Poor planning on our part, but great city
Went about 15 years ago. Great city, lousy hotels because we didn’t do our research. Just went on a whim during a trip to Germany. Want to go back, but will research first!

Very informative way of learning about the Czech Republic
Very enjoyable way to get an informative history of the Czech Republic in the 20th century. That was the main reason for our visit, and it didn't disappoint. Only minor issue for me would be the lack of signage and the direction pamphlet. Maybe it was just me!!

      Chime chime chime
Set in the old town ornate clock. The chimes were a bit difficult to see as only the heads move on some and the Skelton pulls a rope. Lift to the top worth the money. Great views over the square and city.

Very nice inside of museum, but more for the family with kids.It is big, but you have place to sit if you get tired
The inside of museum is magnificent, but the exhibition is an average for me, this is more for the family with kids-kids would love it!But still nice to see everything..since I like history, that wasn't bad made, and also the exhibition of evolution of animals. I didn't like that there is no written direction where to go, so you are trying to not skip anything, and in the middle of that was one store with museum staff, they could put it at the end, like they did with the smaller one( the smaller is on good place, but too small).

      Brilliant tour
We had a great tour with Michea. Very informative and highly funny, was a shame when our tour of the Castle complex ended. Loved our included tram ride, two birds with one stone.

Awesome Tour Guide, Perfect Bite Sized information of Czech history and culture both modern and gothic
This tour was excellent! It gave a good quick overview of modern and historical Czech culture and customs without staying too long on one thing. Our tour guide Veronica was wonderful not only with historical information but also cared enough to introduce us to the tram system and made sure we used our time effectively! If this is your first trip to Prague I definitely recommend!

You WON'T skip any queues with this one
Avoid. This company has no agreement with the castle and cathedral staff so you won't be able to skip any queues. In fact on the day we went the queue was unusually long and we had to wait with the guide for an hour in the cold. We also had to wait 30 min while the guide was getting us some extra tickets because the company didn't give her enough. The guide was a very nice young woman (likely first job after highschool) and none of it was her fault. When other people started getting angry at her for having to wait so long the only thing she could do was find another guide from the same company who was in the same situation as her. Very obvious that the company that organised this trip set these guides for failure with lack of support and resources.

      Informative and reflective
Our bus dropped us off near the river and we trekked up streets to the Old-New Synagogue, the oldest functioning synagogue in Europe, went inside and down some steps. Our guide gave a brief explanation then we walked out and along some more streets to the Pinkas Synagogue with 80,000 names written on the walls. They all belong to Czech Jews who never returned from the concentration camps after WWII. On exiting, we walked up some steps to the Old Jewish Cemetery, one of the largest of its kind in Europe. Exiting by the gate, we walked to the Jerusalem Synagogue and entered its large interior which has a high circular rosette window with the Star of David. As you exit there is a gift shop. Beside this synagogue is a small park with a bronze statue of novelist Franz Kafka. The monument depicts him sitting on the shoulders of a headless figure, in reference to the author's 1912 story “Depiction of a Struggle” (wherein the narrator leaps onto his acquaintance's back and rides him like a horse). People stop to have their photo taken holding the statue’s dangling feet which are rubbed shiny as opposed to the dark metallic figure. From here our tour group walked back towards the river and took our bus to the hotel through Prague's congested early evening traffic.

A fast march with no interior access
This Prague walking tour was part of a Viking Cruises extension. Our guide met us at the hotel at 8:30 AM and took off at high speed so we could ‘distance’ ourselves from another group. We stopped at Wenceslas Square then looped behind the Old Town Square coming out at the Astronomical Clock beside the Christmas Market. Then thru the cobblestone back streets to the Charles Bridge and across to the other side where we had “free time” for a bathroom break, coffee or shopping. Next came a climb down steps and along back streets coming out at a busy intersection with trams and cars. We managed to cross that in two groups then along a side street to a parking lot where we boarded a bus to Prague Castle. We walked into the Castle yard, but the tour did not include entrance to St. Vitus Cathedral, so we stood outside, and she droned on about the historical eras of the structure. Nor was there time for individuals to buy a ticket to enter the church. We hiked back out past the decorative guards on display and onto the bus back to the hotel by 1:30 PM. In a post-Covid world, I have noticed many of the excellent tour guides have found other employment and their replacements are not as good.

      Great Tour!
The tour was very well organized with meeting place, check in, splitting into groups, etc. Our guide, Veronica, was very knowledgeable and experienced with these tours. She told us all about the castle and surrounding buildings as well as giving us tips on riding the trams and other hints about visiting Prague.

      Plenty to see
I visited with my friend and we bought tickets for the palace, cathedral and some of the other areas. It was good value for money, especially as you could use over 2 days in case you didn't get to see something. We went to the cathedral on the second day as the queue was enormous on our first day. My favourite area was the old street, it was really cute and you could get an idea of how they used to live. There was a lovely little shop, where we bought Christmas decorations that were much cheaper than at the markets. The castle is still used, and we managed to see the changing of the guards. My advice would be to get there early to avoid the queues!

