About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Footprints8027060 contributionsA delight for many senses.Beer and Baroque tour with super impressive PhD art historian and beer impassionata Katarina. Visited 2 architecturally impressive millenia old abbeys with centuries old brewing stories and contemporary breweries. Plus a mind-blowing gorgeous library with editions dating back to 9th century. Fascinating - and tasty.Written November 30, 2024
- evavZ2737FS0 contributionsExcellent Prague castle tourWe loved the tour around the Prague castle with Vadim! He's got so much knowledge and is excellent at sharing it. I would definitely advise to take this tour, with an additional remark that it would even be better to plan this tour after a more general introduction tour into Prague. We would have even better been able able to put the whole story in a larger perspective if we would have taken that more general introduction tour before as well. That's something Insight Cities does as well and even though we did not take that tour, considering our other experiences with them I expect it to be great and valuable too!Written November 25, 2024
- Helle M0 contributionsWander through Prague beautiful gardens and their amazing historyI live in Prague so this was a treat to play tourist in my own town. And I am so happy I did it, not only did I get the story of the gardens which I take a shortcut through (and quite some story) but I also saw a beautiful garden I did not even know existed. Add to that the in depth story of the not only the gardens but also Prague, which were told in an engaging, detailed and funny manner. And left me not only more appreciative of democracy but also even more proud of the city I call home. Highly recommend and would definitely go on another tour.Written November 18, 2024
- amsterdamo0 contributionsHighly recommended in depth toursWe definitely recommend using Insight Cities! Bonita and her team are so thorough in facilitating your most suitable city experience, and the guided tours are of such high quality! We took the Jewish history tour and Art Nouveau architecture tour of Prague and both were so interesting and entertaining. We love the mix of in-depth knowledge and understanding, time for conversation and surprising fun facts. Vadim and Bonita have so much knowledge of and passion for Prague and they are great at sharing all that.Written November 17, 2024
- joyb8080 contributionsWonderful, beautiful and super interesting tourI really learned so much on this tour - and I have lived in Prague for quite a long time! The gardens were perfect even in late October. I was transported with the descriptions of the lives of those who built these gardens (some hidden) 300, 400 and 500 years ago. Wonderful facts, quirky history, and mysteries unveiled. Lots of explanation around the meanings and placement of sculptures and frescos, as well as the gardens themselves. Did you know that grotto walls were intended to look grotesque? I won’t spoil the rest … A heart-filling experience that I would recommend to anyone who loves gardens and history.Written October 21, 2024
- DPLowcountry0 contributionsFascinating and Enjoyable ExperienceThis was a extremely informative and fun experience. Beginning with behind-the-ropes access to the Strahov library, our guide Vadim delivered a stimulating and informative narrative on the historical context of what we were seeing. He then capped it off with beer tasting sessions at two nearby breweries, with stimulating conversations about a variety of subjects amongst our small group. Wholly enjoyable and worthwhile. Vadim was great—passionate and friendly. Well done.Written October 17, 2024
- carolinebJ1766YC0 contributionsA unique and memorable experienceWhat a treat this was! A very intimate experience, where we were astounded by Bonita's knowledge and passion. She was able to tailor the tour to the needs of the group and we all learnt so much. I would highly recommend this experience if you like to delve beneath the superficial and to feel a real connection with historical Prague.Written October 13, 2024
