Bring a coat and sturdy shoes as there is a good amount of walking involved. Venture into Germany’s Saxon Switzerland and visit Bastei, a cluster of sandstone pinnacles linked by a stone bridge high above the River Elbe. Walk on the bridge for bird’s-eye views over the Elbe valley before driving to the Pravcicka Gate in Bohemian Switzerland, situated on the Czech side of the border. Hike to the gate, Europe’s biggest natural rock arch, and admire its scale before continuing to Kamenice Gorge. Here, enjoy a boat trip through a narrow canyon, passing steep cliffs and wildlife-filled forests. Finally, return to Prague, stopping at the pretty town of Hrensko en route, before your tour ends at your hotel.

- georgianam67700Great experience, amazing views, awesome guide! We had such a nice day visiting these top locations in the Dresden area! Everything was perfectly organized, our guide, Mira took excellent care of us, answering all our questions and giving us tips for our future trips. The views were breathtaking and the boat trip was amazing ! The hike was moderate, we walked quite a bit and were pretty tired, especially since we had a hot day. Make sure you wear sunscreen, comfy shoes and clothes and keep your backpack light, you can leave any heavy things in the van. Since you'll be in two countries, and quite remotely, make sure you have some cash on hand, euro's work just fine in Czech Rep. Water was provided during the day and the lunch was delicious! Definitely recommended 👍
- stuartrF1086TM00A great day of hiking and sightseeingThis tour was so much fun. Not only did I get to see the things of interest I wanted to see but the guide was informative and very helpful. You can’t miss with the stunning views from the Bastei Bridge and of the Pravcicka Gate (sandstone arch). We also had a very nice lunch at a Czechian restaurant by a gorge. I was picked up and dropped off at my hotel after a full day of hiking and sightseeing. I would definitely recommend this tour 👍
- Wah Sang W00It is worth itPick up was on time. Cool and comfortable van with AC. Free lunch was better than expected. The views were breathing taking. The boat ride between the mountains was the highlight of the trip. It was nice hiking even though the temperature was 31 degree in August. The hike was not very challenging but involves quite a bit of walking up and down, 5 people in my group over 50 years old made it no problem! I think everyone loved it! At the end I fell asleep and the van dropped me back to my hotel. The tour is defo the highlight of my trip in Germany/Czech republic.
- 320margreetk00awesomefantastic trip with a great guide Edward, nice group, stunning views, excellent organised!! Margreet from Amsterdam
- Anil S00It was an awesome experienceMira the Tour Guide was excellent. He did his job with perfection and was there with us every step of the day. The food was great. The driver was amazing. He drove really well and the entire trip was superb
- kaitheoneandonly00Fun tour, experienced guideThe trip was extremely fun and Jan was a super good tour guide, I enjoyed myself a lot with a very diverse group of travellers from across the world. We were unable to make all three locations due to time constraints, but we had great breaks and amazing local food! I would highly recommend it :) (and I was the only one from Dresden that day, so Jan drove down personally to pick me to and fro).
- Jim W00Enlightening, challenging, and worth every minute!Jan is informative, articulately multilingual, attentive to his hikers. I am 76 years old and he offered assistance encouragement and care to enable me to make the entire journey. It's a challenging and breathtaking experience with scenic views and photo ops that were remarkable. We also stopped at the top of both the German and Czech sides of the journey for a relaxing break highlighted with wonderful beer. This is an experience I would never have anticipated and recommend it without reservation.
- TRAVEL_TIRELESSLY00Awesome Tour GuideThe tour guide Jan is funny and energetic. He kept the entries group entertained and engaged throughout the tour. All the sights on the trip are unforgettable. The place where he brought us to have lunch did not disappoint. If you want to visit the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland National Park without the trouble driving yourself or taking public transportation, this is the tour for you.
- Anonymous192900Nice day tripThe park is really amazing and super beautiful. Walks were rather easy but there was inclines on some which a few struggled with. Tour guide was nice and ensured to do all he could to make it the best for everyone. Lunch was at a nice secluded small cabin and stopped at the arc for a drink. Just a head up - the Arc part has suffered from a fire but is still very beautiful, definitely worth doing - but meant we werent able to do the boat part of the tour. There were other options though which were provided to us for the group to decide.
- Matthew B00Nice day trip from DresdenI booked this day trip during a business trip to Dresden. I went a few days early and thought this would be a nice way to see something outside of the city. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I was picked up at the hotel in Dresden exactly on time. Our guide, William, was very informative and entertaining. He kept me updated on changes to the itinerary due to shutdown of portions of the German side of the park. The flexibility to add something else to the tour as an alternative was much appreciated. We had a small group, perhaps others chose to cancel, but I chose not to cancel and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the day, despite anything we might have missed seeing. We saw the Bastei Bridge, Tisa Rocks, and drove to Decin in Czech Republic. The lunch was very good. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
- RLPitts00German govt shut down our whole itinerary and they still made a nice day of itThe German govt shut down their entire side of the park due to the fires within the 2 hours between when the guide last checked and when we got to our first stop. The guides had to come up with a whole new itinerary on the fly, including lunch. And they did. We went to the Tisa Rocks, and then walked around the castle gardens in Decin and up to the hilltop overlook. Once I got over the disappointment of not being able to see what I'd hoped to, I enjoyed myself.
- V4775ZLlynnk00Great value, good yimeDefinely not a trip to be missed. Wonderful time with diversity I group. One comment though that group leader shd take group photo and send out to participants
- lavikchristian00Amazing day outHad a fantastic trip to this beautiful part of the world. The hike was amazing, such beautiful nature. Well organized trip and great guide
- patrikks00Great nature get away with a lovely guide.I had the pleasure to take this trip from Dresden and visit all of the places alone with Jan. It was great, Jan is good to adapt the tour for your needs and you will most definately not regret taking it. He picked me up at Dresden, and then we went to visit the Bastei bridge and national park across the border. The walks are varied, different things to view and you won't bee bored. There are steep hikes, decents, boat rides, food great viewing points. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good hiking day.
- lanliw00GREAT!Jan is an excellent guide that keep the tour going even if I am the only person who signed up for the day. We had a very pleasant journey to the Bastei Bridge followed by the breathtaking Bohemian Switzerland National Park and boat ride (the route is very well planned and strategic!). Jan was so considerate that he prepared fruits to boost my energy level before the 1.5 hrs walking up to the Bohemian. The views of the arc was astonishing and we managed to finish the hike on time and catch bus to a small town, Mezna for lunch. The food is so good and the Czech brewed beer is amazing! We finished the tour after boat ride by calm forest and river view and finally end the tour with the soft-served gelato.

