About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kpeveto0 contributionsOutstanding! Our group of two couples took a private tour with Jana. It was outstanding and the highlight of our three-day visit to Prague. Jana is very knowledgeable and passionate about her country. We leaned so much about the history of Prague over the centuries, not just WWII. We passed many of the top “Must see” spots in the city. A 5 Star experience, and we highly recommend.Written August 13, 2024

- MargD0 contributionsIncredible World War II and Communism TourPrivate World War II and Communism Tour We had contacted Jana, from Prague Journeys, to organise a tour covering both topics and she was so helpful in putting together an itinerary that covered both. She also suggested changing the day of our tour so that all the sites we wanted to visit would be open. We were picked up on time by Jana and Tomas, our driver, in a very comfortable van. Jana checked with us to find out what we had already seen so that we could concentrate on other aspects. She was very organised, knowledgeable enthusiastic and we saw places and sites both in the city and outside that we would never have found on our own. The amount of information we were given was just right - enough to gain a good understanding but not so much that we were overwhelmed. She even included snacks and water as our tour went for 5 hours. At the conclusion of the tour Jana gave us a package with maps, tourist information and lots more information about everything we had talked about, including suggested books and movies. She followed up later to check that the tour had met our expectations and whether anything could be improved. The tour, Jana and Tomas were excellent and I definitely recommend using Jana to organise your tours in Prague.Written January 2, 2020

- texashornedfrog0 contributionsJana Michalcova - a perfect Prague GuideWe were a group of 4: two couples visiting Prague, and we wanted to learn all about the history of Old Town Prague. Jana spent over 4 hours with us, and we came away with great insight into the beauty and history of this city. She was friendly, intelligent, and even ate lunch with us in a small restaurant off the beaten tourist path. Jana knows so much about the Jewish heritage, the World War II era, and the Communist times of Prague. She was a joy to be with, and we all felt we gained a new friend.Written October 17, 2017

She is a professional with tremendous knowledge of the city . A very charming young lady - who navigates you through the city with knowledge of an expert. - JaCob50 contributionsPerfect introduction to PragueThere are many guides to choose from. We chose Jana and we were delighted. Three hours of information, history, top tips, sight seeing etc - all part of the Grand City Tour starting at 10.45 in the Old Town Square. We learned so much about this beautiful and fascinating city and were signposted to good places to eat and drink 'off the beaten track'. We took up almost all of them and were were pleased to have done so. Marvellous. Payment is via tips.Written January 1, 2015

- schickch0 contributionsA must to kick off PragueWhat a perfect way to kick off your Prague experience. Jana is so knowledgeable and wonderful to be around. We learned so much from her walking through all the historical sites. We did this on our first day in the city so we would know where to focus the rest of our stay. It was beyond perfect!! She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and pubs for the remainder of our trip. Definitely look her up for your trip to Prague. She will tailor your trip to exactly what you are looking for.Written August 15, 2013
- MichaelC1863420 contributionsJana MichalcovaWe totally agree with all the 5 star reviews already made. My wife and I (both seniors) engaged Jana to introduce us to the highlights of Prague over two mornings on a recent trip. It was a highlight of the trip, both the places visited, the history explained and meeting Jana, having the opportunity to hear about life and culture in her country. My wife has her limits with walking etc but Jana could not have been more sensitive or helpful to our needs, choosing nice coffee and lunch stops during which we enjoyed her company which added so much to our visit. First class, knowledgeable, articulate, and friendly. MichaelCWritten July 16, 2013
- Brenda W0 contributionsExcellent guide, fun person! We were most delighted with this enthusiastic young lady who has an amazing depth of knowledge about her home town, its history and its sites to see, on and off the beaten path! She will personalize your tour, and tailor it to your time allowance, interests and physical ability. We were four "seniors" on our "free time" from our river cruise, and she helped us make the most of it! Her personality is delightful, her command of English is excellent, and she speaks with almost no accent. She "picked up" on my husband's teasing nature right away, and gave back as much as she got! We only wish we had another day with her!Written June 8, 2013

Had a great day with Jana. I only had one day to spend in Prague and she showed me the whole city (she even met me at 7am!) She was very good about catering the tour to my interests. I felt like I had the whole city to myself. Will definitely use her again if I'm ever in Prague.

We were on tour with a Minor Hockey team and our tour of Prague was something we'll all remember for the rest of our lives. Jana, our tour guide, kept our group of 15 year old's interested throughout the tour. She added charm and personality with a vast knowledge of the city and it's history. I would highly recommend Jana Michalcova as your tour guide. Thank you!

