What to expect
  • Meet your chef in Prague Market and set about browsing the stalls. Peruse the fruit, vegetable and other culinary stands, and hear about Czech cuisine and foodstuffs from your chef. Wander around for roughly an hour to pick up the freshest and best ingredients for your class. Once stocked up, head to the nearby cooking studio, don an apron, and begin. If you wish, you can skip the market visit and simply meet your chef and fellow cooks at the studio. Head into the modern kitchen, get a briefing on the dishes that make up your chosen 3-course menu, and start preparing the supplied ingredients. Vegetarian dishes are available as options if you wish. Get step-by-step directions from your chef and learn handy tips on Czech cooking styles, preferences and seasonings as you work. Depending on your chosen menu, you could be cooking up dishes like bramboráky (potato pancakes with smoked meat or cheese) and ovocné knedlíky (fruit dumplings). After roughly two or three hours of cooking, sit down to enjoy your culinary creations with your fellow cooks. Gain feedback from your chef about your dishes and learn more about Czech cooking as you eat and relax. If you wish, pair your food with the drinks (own expense) available, including alcoholic drinks. When you’ve finished your meal, say your goodbyes. Your experience ends when you leave the school.

I had a great time in the cooking class. Chef Lukas was super nice, funny and very professional. The meals were cooked in small groups (3 persons on average) and were universally delicious.

I wanted to cook traditional Czech dishes and that's what we did. This hands-on class and market tour was fun and informative. I now have recipes to use for family dinners not found in my extensive cookbook collection. I like to take cooking classes wherever I travel and this one is as good as I've taken around the globe. If you like to cook this class will enhance your trip.

From reading the other reviews for this class, I was extremely excited to book this activity. It seemed like a great thing to do & that we would learn and do a huge amount, due to their advertised ‘hands-on’ role. This was extremely far from the truth.

The market tour was essentially a waste of time. We were showed to stalls and told ‘these sell x because they are in season’. There was no interaction with the stalls or actual purchasing of ingredients. No information about what to look for and what not to look for.

When we actually got to the kitchen to begin ‘cooking’, it was beyond basic. Everything was pre-prepared aside from cutting some vegetables and frying some onions. Most ingredients were actually frozen, including the mushrooms and bread, which made no sense to me due to the market being right next door. Even the meat we used was cheap chicken thighs which was completely precooked for us, and we didn’t interact with it at all.

I’m so genuinely upset at how disappointing my experience was considering the price we paid, which rivals the same as a tasting menu in some of the top restaurants in Prague. The ‘course’ was even finished at 11.30am instead of the advertised 1.30pm.

I’m not sure if I just got extremely unlucky or if I had different expectations, however I know for sure that I’ll be doing more research before booking this sort of activity again.

Looking for something different than a tour? Don't get me wrong, I love tours, but for something different, do a cooking class. We made Garlic Soup, Roasted Pork with dumplings, and strudel. Absolutely delicious!

Vladimir is a real pro, star of hundreds of YouTube videos. The cooking was hands-on and the results were delicious. The traditional Czech soup will definitely make an appearance at our house in the winter. The teaching kitchen takes a little time to find in the maze of market halls so allow an extra 10 minutes. Most of all, the class is fun. Come hungry.

We had an amazing time with Chef Vladmir. He shared with us all sorts of fascinating stories and insights into the Czech culture as he taught us to make the 3 dishes. The atmosphere was super relaxed and a comfortable environment to learn in. We made a ton of food and it was great to know that all extra food is given to the homeless.

Fun to learn that they also film master chef here too!

We chose the Special Spring Menu of Creamy Pea Soup with Crispy Bacon and Garlic Dressing, Rabbit with Stuffing and Chive Potatoes and Strawberry Soufflé Cake with Crumble. The best experience aside from the food was talking with our Chef. He not only showed us how to prepare the meal, but also told us about Czech cuisine and culture. This cooking class was a fantastic introduction to Prague.

Turned out to be a private cooking class for the 2 of us! Chef Vladimir was our chef for the day. One of us being vegetarian we had requested for a vegetarian cooking option which was very promptly offered by the Chef parade team. In fact, they were super cooperative enough to offer both - vegetarian and non vegetarian meal options for the cook for an additional nominal fee of 20 Euros, which we very gladly took. Coordinated with Sabina over the phone who was also super helpful.
The kitchen where we cooked was super clean and well stocked. We opted out of doing the market visit as we were not keen.
We cooked a vegetable soup (Starter) chicken done 2 ways - with a paprika sauce & mushroom sauce & Carlsbad dumplings (Main Course - Non Veg) and Potato pancakes with cabbage (Main Course - Veg) and finally cottage cheese dumplings with fruit for the dessert!
Chef Vladimir was an absolute delight and we had a super fantastic time. Well executed experience and definitely recommended if you enjoy cooking and devouring the meal ;)

Had a delightful experience at Chefparade Cooking School - easy to set up, the food was delicious - and very representative of Czech Republic cooking - and I also learned a few new cooking techniques - cooking poached eggs in boiling water. Learned how American spices are different from CR ones - caraway is called cumin, cumin has a different name.
We made soup, dumplings (CR style), roasted pork and a delicious dessert that our chef said was a childhood favorite of his.
Would highly recommend!
