    Eye opening and fun
We had loads of fun here. It was very interesting and interactive. Especially making our own stop motion videos and sounds. Also for the little extra it is worth doing the Darkening VR experience

    Interactive play and fun
Surprisingly interesting and educational. Every room was interesting, VR movie was liked a lot by the younger visitors, in the end you can make your own animation (they send it via email). Adding audio effects to a short movie was also great fun. I wonder how we haven’t been there before!

    JUST WOW🫶🏻
Skvelý zážitok! Múzeum ponúka fascinujúci pohľad do sveta filmu, s množstvom interaktívnych exponátov. Obzvlášť nás zaujali filmy prezentované prostredníctvom alternatívneho/ virtuálneho sveta – bolo to naozaj pôsobivé a ponúklo to unikátny zážitok. Ďakujeme! 🫶🏻 Great experience! The museum offers a fascinating insight into the world of film, with many interactive exhibits. We were particularly impressed by the films presented through the virtual reality - it was really impressive and offered a unique experience. Thank you! 🫶🏻

    Execellent
This museum is very special. Perfect if you love the history of cinema and specifically the history of Czech animation including Soviet ones. It is in interactive and offers a really great journey to its visitors. I took my son with who was very happy doing live sound design and animation. We also watch our first Virtual Reality movie (ask for it 50 Krones extra) really excellent movie about mental health. This museum is now very dear to me. Have fun!

    A truly interactive museum
A really fun and interactive little museum. I went with 2 boys (9 and 11 years) and we all had fun dubbing movies, using the movie projector, experiencing a little VR experience, animating a short film, and everything in between. (Except for the movie screenings, which looked fun but for which we didn't have the patience as this wasn't our only stop that day.) The staff was friendly and it felt like they actually care about movies and the tech behind them. Also, the stop-motion animations that you get to make in the museum, you later get via email.

Brilliant museum, do not miss this.
Exceptional museum: a perfect balance of education, wonder, and fun. Highly interactive, very unhurried. The staff were absolutely brilliant: engaged, and engaging, and had great English. They really make this museum what it is. We saw the optional extra VR film Darkening, which was like nothing I'd ever experienced. Beautiful and moving. Wonderful.

A great experience for film lovers
A fantastic museum in which to spend an hour or two while you're in Prague. I hold a PhD in film and found plenty to enjoy and lots I didn't know! The top floor is dedicated to the early history and technology of cinema (magic lanterns, phantasmagoria, projectors, foley, etc.) while the lower floor is dedicated to more culturally specific subjects – at the time of our visit, there were exhibits on Czech avantgarde and animation. A highlight of my trip was watching a selection of Czech animated shorts in one of the screening rooms (none of which I had seen before). A trip here pairs really well with a visit to the Karel Zeman Museum, which isn't too far away – very easy to do both in a day. There is also an extra VR experience that we didn't pay extra for, not because we weren't interested but because both my partner and myself are horrendously short sighted and VR tends not to work very well! Highly recommended.

    Would recommend
It was great fun, plenty of interactive experiments and demonstrations on the early days of film. Price is low with around 9€ per ticket and you can spend 1 to 2 hours here.

Don’t miss this museum if you’re in Prague. Hands down it was one of the best museums I have ever been to! As a movie lover, I enjoyed every moment I was in there! The staff was really friendly and explained us everything really nicely plus don’t miss the VR experience please.

Go and play with your friends
A fun educational visit that won't feel like being education at all. The place is full of games and interactive stops where you can try to create something yourself to see how the things in film industry actually work. I recommend to go to the place with a friend or few, as it's much more fun, e.g. when you create together your own audio for the played movies. The staff working at the place is super nice, spoke great English and also offered to me and my friends that we can leave our backpacks at the cash desk, so we don't need to think about them on the tour at the museum. If you need internet, e.g. to check your parking ticket, as I needed to, there is a WiFi at the place. I recommend to get the password at the beginning of the tour, as the lower floor is in the cellar without mobile phone signal.

The museum itself was really cool with many interesting sections and a lot of interactive stuff - great for kids and adults. The founders were all there when we visited and they were really helpful, joining us for parts of the exhibition to guide us through everything and discuss film with us. I highly, highly recommend it.

