If you’re traveling to Prague, I highly recommend a food tour with Taste of Prague.
We had the best time with Markéta, who led us around the city, introduced us to traditional and modern Czech food & drink, and to places we wouldn’t have found on our own. What an incredible experience!

The tour guide I had was amazing. She was fun and engaging and had a wonderful derful personality. I called her Peggy the whole tour because she gave us a few names we could use for her and Peggy stuck. She is one of the best guides I've had in a long time.
She clearly knew the restaurants in the area and talked passionately about her county's dishes both during communism and how it has evolved to today's.
Well worth the money and I highly recommend it

Food tour of all food tours. My wife and I visited Prague and like we do in all cities we visit we booked a food tour. This was the best food tour we have ever done. Jan took us to four completely different places where he showcased different aspects of Prague cuisine and Prague culture. More than just the food, Jan was truly a pleasure to spend time with. He not only answered all of our questions (there were a lot), but he also asked questions about us and engaged with us in all sorts of questions. If you like food, this is the best way to get you out of the touristy spots and go see some of the best food Prague has to offer.

I had to cancel my trip due to widespread closures in my destination.

I was initially unhappy about my deposit experience and Jan emailed me to explain what had happened. I was fine with that answer and revised my review to 4 stars. I tried to stay away from anything that “blamed” them in my review (see below). However, Jan continued to email me to try to make a point. At this stage, I am wondering how many other reviewers were influenced by him after leaving a bad review. PLEASE leave me alone. I am already devastated that I had to cancel my vacation. I do not want to be dealing with emails about this anymore when it does not change the outcome.

My original revised review is below:

I had concerns about traveling during the pandemic, but my husband wanted to go. We put off booking this tour until we were literally at the airport, but within an hour of booking, we found out that our destination was shut down. We immediately started canceling what we could while at the airport.

If you end up needing to do a refund, there are bank fees totaling around $16 USD. Those are non-refundable.

Since the pandemic is ongoing and unpredictable, for events that require a deposit, I recommend only booking once you are in the city and 100% sure you’ll attend. If you want to avoid losing out on your deposit once you’ve already booked, I recommend asking if you can move this deposit to a future date instead.

This is Jan mentioned in the review. First of all, I am really sad that Jaq had to cancel her trip and that we got entangled in that frustration. We love to travel ourselves and we are also sad to see the carelessness and ease of international travel go as a result of the pandemic. However, I must also admit I am personally offended and a bit hurt by this review, which portrays me as a borderline stalker forcing people to change their reviews. I am not a stalker, and I have never forced or influenced anyone, including Jaq, to change their reviews. This allegation is false and stains the reputation I have been working hard to build in the past 10 years of Taste of Prague. This is my side of the story, for anyone who cares to read it: Jaq cancelled her tour just three days before its scheduled date due to a lockdown in Denmark where she was supposed to land, and asked for a refund. We gave it to her out of sympathy - she was not entitled to a full refund under our cancellation policy given how late the cancellation was. We advised her that the amount she’d receive might be slightly smaller than the deposit paid due to banking fees and conversion rates applied by banks in the process. Two days later, we receive a 1-star review (our very first in ten years) and we get blamed for the banking fees. We are painted as people who take advantage of travellers in a global pandemic. I decided to write an email to Jaq, explaining we have not gained anything from the transaction. She wrote me back and accepted my explanation, changing the review to a 4-star review, writing (as you can see above) that travellers should check whether they could apply the deposit for a later tour. Having read her email and the changed review, I just responded to Jaq, thanking her for accepting the explanation, and adding that we did offer her a „store credit“ in our email communication but she chose the deposit instead. Neither of the two emails I sent to Jaq asked her to change or remove her review. And now we’ve received an updated review, with some serious allegations of conduct that can be actually deemed illegal under EU law. To summarise my story: we receive a late cancellation with a demand for a refund that we are not obliged to give, give it anyway, the customer loses some money in banking fees, we get blamed for banking fees and then of stalking her and influencing reviews on TripAdvisor, just because we wanted to explain ourselves in two emails. As I wrote above, I am really sad things didn’t work out with Jaq. But I needed to make the record clear here and make my story heard, too. Thank you for reading it thus far. Jan