We were a group of 8 guys for our forum retreat in Prague. Jana helped us ahead of the trip and helped make all our restaurant and activity reservations.
Her knowledge of Prague's history is great. We really enjoyed the guided tour of the Prague Castle and the Jewish quarter with her.
We wish we had more time to see some of the other sights in Prague

This Prague Guide is responsive, dedicated and a pleasure to use in getting to know Prague.
I walked the City with Marek, an affable and knowledgable tour guide.
My plan was to use the services the first day and then explore further on my own. It worked out
very well. Marek was a wealth of historical and useful information and he related interesting stories as we walked. I covered much more territory and learned a great deal more than I ever would have trying to do Prague solo.
Use this company. It is a great value for the money and will make your Prague visit unforgettable
3 hours is my recommended minimum..more if you have the endurance and time..

Fell in love with the city of Prague - all thanks to Jana! She led an incredible tour of the city and was super accommodating based on our timeline and areas of interest. Jana smartly started us at the top of the hill near the monastery and we worked our way down through the city! She did a great job of explaining the history of every building, every walkway, every bridge - even the Castle lights. Did you know the Rolling Stones paid to have the Castle lit up at night? I did not. Jana naturally did! All in all, I cannot recommend Jana enough! Thanks again!

Jana made Prague come alive. She had a wealth of knowledge that included history of Old Town, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge & Jewish Ghetto with how WWII changed it all. Jana had early access for private tour of Strahov Library which is not to be missed. Her personal experience of living through the Soviet Occupation made this tour the highlight our trip to Prague.

I visited Prague for approximately a month and took two tours in one day with Jana to learn about
WWII and the Czech Republic. We spent the morning touring in the city on foot, had a nice lunch, and spent the afternoon/early evening at Terezen, the nearby Jewish Ghetto and museums, and Lidice (the village destroyed in reprisal for the assassination of Heydrich.)
I must admit I had high expectations as I had previously researched these subjects and places extensively. Jana met and exceeded those expectations in every way. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to tell me so much I did not know. When I met her that morning, I felt instantly comfortable and she graciously answered all my questions throughout the day. In addition to her high level of education on the subjects she covers, Jana is very personable and kind. You can tell she really wishes for you to have a high quality experience. For the non walking part of our day, Jana arranged for a great driver to take us and there was even WiFi in the car. As others have mentioned in their reviews, she adds personal touches that make the tour even better, such as bringing a candle for you to light in the crypt in the Church of Saint Cyril.
Although the subject matter was tough, touring with Jana was truly the highlight of my trip. She was also able to help me find information about possible living relatives in Prague, for which I am so thankful. I felt truly enriched by the time I spent. I usually prefer to explore without a guide, but I am very glad I made the decision to instead be guided by Jana for this part of my visit to Prague. I know I would not have come back with the same level of knowledge and insight had I not. I also would not have known I could walk in the tunnels at Terezen or that I was looking at the cell that once held the man who started WWI, among other things.
Jana also provides a set of relevant and helpful maps and brochures I continued to reference throughout my trip. I will definitely be going on more tours with her in the future as she offers many. My advice to anyone considering a tour with Jana is not to hesitate for a moment and make sure you get your booking completed well in advance of your trip so you do not miss a great opportunity.
One last observation I wish to share is that there is no certification process to be a tour guide in Prague. As I returned to some of the places I went with Jana (specifically standing in front of the clock tower in Old Town Square), I actually overheard other guides with large groups giving information that was not entirely correct. You can be confident this will not happen on a tour with Jana. She is actually an expert with the education, background, and experience to give you accurate and valuable information and easily handles questions without relying on a canned script. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this experience. If you are on the fence about it, go ahead and book a tour. You can’t go wrong with Jana leading the way.

Jana led an exceptional tour! I was able to book her for a tour about the complicated history of Prague during WWII and she explained all this while showing me the exact places events occurred. I did not know much about the Czech Republic's heroic efforts or the price it paid, but Jana was fantastic and took time to answer all my questions. I loved that she brought a memorial candle and matches in her purse so that in the crypt of the church of St. Cyril and St. Methodius, I could light a memorial candle to one of the heroes who lost their lives there in the fight against the Nazis. At the end of the tour she gave me a bag that held a map, the names of movies and books about the Czech resistance, and more useful information for my time in Prague and for later. My trip to Prague would not have been complete without this stellar tour!

We did a last minute trip to Prague and luckily Jana had an afternoon free to show us the city. She had been recommended to us by a family member who highly recommended her after spending parts of three days with her last Xmas. It was perfect. Much better than a group tour where you are trying to get close enough to hear, and seeing things that are not necessarily of interest to you. She asked us what interested us and then also made suggestions of places to visit. Got to wander through parts of the city and hear the history. Great history and stories told in a casual and topical way that brought the City to life. Thanks Jana! Hope to return to this beautiful city one day.
