IMPORTANT: WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE SOLO TRAVELERS FOR THIS TRIP! MINIMUM BOOKING: TWO PERSONS. After a journey of about an hour in a comfortable minibus we will arrive at the exciting Czech castle, Karlštejn, founded in 1348 by Charles IV, the most powerful Czech king. We will spend about one and a half hours visiting the important parts of the castle together. Later we will visit an exiting natural wonder – the Czech Grand Canyon, located nearby the castle. The unique atmosphere of this abandoned limestone quarry will surprise you. There is one more excursion, to the famous glassworks, where you can admire the art of traditional Czech crystal glass and the skills of the glassmakers. After this excursion, the amazing lunch in nice location will be fine? Important: Until the end of April the glasswork is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Those days the excursion is replaced by a visit to the historical brewery with tasting local beers. Sundays are the factory closed all year long.

Fantastic Tour
Oct 2021
We took the Karlstejn Castle and Glass factory Tour in early October 2021. Vladimir and Roman were our tour guides in two vehicles and they made sure we had a great day. First we visited the glass factory and learned about all production steps from glass blowing to finished product by watching the employees performing these tasks. There was also the possibility to shop for some crystal products. After that we went to this very scenic castle. A tour guide showed us some of the interior rooms and told us about the history and it's builder Charles the 4th. We had an excellent lunch and then strolled back downhill to the vans. On the way home we stopped at the old limestone mines of "little America", an area which was used to produce some European Western movies. Vladimir and Roman drove us safely back to Prague. It was a day we really enjoyed. We can recommend this tour highly.

This trip is definitely worth it!!
Dec 2019 • Friends
The castle is like something out of a fairytale! And the glass/crystal factory tour is very interesting with beautiful creations you can purchase after. Vladimir appeared to be very knowledgeable and was a good driver. I would normally give this a five star but the lunch was not a three course tasting lunch rather just a one course. Also, while I am thankful we didn’t have to walk up the very steep hill the five euros that was reported that we should owe the driver should just be included in the original price of the tour.

Dear Kristen, thank you very much for joining us for our Karlštejn and Nižbor tour. We all are glad you enjoyed your time with Vladimir, and you liked both locations. Very briefly to your points. The taxi uphill is not ordinary service, some strictly sporty people insisting to conquest the hill by walk, and moreover, the taxi itself is not always available, especially out of the peak season. So we prefer to offer this option separately and not as part of the trip. If the service is so unpredictable, this is the best way according to us. Lunch: so sorry it was just simply misunderstanding. Vladimir should explain to you more exactly how the thinks working by us. Because we do not offer a fixed menu like many other companies, and our trips are semi-private, our guests choose meals a la carte. Vladimir apparently forgot to tell you about you can, of course, order the whole set. It's his mistake and my turn saying big sorry. End of the year, we all are bit tired :) Anyway, thanks a lot for these points, we always learning something new Kristen, I wish you all the best and hope to meet you again soon in Prague! Happy Holiday! Bara

Great tour
Nov 2019
Well worth going on this tour! The glass factory was very impressive to see and to watch how they make the glass. The castle was very interesting to see and to go through. Bit of a walk up the hill since we went during low season and there were no taxis or carriages to take us up but it helped to work up our appetites to enjoy the lunch that followed!

Awesome day trip to Prague countryside
Aug 2019
We thought our reservation was for a small group tour of Karlstejn castle and the Glass factory but we had a private tour with Vlad! On the ride to the castle we stopped to see the "grand canyon" which was very interesting. The castle has its own guides and the tour was very informative. The glass factory was my favorite part (besides the delicious lunch). We got to see how crystal glass is blown from beginning to end. Any broken pieces are reused by melting down and including in a new batch. The crafts persons did awesome work on the glasses after they had cooled. Vlad ordered our lunch for us and it was all very different from American food but delicious. I would do this trip again and buy more glasses!

Hidden treasures
Sep 2019
What a fun day we had riding out to the castle! It was so nice to leave the driving to Bruno as we enjoyed the countryside in a comfortable van and did not worry about which turn to take, as there were many and the castle is well hidden! Terrific tour of the castle and then a quick stop at the deep quarry. Then off to the glass factory. That was quite an adventure to watch the artisans at work. I have a deeper appreciation for the craft of crystal glass making. Fun lunch with new friends from the tour. Highly recommend!

Fantastic trip
There were 6 of us in our tour today, we were picked up from our hotel on time by Vladimir our driver/guide. First stop was the castle. It’s absolutely stunning, the views are amazing. We had a guided tour of the castle by a castle guide, his knowledge was first class, so informative and interesting too, this lasted about an hour. Our next stop was the brewery, guided tour around it all including seeing the bottling plant and a beer sample, and it was a large beer too. Very nice indeed, again the knowledge of the guide was excellent, she explained the history of the brewery and Vladimir interpreted for us as well as us having an English tour booklet.
We then walked to a restaurant for a surperb lunch of local food, freshly prepared and also more beer, this went down very well for everyone, plenty of food too. It was a lovely interesting day spent with a very lovely guide, chatting and laughing with us and answering all our questions. This tour is highly recommended and great value for money.
Thank you for the trip Vladimir, though we would include you in our picture too

First class
Booked this tour for our last day in Prague and added the option of a collection from our hotel.

We picked this tour as the operator limits the group size to 8 and we wanted something a little less “herd of cattle” experience.

Our driver, Vladimir, picked us up on time and we were amazed that we were going to be the only people on the tour.

Vladimir was fantastic, a good driver and kept us entertained throughout the trips to and from the sights with great conversation and insight into Czech culture and society.

Our first stop was the glass factory, what a great stop, watching truly skilled workmen turning lumps of Milton glass into beautiful works of art was amazing. The guide from the glass factory was incredibly knowledgable and we could get so close to see in detail the skill of the craftsmen.

Next we stopped at a restaurant for lunch. The restaurant was a converted railway building and had such great character. The owner was a former Czech movie star who had bought the building to save it from destruction and renovated it himself. The owner was present as was great to chat with.

The food was local Czech working food and was very good, beautifully prepared and presented.

Next we were off the Karstein castle. The castle guide was very knowledgable, but did speak a little fast (even for native English speakers). However the tour was very informative and interesting.

The road to Karstein castle was very windy and had upset my girl-friends stomach. Vladimir was amazing, foregoing the planned taxi ride from the car park to the castle and arranged a horse-drawn carriage for the trip.

This was a very professionally organised tour with the emphasis totally focused on the customers.

I cannot recomend this tour and company highly enough

Thank you Vladimir and Lada
