Austerlitz has been on my wish list for many years so I was delighted to be able to visit this year. My friend and I are both retired army generals with a deep interest in military history. First thing is that Brno is a great location to stay in with its stunning old town and proximity to the battlefield. Plenty of interest for our wives whilst I was studying. However nothing would have been possible without the simply wonderful Helena. She collected us early morning from our accommodation and dropped us back at the end of a very full day. I had purposefully requested a bespoke visit which maximised time on the ground and minimised tourist attractions like museums. I also wanted to move from the French R flank to the L. Helena was able to meet every request with a smile. Incidentally the ground is simply superb and the key features are unchanged since 1805. If you are going to maximise your visit, a local guide is essential but nobody else except Helena was able to match our requirements. She is a walking encyclopaedia of local knowledge not to mention the small country roads. She has made an ardent study of the 1805 campaign and has many helpful pieces of literature and maps in a large folder. If this all sounds dreadfully serious, Helena ensured that we had sufficient samples of local beer and excellent food to lighten key moments. We were also fortunate to have the additional company of her charming dog Marko. In summary this was quite a brilliant day with a tour guide who is simply the best. Thank you Helena from John and myself.

Helen was an excellent host and provided us with amazing day. She knew a lot about the local history and introduced us to the regional wine culture and producers. Her tour allowed us to view things that we normally would not have seen. She was very flexible in providing for our needs and we would highly recommend taking one of her tours.

Helena was a very responsive correspondent in the weeks leading up to my visit. We spent a full day (eleven hours) traveling from Brno to villages in the Trebic area where my ancestors once lived. I knew of two houses in one village where my family members had been born and raised, and Helena contacted the current owners ahead of time. One of them made a feast to welcome us for lunch, and her brother helped us contact the owner of the other house, who was similarly generous. We struck out on finding family in cemeteries (this is more complicated than either of us realized, I think), but it was an unforgettable day that answered many of my questions about family origins and gave me forever memories.

Helen was a fantastic source of knowledge for our day in the Moravian wine country. From the moment she picked us up to the end of our day, she provided history, context, and anecdotes about the area and the wines. This was a private tour for me and my husband and she handled all of the logistics - picked us up and dropped us off at our Airbnb in Brno and modified the activities to match our interests as we asked. There was also a nice balance between touring, driving, and tasting. Dress comfortably for walking through the parks and grounds. In addition to all the planned activities, we got an extra bonus stop in Vrbice. She knew a winemaker there and thought it would make a nice visit. We arrived a little early but she struck up a conversation with a local who generously agreed to show up his private cave. (The wine caves are all hand-dug out of sandstone and are passed down through family.) He has a day job and makes wines as a hobby. He shared how some folks don't know what to do after work but he always knows where he is going. He doesn't seel any wine to the public - just makes it for family & friends. Given the quantity in his cellar, they must drink a lot. :-) He let us try his burcak (young, first crush wine) which he pulled out with his wine thief. Then, he opened a bottle of his private wine to share with us. We also got to sample grapes direct from the vines. We also visited the small Brcko cellar. We liked the Portugal wine but loved the Frankova - new varietal for us. Moldy ceilings, old wooden barrels and coins stuck into the stone ceilings for good luck all add to the charm of these caves. We visited Lednice, Valtice, and Mikulov over the course of the day. Lednice has a beautiful castle, garden and grounds and includes fake ruins and a minaret for good measure. Valtice was home to the wine salon - one of the coolest experiences in wine tasting. For a flat (inexpensive) fee, you can taste as many or as much as you want of the top 100 vetted wines in the region. Pace yourself! Helen gave us great tips on how best to maximize our time and wine-tasting abilities here. We ended the day in the castle and old town of Mikulov relaxing over hot tea and coffee before the drive home. Overall, a wonderful (& educational) day. Not to be missed!

We had a wonderful visit to Austerlitz. Helena was a fantastic guide, offering my husband (already very knowledgable of the battle) new and interesting insights, while giving me (a novice) a thorough description. In addition to the battlefield itself, she provided rich and wonderful details of the region around Brno. Thank you, Helena, for an outstanding visit!