My wife and I visited Prague 10th of Aug till 15th and had booked the Prague foodie for Wednesday 12th with Karolina. We normally book a food tour at every city break we go on and this was by far the best. I think normally these tours have 6-10 people on them but due to current circumstances and Prague being quieter it was only the two of us with Karolina. She immediately made us feel at easy and for the four hours we spent with her it felt more like we were visiting a friend we hadn’t seen in ages. The first place we visited was lokal and tried out some local Czech pub food and beers. Everything we had very tasty and went great with our beers. While we ate Karolina talked us through the beer process and the changes in Czech cuisine over the decades. After this we moved to kantyna for some amazing meat dishes in a very chilled place. Kantyna is definitely somewhere I would visit a lot if I lived in Prague . The impressive butcher room is worth seeing alone. We then headed to karlin district for some fine dining veg dishes in eska with some G&T before finishing off in a bistro for some traditional deserts. The 4 hours flew in and everything we tried was delicious. My only regret is we didn’t do this on our first day because We learned so much about Prague, Czech people and tradition from Karolina. The booklet you get at the end has some brilliant tips for eating and sightseeing around Prague. I would 100% recommend this tour to everyone visiting Prague four hours of having a laugh and trying great food . Karolina couldn’t be any better of a host, definitely worth every penny the tour cost.

Doing a food tour with Martin our first night in Prague was the perfect option. It kept us from having to make dinner choices after a long travel day and it kept us busy and showed us around the city, including the Karlin district which you might not venture to on your own as a tourist. We visited several great spots which Martin aid he changes up on different tours for different days. Ours included Base Meso butcher shop where he also works and where we sampled the house meatloaf and tartare. We also visited Eska which was a highlight of the tour. We left stuffed and well educated! As a cook/restaurant person and foodie this was great value for the money and one of the best food tours I have taken while traveling.

This Foodie Tour will not leave you hungry! Our guide for the tour was Martin. Martin was a great guide and very passionate about food and Prague! We visited Lokal Diouha for smoked sausages, Prague ham, fried cheese, marinated cheese and marinated fish. We then walked to Kantyna restaurant where we tasted beef tartare, pulled pork and pork schnitzel. We traveled to our next stop via tram. At the Kro Ktchen we had the grilled chicken with butter-soy sauce. This was a favorite! Our last stop was at Eska for potato in ash with smoked carp and dessert which consisted of Czech cream puff "vetrnik" with sourdough caramel and vanilla and the chocolate cake with rum! This was absolutely delicious! Along the way we, also enjoyed beer, wine and even a gin and tonic! Martin also guided us back to the door of our hotel, which was very much appreciated! Thanks, Martin, for a great tour!

Let me start by saying the quality of this tour is amazing. We visited many local places that were of superior quality. Our guide Martin was fabulous- very knowledgeable and professional and helpful. We loved it. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was the cost. I feel it was a little over priced. We always do a quality tour when we visit cities and usually pay around £80pp. This one is considerably more.

We had 8 in our group with our guide Martin. He did a great job introducing the tour with an overview of Czech culinary history. We started at Lokal with some great lager and traditional snacks. Martin kept up a nice banter and made sure we are well informed as well as well fed. Our next stop was a Butcher Shop Nase Maso for a meatloaf sandwich that we ate at a nearby wine bar. The sandwich was very tasty and we sampled Moravian wine. Next was a trip to CSTR a steakhouse featuring locally raised organic beef. I found the beef neck with sauce to be my favorite dish of the night. We finished the night at Eska in Karlin. There we had a nice cocktail and desserts.
All in all a great experience and a great way to start a visit to Prague. Martin is the best!

Our guide, Karolina, and the tour were both wonderful. We’ve done a lot of food tours over the years and this one was one of the best. The food, beer, wine and cocktails were delicious and ample Karolina is interesting, likable and attentive. We walked to most of the restaurants but also hopped the trolley when the distance was too long. The tour was four hours long and we enjoyed every bit of it.
