowledge shared by the tour guide.

If you are booking through Viatar / Trip Advisor, it’s worth noting that the price advertised is for the tour guide and excludes entry to the museum.

Minimal information on OS however still enjoyed.

This is a museum about the occupation of Krakow in WW2 and life under the Nazis. The museum is built next to where Schindler’s factory was located but Schindler only features a little in the narrative so if you are expecting it to be about him saving the Jews you may be more than a little disappointed. Unfortunately, there were many guided tours and for this reason, you are whisked through the museum at lightning speed and so miss out on reading lots of the info and doing the interactive parts. Maybe better to do at your own pace instead.
