Tour the remarkable and mysterious undergrounds of the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine, available daily with a guided group tour in English.

The Wieliczka Salt Mine was listed as a UNESCO site as one of the first objects in the world. It is not surprising, therefore, that interest in sightseeing increases year by year. The charms of the Mine, its mysterious corridors, chambers, salt sculptures and underground lakes can be enjoyed all year round regardless of the weather.

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the most recognizable tourist attractions in Poland. About 1 million tourists visit every year. The origins of the mine date back to the Middle Ages. In the 16th century, the Wieliczka Salt Mine was the most profitable enterprise in Europe. Profits from salt extraction in the times of Casimir the Great constituted 30% of the entire kingdom's income. The mine draws the attention of many visitors thanks to the healing properties of salt.
  • Guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine gives you a rundown of its history
  • Round-trip transport from Krakow allows you to travel stress free
  • Admission fees included for this popular UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Bottled water keeps you hydrated during the 2-mile (3-kilometer) mine trek
What to Expect
If you're staying at select Krakow hotels, begin your tour with convenient pickup. Otherwise, meet your guide and group at a central location. Climb aboard a minivan, and enjoy the scenery on the 10-mile (16-kilometer) ride to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Wieliczka Salt Mine.
Once you arrive, start your tour of the mine. Learn about its origins in the 13th century from your guide. Ascend almost 450 feet (135 meters) into the earth, including a climb down 350 steps and a walk through a 2-mile (3-kilometer) network of tunnels. Take in vast chambers decorated with salt carvings, a chapel decorated with salt chandeliers, and caverns hosting salt-rich lakes. Throughout your guided tour, listen to your guide's informative commentary through provided headsets.
Climb back to the surface for the ride back to Krakow. Get dropped off at your original departure point at the end of this tour.

Salt mine tour takes 2 hrs plus transport. We went with local tours and bought ticket on the day. It was all very easy and faultlessly organised but personally I was slightly unimpressed by the salt mine. It’s interesting, but not take your breath away...More
