First time visiting a mine. Although the mines are not operating it’s open for visitors. They are 300km in tunnels and over 135mts we ent down below surface. But this was
Like level 3 out of 7. This is not just a mine but a church built underground at over 100mts in depth. Everything that you see from statues to walls to ground is all made of salt. The tour guide was very professional, engaging and very informative. Make sure that you are not claustrophobic.

Amazing trip. The sight we saw were breathtaking and it was hard to believe so much was constructed underground!
Had such a lovely visit. The tour guide was hilarious and obviously had a well rehearsed routine which worked superbly.
There was ample time to buy from the gift shop and the small tours allowed us to few comfortable making our own way back to the tour bus and taking the scenery in.

A fantastic well organised trip. We were picked up promptly in Krakow centre at Straszewskiego 14 at around 8:35 (the exact time we were told we were being picked up). It took around 25 minutes to arrive at the salt mines, where our driver walked us a couple of minute to the entrance. He got the tickets for us and explained where to be at what time. The tour itself was also fantastic! The 400 steps to start weren’t bad at all and the overall walking wasn’t half as bad as I thought it would be! Although it says to wear a jacket when you enter the mines I just had a dress on and the temperature was perfectly fine, not too warm and not too cold. Our tour guide was fantastic and very informative. The tour took a total of 90mins where you then had the choice to do a little museum tour or get the lift to the exit, we got the lift to the exit as we weren’t sure if the bus driver was expecting us back. Overall a fantastic morning and I am so glad we visited 😁

Be prepared for lots of walking which was not a problem we had read the reviews so was well aware. Our guide English speaking was very informative I just found there was only so much salt mines you could see so it did seem to go on forever and you had to be with guide so could not break free early. The reason for three stars is the fact that once exiting you then had to queue to leave which took about twenty minutes and then a good walk to the lift which we did laugh about because I asked the exit guide if they was actually lost and felt I could have walked the stairs up quicker then the walk to the exit. Our children found it very boring so I definitely would not recommend it for fifteen and under and my children love history, but it wasn’t for them.

We were asked to be in place 15 min before departure. Still, when departure time came 2 people were still missing. Instead of leaving, the driver decided to let everyone wait 10 minutes for the late arrivals.
Not fair to let 30 people wait for someone arriving 25 minutes later than requested!

When we arrived at the salt mines we had to wait an additional 30 minutes before we got our guide.

After the tour finished we went back to the bus. And waited…!
Apparently they wanted to include 2 persons from another trip/group.
We waited for 50 minutes!

Absolutely apalling!
Extremely dissatisfied and I would recommend everyone to choose another company.

Asked to meet 15 minutes before start time. Minibus arrived 30 minutes late so standing in cold and rain for 45 minutes
2 more people than seats on minibus so driver had to call a taxi for extra 2
At the end a larger coach but the driver didn’t seem to know how many passengers he had almost left some behind then used his phone whilst driving on a busy rainy motorway
No time at end to look in shop or use toilets
Salt mines great.
Transport dreadful

This is an essential visit if you have 3 days in Krakow. Fascinating and mesmerising. Children would love all the characters depicting working in the mine.
There are lots of steps going down into the mine and I dreaded them...but, being broad, well spaced out and wooden they were so easy to navigate and far from daunting for someone who is a "senior" visitor! We were there early in the morning so apart from a few school parties, it wasn't busy underground.
The guide was good, as was the transport.
And the sun was shining when we came back up to the surface and out into the world!

A brilliant day and very well organised. Unsure of our guide’s name but he is very recognisable with an unusual pony tail haircut - he was amazing! He was so informative, clear and passionate about his job and gave us a fantastic tour around the salt mines. Definitely not for the faint hearted - but well worth it! Comfortable, prompt transport and no issues at all with tickets or queuing.

Good to see but the tour was 3 hours long with a lot of walking. They have ruined the mines natural beauty by adding various shops and cafes inside the mine.

It would have been better if they did different length tours as we found 3 hours was just too long and we got bored.

The guide was a little abrupt at times as she was getting frustrated at the fact she had a spare headset that no one was claiming.

Having said this- the mine is beautiful. It’s not suitable for slow walkers or people that struggle with walking .

Thank your review and comment. I am glad that despite the predicaments concerning the length of the tour, you still were able to enjoy the beauty of the Salt Mines. I will pass your feedback to Salt Mine's office and I agree with your advice mentioning that the tour may be exhausting for people who have mobility issues and it is recommended to come with the mindset that the tour might be physically demanding.

Little disappointed with the support during the visit. Certainly the mines have a degree of fascination but I feel I would have had a better experience if I had visited with the aid of a guide book.
Our guide had good English but the audio equipment worked intermittently and she failed to wait for our group to congregate around her before she was setting off to the next display that meant that those bringing up the rear never actually heard the information.
The whole visit seemed rushed because other groups were setting off at 15 minute intervals.
Despite this there were some positives e.g the church was something to marvel at.
Unfortunately as with most popular tourist attractions the mines have been spoiled by numerous gift shops and a large cafeteria.
Visitors should make their own mind up. I’m glad I made the visit but if you’re mobility is not good then it’s not for you. Lots of walking along the tunnels and of course many steps to get down. The lift to the surface is also very small could cause a problem for those who are a bit claustrophobic and because of its size there is a period of queuing.

Dear Guest, Thank you kindly for providing us with the feedback regarding the tour. We will get in touch with the The Salt Mines museum and pass them your comment concerning the quality of provided tour guide. We hope that even though, you felt rushed and could not hear the tour guide completely, your visit to the venue itself was a possitive and informative experience. Kind regards,
