About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- markhH7386MU0 contributionsMalbourk Castle and Westerplatte tourRozena is the best tour guide. She is timely, friendly and very well educated. Her knowledge of Poland is second to none. She took us to a family owned restaurant that had excellent dumplings (pierogi). We would never have found this gem on our own. I would highly recommend her.Written September 11, 2024
- blueberriesandwine0 contributionsGreat Tour...Our guide was Weronika. She was very knowledgeable about the museum and the history of the solidarity movement. She offered lots of information to give us a better understanding of what it must have been like to experience this historical event. She was able to answer pretty much any question we had. The tour does involve a lot of walking but nothing strenuous. She also offered suggestions for other places to visit and restaurants to try. It was a very enjoyable tour. We would highly recommend it.Written August 26, 2024
- WayfaringLibertarian0 contributionsThe BEST way to start my trip to Gdańsk! Thank you, Michael!I booked this trip so it would be the first thing I did when I arrived in Gdańsk. I am so glad that Michael was selected as my guide. I don’t know if it was intentional or just happenstance, but he had a great understanding of many of my research interests — even those related to elsewhere in Europe. Michael was patient with all of my questions as we wandered around the European Solidarity Centre, Sala BHP, and the shipyard area — old and new. After this tour, I felt like I had a great understanding of the old shipyard area and ended up returning to it multiple times over the course of my trip. Don’t misinterpret that as three hours not being enough. But, there are additional things to do near the old shipyard that I would definitely recommend (the sunset cruise and climbing Żuraw 3/the green crane, for example). I’m surprised that this tour isn’t regularly offered in a group format at a less expensive cost. I would love to see that added as an option in the future. But, regardless, I had an absolute blast taking this tour on my own. Thanks again, Michael!Written August 12, 2024

- allegrande0 contributionsWiki Tour-de-GdanskOur day began with a little bit of stress because the tour operator was ~15 minutes late due to traffic (she tried texting me, but I have no int’l data). If this happens to you… Have faith — they are coming. The tour guide, Bozena, quickly recovered. She picked us up in her 8-person VW van, and took us on a lovely Baltic tour. I ask hard questions — obscure factoids on all sorts of things — Bozena had answers. True to its name, this was a tour of ‘Poland by Locals’. Does Gdansk have a native beer? Why yes, Jopenbier, which botanical archaeologists reconstructed recipes from a hidden stash of forgotten 15th century bottles. Why don’t I see more oak trees? I only see Linden and Locusts… she knew the history of trade deals that describe the Polish lumber market. Why was Westerplatte the opening salvo for WW2? Why Gdansk and not Danzig? … She knew. AND — she was kind and tolerant of the two-tweens with us. Also — the ‘lunch’ mentioned here is a pretty bland advertisement for the really neat, local spot they take you. I had no ideas that they had a Mennonite Enclave that has excellent pierogi as well as… Crawdads like the Mississippi Delta (!!) because, Gdansk (whose name is derived from lower wetlands!), is that kind of place, too. 100% Recommend.Written August 17, 2023

