About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- pelleh1230 contributionsTime well spentOur guide was very skilled and spoke English in a perfect way. She had lots to tell and our group really enjoyed every minute. The bicycling was an easy ride, no climbs and we held a moderate speed throughout the tour. The bikes were in good condition and the weather was absolutely marvelous, clear blue sky and 30°. It is highly recommended for anyone going to Gdansk to take this tour!Written September 12, 2024
- blueberriesandwine0 contributionsGreat Tour...Our guide was Weronika. She was very knowledgeable about the museum and the history of the solidarity movement. She offered lots of information to give us a better understanding of what it must have been like to experience this historical event. She was able to answer pretty much any question we had. The tour does involve a lot of walking but nothing strenuous. She also offered suggestions for other places to visit and restaurants to try. It was a very enjoyable tour. We would highly recommend it.Written August 26, 2024
- WayfaringLibertarian0 contributionsThe BEST way to start my trip to Gdańsk! Thank you, Michael!I booked this trip so it would be the first thing I did when I arrived in Gdańsk. I am so glad that Michael was selected as my guide. I don’t know if it was intentional or just happenstance, but he had a great understanding of many of my research interests — even those related to elsewhere in Europe. Michael was patient with all of my questions as we wandered around the European Solidarity Centre, Sala BHP, and the shipyard area — old and new. After this tour, I felt like I had a great understanding of the old shipyard area and ended up returning to it multiple times over the course of my trip. Don’t misinterpret that as three hours not being enough. But, there are additional things to do near the old shipyard that I would definitely recommend (the sunset cruise and climbing Żuraw 3/the green crane, for example). I’m surprised that this tour isn’t regularly offered in a group format at a less expensive cost. I would love to see that added as an option in the future. But, regardless, I had an absolute blast taking this tour on my own. Thanks again, Michael!Written August 12, 2024
- Corrie26070 contributionsA Must Do to see Gdansk!AMAZING!!! A Must do when in Gdansk! We saw so much in the 3 hours, and with the very knowledgeable guide this was perfect. The cycling was not strenuous at all so perfect for all fitness levels. I honestly could not recommend this tour enough! It was great!Written June 24, 2024
- N648YFjamesm0 contributionsA great way to see and learn GdanskWe've done city bike tours throughout Europe. This tour rates right up there. Our guide Bozena, provided tremendous information about this historical city. The tour took us past the major sites, but also around less traveled places of equal interest. It's a great way to see and build your knowledge about Gdansk. Take this tour!Written June 20, 2024

- Janice J0 contributionsWe really got a grip on Gdansk this way! This was the by far the best bike tour ever for us, with an outstanding guide who promised to show us 1,000 years of history in 3 hours...and she delivered! The bikes were new and easy to learn, the foot and car traffic was totally manageable, and the history we learned along the way came to life a bit as we visited sites where it was made. It was so interesting and enjoyable that we didn't want the trip to end. This is a great way to quickly get your bearings around Gdansk, and decide what sites you'll visit afterwards!Written September 22, 2023

- 268elizabethv0 contributionsBest Bike TourOur guide Bastian showed us some hidden gems we would never have found on our own. We were at our own pace, so much more able to see the sites and learn from a local expert. Cycling is the way to go, much easier than walking for long distances, and lets you really see better than from a car or bus. The bikes are great and so much fun to ride on the great trails and lanes in the tri-city area. Gdansk is the most beautiful and interesting city, and Sopot is an inviting resort, so the bike tour and information from Bastian makes me want to return again for an even longer stay.Written August 6, 2023
- V1975RIlucyh0 contributionsSuperbFun, interesting and efficient. If you’ve only got a short time in Gdańsk, like riding a bike (it’s quite leisurely), and want to know the outline history of the city, this is the trip for you. It’s great to be guided on a bike route and to hear all the stories from an expert. Sebastian, our guide, was laid back and very informative.Written July 28, 2023

This tour lived up to and then surpassed our expectations. The castle is amazing, lunch was delicious and Westerplatte was sobering, but all of these experiences were improved by Sebastian’s knowledge and experience. I’m so glad we decided to book this tour.

