I am a communism geek and I needed this tour sooo much and it definietly satisfied my expectations. My tour guide Tereza, she is an awesome guide with tremendous amount of knowledge who does not stutter while responding much detailed questions and gives you great information (which of it is, most of the time, insider information) as she lived in some of this communist era in Czechoslovakia.
I had so many doubts before the tour, (what to choose, why this company etc.) but I’m glad that I’ve picked ExtraVaganza, I DEFINIETLY recommend the company and the tour - with or without the prior knowledge regarding communism in Central Europe.

Our tour guide Tereza was fantastic! We lucked out with only the three of us in the group. Tereza was a font of information on this fascinating era in Czech history - from the war to the Velvet Revolution she really knew her onions, including all the multiple questions we had. The lunch stop was a real time capsule moment and the bunker tour was so interesting- especially because it was under a hotel built exclusively for communist party officials and all the rooms were bugged! Book this tour - it’s 3+ hours but we were absorbed the whole time.

Hello,
Happy to hear that you've enjoyed the time machine back to the 70s during the lunch in a working-class canteen. Also I am pleased that you found Tereza's stories interesting for the whole 3,5-hour tour. Thank you very much for your opinion:)
Kind regards,

Klara provided us with the rich story of communism in Czechoslovakia, supplemented by photos and sites, concluding in an actual nuclear bunker revealing a plethora of detailed objects and rooms that conveyed the mentality of communism in the country. We are very lucky and enriched to have learned this story, and grateful to Klara for the kind and personable way she led the tour, involving great conversation, personal anecdotes, and humor. I would recommend that anyone interested in Czech history take this tour!

We did the communism tour and greatly enjoyed it! The guide was friendly and knowledgeable. As she was 13 in 1989, she could also share her own memories, which was interesting. As a historian of Soviet Russia I am always wary of guides who oversimplify or distort history but this time there were no mistakes of this type (although the tour is of course tailored for an audience without prior knowledge about the history of the region).

Klara was a marvelous and highly knowledgeable guide, with loads of funny stories and a positive attitude. She provided us with a spectrum of details around the communism in Czechoslovakia. She was well prepared and accommodating to our needs. I highly recommend the tour and Klara.

We did the Communism and Bunker tour with Dominic today and we thought it might not have added much to our knowledge having done two other walking tours in the preceding days. Glad to say that this was not the case. Dominic achieved balancing the “serious history stuff” with some really entertaining humour and at times a personal family perspective - although he was young he clearly has a deep understanding and passion of the history and culture of his nation. We had a small group of only about 7 people so talking and asking questions was very easy.
The bunker is definitely a highlight, add it to the walking tour and you won’t be disappointed. After the tour ended we were lucky to get a fab lunch recommendation from Dominic.

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was happy to answer all our questions as she led us on a fascinating tour of communist history in Prague. The tour gave us a unique perspective on more contemporary Prague as our other tours were focused on a much earlier historical period. The tour also provided an interesting snapshot into what communist life was like, and a new appreciation for the Czech people.

Tour was interesting and very detailed. Tereza is well experienced and knowledgable, she was very prompt to share her personal experience living under the communist rule. The best part of the tour was visit to the nuclear bunker.

Klara was a brilliant guide. She was really knowledgeable and funny and was also willing to share her thoughts and feelings growing up in communist Czechoslovakia.
She took us to parts of the city that we'd not seen, despite being there for 3 days. We had lunch in a traditional Czech restaurant, which is in the basement of a shopping centre. We finished in the bunker and again Klara was full of enthusiasm and useful information.

I had a great time on the 'Communism and Bunker' tour this past weekend with Vaclav as my tour guide. I tend to do communist history type tours wherever I can in formerly communist countries, so have experienced a number of them. The tour was really interesting and kept me entertained for the entire four hours. The tour includes a really good variety of things to see and experience, including a guided walk through various parts of the city, a visit and opportunity for lunch and chat with Vaclav at a communist era canteen which still serves up typical fare, as well as the hidden nuclear bunker with some fascinating exhibits. I would have struggled to find a number of these things on my own. What really made the tour especially interesting though was the insight Vaclav provided throughout from his own experiences growing up in communist era Czechoslovakia, mixed in with his good sense of humour about a number of these things. I will definitely look to do another tour with Vaclav/this company next time I'm back in Prague.