- 268elizabethv0 contributionsBest Bike TourOur guide Bastian showed us some hidden gems we would never have found on our own. We were at our own pace, so much more able to see the sites and learn from a local expert. Cycling is the way to go, much easier than walking for long distances, and lets you really see better than from a car or bus. The bikes are great and so much fun to ride on the great trails and lanes in the tri-city area. Gdansk is the most beautiful and interesting city, and Sopot is an inviting resort, so the bike tour and information from Bastian makes me want to return again for an even longer stay.Written August 6, 2023
- RedsFanSC0 contributionsBeyond Exceptional TourA friend and I contacted Poland by Locals through their website and arranged two tours. One day was spent on military and non-military highlights of Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot. We visited an amber artisan's workshop, two hills around Gdansk, the Shipyard for street food, a forest in Gdynia with old bunkers & an old artillery battery, a WWII destroyer (military ship), a microbrewery in Sopot, and the pier at Sopot. It was an awesome day. The second tour was even better. We visited the Museum of Military Technology Gryf and Hel Peninsula. At the museum, located on a former military base, we saw/touched much military equipment, rode in a military vehicle on an obstacle course, shot guns, and rode in an old Soviet-made tank! Super cool! Then we went to Hel where we saw its coastal defense system from WWII. An awesome, awesome day. Our guide was the very gifted Sebastian, who was friendly and knowledgable. I can't say enough good things about our Poland by Locals Experience.Written July 12, 2023
- wanderer_scotland0 contributionsFantastic tour with Bozena.I have always had a interest in Eastern European history from post war right through to the present day, and on a recent visit to Gdansk, I could not pass by the chance to visit the birth place of the Solidarity movement. I only knew the basics of the events that took place in the ship yards, and probably less on Lech Walesa (while I was doing my trip solo, my Ukrainian wife knew all about him and told me that I would love this tour as it will be right up my street) and had no issue booking it. I met my guide Bozena at the entrance to the European Solidarity Centre, and for the first hour we went around the museum getting a real in depth account of the events on 1980, and what had been leading up to it, with discussions on the 1970's strikes, what caused the 1980 strikes and the straw that broke the camels back, with the rise of Lech Walsea, the birth of the Solidarity movement, the knock on effects from that, not only in Poland (starting with Martial Law), but with the first free elections that followed and the domino effect it had across Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, with its effects still having ripples to this day. After this we went out in to the actual ship yards themselves, which as someone from a construction and metal work background, was something that really appealed to me. Tour ended at one of the converted warehouses in the shipyard which is now a Hipster Hangout with street food, coffee and craft beer (my type of place!!!!). All in all Bozena was a fantastic guide, and I got out of this tour exactly what I was looking for, and that was the whole in's and out's of the history of the events in Gdanks 40 years ago. Can fully recommend this tour for anyone.Written June 23, 2023
- S603SGangelag0 contributionsSuperb cycle tour!Superb start to our holiday! Casper, our tour guide, had exceptional historical knowledge of the city and we appreciated his personable character. What a perfect way to see the city. We hired bikes the next day and cycled to Sopot which we loved. Thanks again to Casper and Sebastian xWritten June 18, 2023

This was the by far the best bike tour ever for us, with an outstanding guide who promised to show us 1,000 years of history in 3 hours...and she delivered! The bikes were new and easy to learn, the foot and car traffic was totally manageable, and the history we learned along the way came to life a bit as we visited sites where it was made. It was so interesting and enjoyable that we didn't want the trip to end. This is a great way to quickly get your bearings around Gdansk, and decide what sites you'll visit afterwards!

The shop was very conveniently located in the old town and the bikes were new comfortable to ride, even for a novice cyclist. The tour included some great sights and we covered a lot of ground with Bożena who was knowledgeable, friendly and helpfully pointed out that we should visit Sopot too. There were plenty of rest breaks and Gdansk is flat so this tour is suitable for everyone, especially if one is short on time. Highly recommended!

We've done city bike tours throughout Europe. This tour rates right up there. Our guide Bozena, provided tremendous information about this historical city. The tour took us past the major sites, but also around less traveled places of equal interest. It's a great way to see and build your knowledge about Gdansk. Take this tour!

I was on a bike tour led by Bojanna (sorry if spelling incorrect). There were only 3 of us plus the guide. The chap at the bike shop helped set us on the bikes. The tour started around the old town then into the ship yards and back the new marina. We saw sights and our guide told us stories I not seen on the walking tours. Pace was easy to follow. I would be interested if they offer any other tours further say to Westerplatte or other areas.

Our guide was very skilled and spoke English in a perfect way. She had lots to tell and our group really enjoyed every minute. The bicycling was an easy ride, no climbs and we held a moderate speed throughout the tour. The bikes were in good condition and the weather was absolutely marvelous, clear blue sky and 30°. It is highly recommended for anyone going to Gdansk to take this tour!

Gdańsk is a port city with a long history. This tour is a great way to see the best sights rather quickly while learning a great deal along the way. Sebastian helped to make it a fun experience as well.

We did the 3 hour bike tour of Gdańsk. It was such an enjoyable experience. Luckily for us we were the only two booked on the tour so it was like our own private tour. Our guide was Bozena, she was lovely , spoke perfect English and had great knowledge of Gdańsk and Poland. She gave us a great overview of Gdańsk past, present and future. It is well worth doing in the first few days of your holiday so you can go back and visit the sites you liked. Thanks Bozena. Paul.

Lots of fun and very informative. The tour was at an easy pace. Without spoiling it you will be taken to some very historic places associated with Gdańsk. It’s not a boring history lesson though - the guide makes it fun and interesting. Water was provided and a toilet break. Highly recommend!

I did the 3 hour bike tour of Gdansk departing 10am. My guide Olga was really lovely & spoke perfect English & answered all of my questions about Gdansk. The bike tour is not only of the old town, but takes you out to the harbour/docks & gives a comprehensive & informative history of Gdansk. The cycling is easy with lots of stops & even a bottle of water is provided. I have done a few European cities by guided bike tours as I always find them a great way to discover a new city. I thoroughly recommend this tour.
