Left stranded
Aug 2021
This may be a long review, but we had a long day. Please bear with me.

It seems I purchased this tour without a transfer. I wasn't aware of this until I called the tour company from the meeting point wondering where our ride was. Surprise! I purchased the wrong ticket. I'd like to know how I did that, but that option isn't even available at the time of writing this review. (The company just let me know that they removed this option because it was confusing. I'll attach a screenshot.) Hmm.. go figure. All I know that I was very much under the impression that I was getting a ride there. It was the whole point of booking this tour after all. Now that I know this, I can go back to to the confirmation and see the two words 'without transfer' in the description, but I must have missed that while reading the whole page of pickup instructions and locations. The whole process was very misleading.

Ok, so there we are at the pick up location on the phone with the tour company with a decision to make. Do we try to get to Auschwitz on our own with no time to spare? The company told us on the phone that we couldn't get a refund, but we could get a taxi and meet up with the driver and the rest of the group at the first stop. Fine, they already denied us a refund and this our only day available to do this tour that we were looking forward to. But, nobody told us that not only was there no transportation to get there, but also no transportation to get to the other stops. It cost $60 (prices in USD) for the hour long taxi to Auschwitz and the salt mines are over an hour away from there. Now my wife and I are stranded there and have to decide to either pay over $60 for a taxi to the salt mines and hope we can get home from there or just give up and go home. We did the latter. Nothing like being convinced to pay a bunch of money to rush to a place you'll be stranded at. My guess is that they did this because once we actually showed up to the tour it would be much harder for us to get a refund from Viator.

The tour itself was very good, but this tour is run by the museum. No credit goes to the company for this. They just get you there. In my case, they didn't. We paid $94 for two tickets that we could have purchased directly from the museum for $42. I suppose their $52 was for the confusion, frustration, and handing me tickets I could have purchased myself. Even if you want to do a 'no transfer' tour, just book directly from the museum and donate the extra $52 if you are really set on spending $94. There seriously isn't any added benefit to buying from this company.

They also didn't provide us with the lunch that was included in the ticket. Other people had lunch, but I guess that is also a transfer perk. The phrase for the day was, "Sorry, we can't help you." This was honestly the worst tour experience we have ever had. I wanted to give this company a chance because they had less reviews than the other companies and the tour was longer than the other companies so we thought we'd be less rushed and more relaxed. We should have gone with one of the bigger more reviewed companies.

We are very sorry that this has happened, but unfortunately it happened. However, dear Sir, I would like to correct a few details here: Our company sells a trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau museum in the summer season in several options - that's natural, we want to have different options for different types of customers, after season we turn off some of them, let only these main one. When making a reservation, it is written exactly what is included in a given option and what is not. later, the Viator shows all "included" from all available optins which can actually be confusing, we do not know why it is, but when you enter into the details of the options - you can see exactly what you are ordering, the option you have booked includes only the admission tickets, which is practiced by people traveling in their own cars There is no lunch-box because they only join our groups in the museum and don't have to queue for tickets. You received detailed information 2 days earlier about the option you chose, along with the exact address of the meeting point: "Address: Stanisława Leszczyńska 16, 32-600 Oświęcim, Main entrance" - this indicates a different city, should give you some thought Regarding our help for you, I believe that the company made the right decision advising you to join the group at your own expense, because tickets in museums are personal and non-refundable, there is no possibility of returning them. So you would have to pay for this trip again anyway, because there was no refund option for the tickets we bought you in your name anyway. If you call us 20 minutes after the hour of departure from Krakow and the car was already outside the city and full and there was no place in it, it was the best help from our employees that they could offer you. They also helped you with the entrance because you were late and you would not have entered the first part of the tour without the help of the driver who also took you to the second part while the whole group was waiting I hope that during the next vacation you will book a trip with which you will be satisfied, do not look at the lowest price because this usually has some additional costs or is intended, like ours, for a special group of people, about which we always inform our guests in advance It's also a bit sad to see negative feedback because the customer didn't read the message, maybe there was too much rush here

A good day with Cracow Tours
Sep 2020 • Solo
I went with Crakow Tours and thought they were excellent. I used other companies but find this one to be the best so far. The driver was professional, knowledgeable and engaging.
A visit to Auschwitz- Birkenau is important for everyone. The tour guide we had was really good. The tour was well done and heart-rendering. But it’s the facts, unfortunately.
The Salt Mine was fascinating. I do think some of the light and animation shows created for the public took away from the history and purpose of the mine. Nonetheless a good day and worth the money.
I highly recommend this tour and especially through Crakow tours.

Full day tour to Auschwitz- Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mines from Krakow.
Feb 2020 • Family
We had a brilliantly organised trip. Picked up from outside hotel at 6.15. The tour company had been in touch several times by email and confirmed our pick up time the day before. Our driver Marek was great and gave us lots of information. A family of 5 with our mini van and driver!
We visited Auschwitz at 8am- already getting busy. Marek organised us in and we joined a group with an excellent guide. We had head phones through which we could hear her unscripted and moving account of everything we saw. Back into the van to Birkenau where we rejoined group and guide. A harrowing visit but so important to have been.
From there we travelled 1 hour 20 mins to the mines. We had a bit of a wait but there were plenty of restaurants. We spent two hours walking in the mine again with a group and guide. Very well organised and beautiful. There is a lot of walking but is dry and quite warm.
We were dropped back to our hotel at 5.15- almost a 12 hour day but well worth and seamlessly organised. Our driver had tickets, timings and packed lunches! Highly recommend Cracow Local Tours.

Very easy pick up points, tour coordinator was very organised and spoke very good english. Tour guides were great and very knowledgeable. Tour coordinator booked us tables in a restaurant for lunch which made finding somewhere so much easier. Travel between Auschwitz and Wieliczka was long but had air conditioning Which was nice.

This was a great tour. We did not receive our pick up time until about 15 hours before we left. In saying that, we were picked up at 6:55am and the whole day was as expected. We were given a very good lunch. We chose the meat option and we had two rolls, a banana and a cookie along with a bottle of water. Our driver was very helpful and friendly.

Ideal if you want to pack it all in day
Feb 2020 • Couples
Very comfortable bus and arrived on time. Michael our bus driver was extremely pleasant and efficient. Lunch was provided when we arrived on bus and was of a very high standard. More than adequate to get you through til 6 O’clock. Our guide in Auschwitz-Birkenau was excellent leaving us much food for thought. Duration was perfect. Salt mines were amazing. If you take the tour be prepared for a long day. Left at 7 and didn’t return til 6. If your time is limited it’s a wonderful way to see both theses must see attractions in one day.