- katiewP9772IZ0 contributions10/10 phenomenal tourThis was one of the best tours we have ever done. Great value. Vadim was wonderful, took the time to get to know us and what we wanted to experience out of this tour and the city of Prague. It was just us on the tour which really made the experience. We did the library as well which was phenomenal. Vadim was so knowledgeable and personable. We cannot recommend this tour enough. We know we will look into other Insight Cities tours!Written May 10, 2024
- Tour078378764850 contributionsThe tour made the trip! 100% would tour again. This tour made our entire trip! Brilliant tour guide Vadim took us on a perfectly-paced walking tour filled with just the right amount of fun, history, and recommendations. He pointed us towards a restaurant at the end of our tour that we'd never have chosen ourself, but it ended up being one of the highlights. He read us perfectly! Will be choosing Insight Cities for more tours in the future.Written April 11, 2024
- Trip7777820 contributionsThe tour guide was very knowledgeable and polite. We learned a lot about history and enjoyed the walk. Recommend to see.Very good tour. Tour guide is very knowledgeable. Interesting part in Prague history to see. We learned a lot of Pague history.Written March 20, 2024
- 335anyat0 contributionsThe right guide makes all the difference, and Vadim is the BEST!This was the very best tour we have ever been on! Vadim was an amazing guide, and kept myself and my 15 year old son engaged and fascinated the whole time. His knowledge was extensive, and the interesting facts he shared about Prague's history brought the city to life. I highly recommend booking this tour. My only regret is that we did the tour at the end of our trip instead of the beginning. We were disappointed we didn't get to explore the city with the perspective that Vadim shared. We'll just have to go back. P.S. We loved the tour so much, we booked one with Insight Cities Vienna right after. 5 stars for that one, too!Written February 5, 2024
- sakartv0 contributionsDon't hesitate to book with Insight Cities! We had a great experience with Bonita and Vadim. We joined Vadim for a behind the ropes visit to the Strahov Library before meeting up with Bonita for a tour of the castle complex. They are both such amazing guides--so engaging and interesting-- we wished we could have spent all of our time in Prague with them! I am confident that any tour with them would be amazing and I look forward to booking with them again.Written November 25, 2023
- Navigator7560230 contributionsCesky Krumlov: Trip of a lifetimeThe tour was absolutely fantastic and amazing. Our group was picked up from Prague. Our guides, Vod and Esther were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. The drive to Cesky was also a treat because we received a prelude of what was to come. If you are looking for adventure, a different experience, and good food, this is the tour. We enjoyed the shopping, cafes, and learning about Cesky history. Very interesting. I highly recommend the Cesky Krumlov tour with Insight Cities Prague. It is good for all ages. You will not be disappointed. Book today!Written November 14, 2023
- Lovable2070 contributionsGreat time with Vadim, the books and the beerVadim was an excellent guide and we had a great time on our tour! The libraries at Strahov are breathtaking, well worth the trip out there. I felt quite special being able to walk around the room, walk right up to the books and look at them while guests without the special access could only take pictures from either end. Vadim’s commentary made it come alive even more, he really did a wonderful job of explaining the context of the library’s creation. Even my father, who claims to know everything, admitted he learned a few new things - a true miracle. And the beer was excellent! The conversation flowed freely between the three of us and it was overall an enjoyable experience.Written November 10, 2023