It does not matter if you are the world's expert on Austerlitz or just a curious tourist, Helena will make your day on the battlefield interesting and a fun experience. In a very skilful way she adapts the tour to suit your requirements. Helena picked me up from my Hotel in Slavkov at 8.00am and then showed me around the battlefield in such detail. We went to places that l would never have found if l had tried to do this on my own. The conversation between us never stopped and we also discussed English and Czech issues and culture

At 7 am Helena picked us up in Brno for an excursion thruogh South-Maravia. She showed us no less than four local highlights (church, caves, convent, castle), but also took us to two windmills (because we told her we had a special interest in those) and managed to visit two private owned houses with us and an ancient wooden bridge as well (also because our special interest). Just before 7 PM she dropped us off in Brno again. WOW, what a day - it was a bit much to take in! We hightly recommend a day with Helena. She is fluent in English, knows her way around in her beloved country and gets things done of the beaten track - especially for you!

We where a group of 7 who wanted to go see where our grandmother immigrated from. We contacted Helena based on other reviews. Helena did a fantastic job locating relatives, arranging a visit to the relatives, translating for us and showing us around the area. She even arranged for the small town to open their community museum, and a visit to the local church with the local priest. She did a fabulous job and our family is very grateful to have had her with us. Highly, highly recommend her.

Brilliant day trip to Moravian Karst. Visted three caves each unique. Side trips to places not visited by tourists. Knowledgeable insight into the region provided by our guide. Helena is informative, friendly and humorous.

I travelled back to Brno and again went on tour with Helena, this time to the Unesco towns of Trebic and Telc as well as Czech & Moravian castles & chateaux. They were two huge days with so much to see and learn about. It was spring time when I visited and the flowers were coming out and the wildlife. This is definitely the best way to see more of the countryside and learn about Czech history. Have lovely meals in local eatery and got to see things that would of been hard to get to via public transport or required a group. Both days were so much fun and I have so many amazing photos to remember them. Helena is accommodating, full of knowledge and lots of fun. She even brought a jacket for me as the weather turned cold. Not use to 8 degree weather where I live. Absolutely the best way to experience Czech Republic

Hired Helena as a tour guide for the battlefield of Austerlitz. She proved an accommodating guide - meeting me promptly at the Brno train station. From there in her personal automobile we drove to every noteworthy location on the battlefield. She spoke in excellent English both about the battle itself as well as its contemporary commemoration. She was more than happy to make additional unplanned stops as historical curiosity dictated. I highly recommend her. If you have a particular spot of interest to you, do her the courtesy of letting her know ahead of time and she will build out the stop on the tour in as informed and thoughtful a way as possible.

For my son's high school graduation he wanted to go to the Austerlitz battlefield as he is very interested in history and especially Napoleon. Helena met us at the train station and we spent all day with her. Her knowledge of the battlefield and the surrounding area was amazing. My son said it was the highlight of our travels through Europe/

We had a wonderful 3 days with Helena showing us the sites of Brno, the Karst/cave area and sites along the way, and the wine country. Helena was an excellent guide: pleasant, fun to be around, knowledgeable, thoughtful about the things we wanted to see. She gave us great tips about what would be of interest to us, added a couple of viewpoints of sites that she knew through her experiences that we would never have been able to learn about on our own or through a guidebook. I highly recommend Helena if you want a personal in-depth experience of Brno and the surrounding area.

Helena was a brilliant guide, happy to answer any questions. The tour was relaxing and amazing. I went to the Punkva Caves and Pernstejn castle. Having a guide drive you directly to the sites and knowing what to see was great. I would highly recommend her to solo or small group.

Helena is a fantastic guide and I can not recommend her enough. Me and my father had an amazing day. We had personalised tour as we had a few places we wanted to specifically see (we have some Moravian heritage). Planning with Helena was very easy - I told her a few things I thought I wanted to do and she came up with an excellent itinerary tailored to what we wanted. Right from the start Helena was very dedicated to making sure we had a great time. We went to the home town of my great great great grandfather and thanks to her hard work was able to see his place of birth! We were also able to liaise with the local priest who was able to show us some other records from that era related to my family. He was also kind of enough to give us some bottles of wine. Soon after - we went to the nearby wine cellars. Sadly however, because it was in the morning none were open. There were a few locals around and Helena struck up a conversation and asked if two Australians would be able to see what one was like. Well Helena's charm really comes through here because we had a guy invite us into his wine cellar, and then let us sample his wines for free. And we had a lot of wine. His generosity was outstanding and this experience wouldn't have happened without Helena! We spent the rest of the day seeing sites and throughout Helena was very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. She really went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. I cannot recommend Helena enough - I had such a fantastic and unique time.