      Prague National Museum
Amazing amazing amazing and the word is not self explanatory. The way describes by the visitors like 2 hrs is enough to cover this huge amazing museum but honestly based on my experience as museum lovers. This museum is totally different. It is 2 buildings connected internally as an adult I purchased ticket with 300 kc and also the same price online. I attended and the guide in the reception explains what is available and then direct me into a locker and coat rooms which you can keep your staff safely which is another good service so you can move and enjoy. I attended the Olympic museum and nothing much to see then moving to the 20th century museum which was wooow amazing to go through the history of the country and how things were moving till day this took most of my time as history lover beside it is huge information to be shared and processed. Moving to the next historical building which was another wooow on the building, feelings and atmosphere. It is another huge place to visit and explains the history of the building and the reason of the way build then you start moving in huge rooms each transfer you to the next and you can’t stop even if you are tired. Then there is a next level which will take you into the prehistory where a lot of animals display and explains what is it starting from the earth moving to the ocean. Then next is the stones and minerals which was another woooow. Then next level is to reach into the copala which is different thing to have an eye on whole Prague from the top walking on the glass. It is really worth visit and take your own time don’t rush because you will regret missing it. I recommend keeping 3-4 hrs for this visit.

      Really Bad Experience
This one was so bad it felt like a scam. We had trouble finding the location where the tour would start as it was not very clear in the instructions. The guide, David, was incredibly rude and explained, slowly, how stupid we were. Never did get the tour we paid for. We just walked back to the clock for entry into the stairs to the top of the Astronomical Clock. If I knew how bad this would be, I would have saved myself money by purchasing the tickets for entry to the Astronomical Clock at the clock location. It's unfortunate that this was our first experience in Prague, not a great first impression.

The tour was moving, informative, and sobering. People who sign up should note that the meeting point is NOT at the address in the confirmation (on the side of Rudolfinum); it’s in front, outside. Look for the blue and white umbrellas. Nor is it self guided (that’s what we signed up for); we had charming guides who spoke an impressive number of languages and were very informative. Luckily we had enough cash on hand for a reasonable tip. It’s an hour each way so you can reasonably do something in the morning, do the tour, and be back in time for dinner. Highly recommend!!

The trip was well organised. The guide arrived in time to the meeting point and handed us some water bottles and provided some basic explanations. We then headed for Terezin in a mini-van. The guide provided an ample introduction to the history behind Terezin. The journey took around 50 min, but they elapsed in a sight. We visited the cemeteries and the crematory in Big Terezin and then had a tour through the main streets. We then headed for Small Terezin, where the guide provided detailed explanations. The visit finished with a film about the propaganda that nazies made about Terezin. The guide had very good command of Spanish, Italian, and also English. She was very friendly and well informed. The was able to create a nice atmosphere in my group. The net time of the visit was roughly three hours. Very good experience. I definitely recommend it.

A really enjoyable tour of Terezin including the small fortress and ghetti. Our tour guide/driver was informative throughout the trip including transfers to and from Terezin. We also had time to visit the cemetery and crematorium, which was an added bonus to the trip.

    We would highly recommend.

The story of Theresienstadt-Terezin is compelling on so many levels, but this trip just missed a few of them. Let me start by saying; this tour is still worth it, if you have done your research and have some background with the Holocaust. If not, then you might not enjoy this particular trip or tour company.

The positives are obvious; phenomenal site of remarkable historical significance, GREAT secondary tour guide who took the group through the Small Fortress, and the price is definitely decent for the duration of this tour.

The first issue of note, the description of this tour stated that a maximum of six people would make the trip, but we counted 18 on our visit to Terezin. Again, not a huge deal, but not what was promoted in the description.

Next, we were not able to enter the actual Ghetto Museum, on the grounds of the Small Fortress, or Magdeburg Barracks, in the town/Large Fortress. Again, this was disappointing, but not crushing.

Finally, our tour guide was very well-intentioned, but her English was so strongly accented that we often had trouble piecing together more complex thoughts. Great job, but it was hard to understand her sometimes.

There is so much more to say, but I will leave it at this: average tour, but an absolutely amazing place! Do your research beforehand and you will enjoy this particular tour so much more.

Straight forward trip. Tour rep was very friendly and greeted us with a complimentary bottle of water before giving a brief description. No time messing around, we got straight on the bus and headed to Terezin. As sad as the place was, the trip was very interesting and we saw and learned a lot. Overall, a pleasant experience. I would recommend this trip.
    Thanks guys!

It was a good drive 40 miles northwest of Prague, where this entire town (bordered by an 18th-century military fortress); where an ancient fortress structure was turned into a concentration camp by the Nazis.

This trip was very meaningful for Tom, as it also allowed him to explore a MASSIVE fortification built in 1798 by the Hapsburg empire to defend the country from “then” any possible Russian invasion.

In its day the 12-mile perimeter of the town of Terezin (named after St Tereza) was totally surrounded with a defensive double wall and mote, along with a connected side fort (also called the small fort or better known to Tom as a Keep = last line of defense STRONGHOLD) for citizens to escape to should the outer wall fortification be breached in 1798.

In its day the fortification was never challenged by foreign invaders, and all the cannon armament was removed during the first world war as scrap metal.

The small fort (And it is NOT really that small) is where the army garrison was housed and it also served as the town’s prison.

At the start of WWII and the German occupation, most of the towns people had evacuated, so the Germans turned the now empty town (inside this large walled complex) into a Jewish ghetto (holding area) and thus a place (example = reverse corridor entrance at the bottom of a funnel) where the Germans organized further deportation out to other camps.

The “small fort” facility became the entrance processing location for over 155,000 Jews / Gypsy’s / Homosexuals / Political dissidents, that the Germens wanted to eliminate. Of that number 35,000 died in Terezin from torture / hard work / execution / typhoid disease, and the rest then transported to other work / death camps. At the end of the war, with the Russians liberating the camp, many of the inmates had nowhere to go and stayed inside the ghetto for months, but typhus disease ran rapid and only 3,600 survived. Many Russian doctors and soldiers also died of typhus as they were trying to help the inmates.

This tour turned into a powerful experience for us, as we were told of the terrible things that happened here to both Jewish families and political prisoners.