Very well thought out, hassle-free, informative, and excellent value tour with interesting and enjoyable descriptions (in English) at every stage of the tour. We received an email prior to the trip with our guide’s contact number and confirmation of pick-up time. Our trip started with a prompt pick up at the lobby of our hotel in Gdansk by our guide Sebastian. Sebastian gave us a brief overview of the day and inquired about our needs. We had no special requests other than we wanted to help him take a few pictures for us from the trip; were happy to take the tour as advertised. We got into a comfortable and air-conditioned small van (we were the only passengers) where Sebastian offered us bottled water. First, we first visited the historic site of Westerplatte. On a way there, Sebastian told us about the history of Gdansk and Westerplatte. Here on September 1, 1939 the WWII started. The remains of the structure were very powerful description of what happened and of bravery and heroism of the Polish people. Sebastian also showed us a monument dedicated to the site with an excellent commentary highlighting soviet influences on that region after the WWII. Sebastian invited questions and comments, and when asked, he was happy to take several pictures for us. Next, we drove to Malbork castle. Again, Sebastian gave us an overview of pertinent history and invited questions on a way to the site. The castle was built by Teutonic Knights and is considered to be the largest castle in the world (area wise). When we arrived, there were lots of people there in lines. We were so happy we did not have to figure out transport or stand in lines. Sebastian gave us the tickets, gave us more specific details about the castle pointing to specific areas on the outside, and walked us to the gate where he would pick us up later, after our tour. We walked to the entrance to the castle, and took an excellent self-guided tour through the castle (the self-guided tour uses both, a gps system and pictures so it is very easy to navigate various spaces around the huge castle). We took about 3 hours inside, but could easily spend more time there. Sebastian was waiting outside for us. Immediately after, he walked us to the most beautiful and picturesque view point, where he took several pictures for us with the castle in the background (using our camera). He really knew where to take a picture; our friends commented that we should frame one of the pictures (it is so beautiful). Finally, we drove through an area where we learned about Mennonite paths which concluded with a simple lunch with locally brewed beer in a Mennonite-type house restaurant. Finally, Sebastian drove us back to our hotel and we chatted along the way asking him a multitude of questions. Everything was extremely well organized from beginning to the end, and we have many pictures to remember the day. We got a lot from the trip. It was a fantastic day!
Please note, if you have a physical handicap, the trip may be very difficult. In any case, be prepared for lots of walking and make sure you have good walking shoes.
We very highly recommend this tour.

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Gdansk. The tour of Malbork Castle, lunch and the visit to Westerplatte were excellent. But, the attention to Mennonite history was really exceptional. My father's side of the family is from this area so it was very meaningful to me that Sebastian focused on Mennonite history as well. He picked us up on time in a nice vehicle and we found him to be an engaging guide. Truly one of the best we have ever had! I highly recommend this tour.

We were picked up at our hotel on time and Sebastian went over and above what had been advertised for the tour. Not only did we go to Malbork Castle but we visited an old Mennonite cemetery, and Westerplatte as well as other quiet spots along the way. He spent more time with us than was advertised and we really enjoyed our day.

Interesting! We received individual audio guides which gave us info and history about the area we were in. This allowed us to go at our own pace. Definite must see!

Historically informative. After a nice tour, enjoy a delicious meal at the castle and shop at the market. You can also browse the small shops.

Are there hotel accommodations in the castle?
Written November 10, 2018
There certainly aren’t any in the Castle, but I assume there are some in Malbork. We stayed in Gdansk. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

We would like to plan our visit September 18th - is the Castle open on that day (last day was August 31st when I checked the online info). Also we would be arriving on the Eurail - can we get picked up and dropped off a the Eurail station?

How long does this tour last? We are arriving by cruise ship. Where would pick up be?
Written April 25, 2018
Ours was an all day tour. The castle tour is three hours alone and it’s not in Gdańsk. Get in touch with Poland by Locals. They may have other suggestions since there are other attractions closer. We had a driver and his car so he could pick you up anywhere I imagine. We really enjoyed the area.