Had the pleasure of having Vadim Erent, co-founder of Insight Cities be our guide.
I appreciate the scholarly insights he shared, touching not just on Art Nouveau but also on the Gothic, Baroque, Art Deco movements and how all these converged in Prague at different points in its History and Politics (and also the international context of these movements). If you enjoy intellectual discussions, I highly recommend this Art Nouveau as an alternative to the usual introductory tours.
I also took the Insight Cities tours for Buda and Pest in Hungary, and in Vienna and was also impressed by the learned and well informed guides.

My parents (in their eighties) and I loved this trip round Cubist and Art Nouveau Prague. I know Prague's Municipal House where we began, but had so much to learn about its historical significance, and that was just the start of an engaging architectural, cultural and historical odyssey (layered into just two hours and with very reasonable walking distances). To have a guide and mentor so steeped in the world of Prague, and able to fuse architecture, culture and history with such detail and infectious enthusiasm was wonderful and informative in the broadest sense. It has whetted my parents' appetite for more reading on Czech history, and, indeed on that of Central and Eastern Europe more generally.

Thanks so much for the lovely review. It was a total pleasure to tour you and your parents. It feels terrific to think that they caught some of my own fascination for reading about this incredible country and the countries that neighbor it! Hope to see you on other Insight Cities tours in Prague, Berlin, Vienna, Salzburg and Budapest.

This was such a great experience! Bonita, our excellent guide, gave us a Zoom walking tour in which she interwove history with architecture and sites which make Prague so unique and worth visiting. Originally from New York, Bonita talks non stop for an hour as she walks from the famous Old Town square through the nearby streets. Even if you've been there before, you will learn new information and see buildings and typography which will thrill you. At the end, you'll want to book tickets to see Prague for yourself, but in the meantime, I recommend seeing some of it through Bonita's eyes. Her husband is her camera man, and he did a great job weaving through the cobblestone streets and coming close up to windows so we could see inside. They do other tours also. Try Insight Cities yourself.

There's no mystery that this tour is listed as one The Guardian's global top 10 architecture tours. A fascinating look at how at the dawn of the 20th century Czechoslovakia was socially, economically and politically at the forefront of everything modern -- and the city's architecture was a reflection of this. Over a very quick-passing 3 hours, Vadim takes you to all the city's most important Art Nouveau/Deco buildings, as well as the unique Cubist buildings. Prague is known for its buildings and gardens, and to fully appreciate both I recommend visitors (and even Prague residents) take this Art Nouveau & Cubist Architecture Walking Tour on Day 1 of your stay, then the Renaissance & Baroque Gardens Walking Tour on Day 2. You won't need anything else!

Bonita led a truly informative tour with stops at some of Prague's most beautiful Art Nouveau sites -- and at some lesser-known gems. She provided a rich cultural history that put the arts and architecture of the period in perspective. Highly recommended.

This was quite an interesting and informative tour through art nouveau and cubism buildings hidden in the centre of Prague. Bonita showed us hidden passages and pointed out many details which we would not be able to discover by ourselves. If you want to see something modern and out of the beaten path, this tour is the right choice!

The next best thing to actually being there--the tour was on Zoom, but the techology worked so well that it was almost like walking along with Bonita as she gave her very knowledgable guided tour. The focus on Art Nouveau and Cubist architecture worked as a great jumping off point for learning about Prague's history as well as its contemporary life. Although our guides know the city and history so well, they could have filled the time by themselves, they welcomed questions from us, which is something that makes a remote tour exceptional instead of, say, watching just a video about the city. Even if planning an in-person visit to Prague, I suggest doing a zoom tour first because it's a great introduction to the city and will help a traveler become acquainted with the area before going. I look forward to my own opportunity to visit Prague.

Thank you for the kind review. It is such a wonderful thing for us to be guiding again, both by live stream and in person. If we've tempted you to visit this fantastic old Bohemian capital, even better! We'd be so delighted to have help you explore it in more depth. Thanks again!

Awesome experience! Originally a 3 hour tour, we spent 4 hours with guide Vadim, discussing not only art nouveau and cubism, but also gothic, baroque, historicism, Art Deco, functionalism and brutalism and taking a closer look at their connection with historical evolutions.
What made the tour great, was Vadim’s inspiring passion for and erudition concerning architecture and history. Also, he’s just a very friendly guy and an excellent tour guide!
So if you want to expand your knowledge, this is the tour for you. Well worth the price!

Vadim is an very passionate guide who took us on a fantastic tour around the city, showing us tons of hidden gems and great sights. His vast knowledge of the architectural history and art of this city was incredibly interesting. This was my second time in Prague, but thanks to Vadim I discovered a lot of great things that I missed the first time. Highly recommended!

We took this tour with Lenka in October 2019. We love art nouveau and had the opportunity to see many outstanding examples ; some well- known and many that were not as well known, but absolutely stunning. Lenka was extremely well-versed, and we talked about art, architecture, history and politics as we strolled the city. I was thrilled to see so many different examples that I had seen in picture books. The tour was a highlight of our trip to Prague, and I would recommend it thoroughly.