It was absolutely amazing that we did this trip with Cayman travels. The group was small, all interactive, especially William who guided us throughout the tour.
What I found interesting is that the trip was packed up with different activities and within very unique places of this National park, so there's absolutely 0 chance to get bored. Thanks to Cayman and William for conducting such an interesting trip.

This was a really lovely day out! Jan was our tour guide and really looked after the whole group during the day. He made sure everyone felt included and gave lots information and really good recommendations on the best views, particularly for photos. My boyfriend and I loved all aspects of the day, however one thing I would recommend is that you have a big breakfast before going or take snacks because you can get quite hungry.
I would definitely recommend this trip as you'll see amazing views and beautiful nature!

An incredible journey!!! Jan, (my guide), made sure that I did not miss any stunning spot and I have enjoyed the itinerary without rush. The scenery is truly amazing. Feel recharged after spending a day in the midst of nature. To mention that I have made the booking last minute and it was the only one tour operator that has accepted to organise the trip on Monday.

Our trip was booked for 27.7. We got email from agency 26.7 that the forest fire was still going on and the itinary will be changed. Agency also gave us chance for full refund which we decided to choose. We didn't get any reply from guide or from agency and I have also send couble emails after 26.7 to both of them. Still no refund... :(

Despite itinerary changes last minute due to forest fires, we had a lovely time! We were given the option to cancel and be refunded had we not wanted to take the alternative route.
Pickup was quick and frictionless, the van was comfortable and air conditioned, the group was small, enabling one-on-one conversation with the guide, the nature reserve was stellar, the hike was lovely but not too challenging, and the included lunch was cozy and pleasant.
Highly recommended to people visiting Prague who want a day outside the city.

Adam was our guide and he was awesome! He told us lots of great info while we were in the parks and during the short drive between stops. There were crazy storms that passed through the day before our trip, causing the boat ride to be turned into a different trip through a park with some amazing rock formations! This was an awesome day trip and showed some must-sees in both Czech Republic and Germany!

An amazing last minute booking! We spent 4 days staying in Prague. This was an amazing day trip and fully recommended. You can see the city in 3 days and this made the 4th so special and different! Well worth the time and money. The scenery was just breath taking. Great time of year to go with the autumn colours. Jam was a great tour guide, good sense of humour and we had a lovely small group on the tour with us. Absolutely amazing, fully recommend!

I live in Prague, but for the first time I had a chance to visit Bohemia Switzerland National Park and it was an amazing trip. I had to admire beautiful natural sandstone rock formations, beautiful view from the cliffs and magnificant boat ride on small river Kamenice. Jan was our tour guide and he was very professional and very flexible to our requirements. Thank you Jan very much again !!!

I'm thinking of booking this trip. But I was wondering, is this trip easy for someone who has a bed knee? How much it requires walking and hiking ?

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with knee problems. It's tough going up and just as bad impact coming down. It is beautiful, but if you go with a tour group, no point be so restricted. The only way is up and same way down!!

As I undertook this trip only once, I can only say I was lucky; you get a contract number only after booking so I believe you don’t have any other means to confirm the presence of Jan and Jacob before booking; also this is not their primary jobs but heard from the other group(Jacob)was their guide and the booking groups were merged for some time. Nonetheless, experienced drivers and guides are always provided irrespective of names. Wish you a happy trip- the locations covered are worth it.

I am traveling to Prague with husband, 21m old son and our parents. Not sure our parents can handle the hike as my mom is on the verge of knee replacement. Are there any options for seeing this park that involve minimal hiking?
moumita g
Frankfurt, Germany17 contributions
Hey Mukta
Unfortunately no alternate option than trekking to see the entire trail and that’s definitely not for elderly parents who are looking for knee surgery;the option can be waiting at the base of the trekking points and avail the boat ride (may need to be arranged in advance as the trip includes only one side).
The trip is definitely recommended and a must visit for Prague trip.Best wishes for your travel