Thanks a lot for your truly nice recommendation, we're really glad you enjoyed it - as well as we had a chance to meet you personally! There is almost every day one of us, as founders, present - but when you get lucky you can definitely encounter all of us .))

We highly recommend this fantastic little museum and the hands-on experiences about the history of film. The staff was so welcoming/friendly. They guided us through the exhibits - as though we had a personal guided tour. I have never seen my teen so engaged in a museum (and she loves most museums), but the interactive exhibits drew her in.

This film museum is a well-curated little spot with a not only highly knowledgeable staff, but it is very obvious they all care about film deeply.

As a former film student (a fact I love to throw around and then feel bad about it, but I think the staff is far too kind to take offense to slightly douchy behaviour), I have seen a couple of film museums – I think this one might be the most interactive one.

I visited alone and could have easily spent more time than the one to two hours I was there, had I taken the time to animate my own movie or record my own track for dubbing. It was very obvious that the numerous families with kids and teenagers visiting were having a good time as well, as the museum focuses on the technical side of visuals, sound, animation as well as the history of early film, which allows for many stations of interactive fun.

Also quite adorable is the tiny selection of – as I imagine – carefully selected items in the gift shop. I opted for very stylish tote bags that were illustrated with references to Czech films. As I then learned the staff picks these movies from their personal favourites and has (designer) friends create the illustrations. Not only did the very friendly woman (I forgot to ask her name!) at the reception write down the names of the films for me, she also offered to mail me more info, shouldn't Google do the job.

I think the museum might be a spot similar to the record store in High Fidelity without the pretentious snobbery, just with the same amount of love for something the staff really cares about.

Oh, and every exhibit comes with an English explanation and everyone speaks perfect English. Don't worry if you can only say hello in Czech (like me).

What a wonderful comment - we really really appreciate it! To hear such words especially from someone like yourself with such experience with film history and film museums really means a lot to us, and completely makes the many days, months and years we spent working on every detail of the exhibitions (and sleepless nights choosing every single item for the gift shop) well worth it! <3

This was one of my best experiences in Prague!
The staff was always very friendly, willing to answer any questions and help you get your bearings even outside the museum.

I had the honor of being guided by one of the co-founders. His explanations were short, clear and very interesting. Even though he might have told the same things hundreds of times, you could see his interest in his eyes and hear it in his voice.

The museum is very dynamic, there are stations to see, others to hear and there are several stations where you can try things out. At the end you can create your own animation and they send it to you at no additional cost to your email in just a few hours (I received mine just 20 minutes later.)

I would have loved to stay longer and have a matcha latte with cake at the coffee but the museum was so interesting that I left at closing time.

A highly recommended place for adults and children. If I go back to Prague I will definitely come back. Thanks for the nice experience!

We came as a rather large group to the museum as part of a work trip and was able to coordinate with the team in advance to do a guided tour. It was such a fascinating look into the history of filmmaking and animation as well as Czech cinema! In total we spent about 2 hours there and honestly (if we didn't have such a tight schedule), we could have spent even at least another hour diving into the exhibits or fine-tuning our animation and film dubbing experiments. Many thanks to the NaFilM team for helping us create an unforgettable experience. And on a special note: the coffee at their lobby café is exceptionally good (as others have mentioned, don't forget to bring some cash for a refreshment).

The museum reveals a straightforward, fun approach to how cinema came about. This is a hands on museum that allows the guest to interact with the basic principles of film making. Perhaps most importantly it is curated by students, and their love and joy of film shines through the experience. You can’t help but leave happy after experiencing this nonconventional museum!

The museum has loads of great equipment and history about film. It was a great interactive experience, very informative but in a fun and engaging way. The kinomatograph and the animation table being the highlight, they were great fun to play around with. The staff were very freindly and passionate about the subject, which made it a great time. Would recommend this to anyone, even if you're not a big film enjoyer. Great for kids and adults alike.

This was an outstanding afternoon for the whole family. The staff are friendly and helpful. You learn everything about the history of film and technology behind it. As a bonus, you can create your own short animation that can be sent to your email.
If I had to criticize anything, it is the fact that you have to pay cash. Prepare the real money to get the tickets, gifts or coffees in the little cafe at the entrance.
