We have just arrived from the much talked about city "Kutna Hora", very famous for being the city of silver mines, for having the famous church of the Sedlec Ossuary, Church of Saint Barbara which is impressive and little else. Kutna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it was one of the reasons for going there...
Honestly, I was quite disappointed and I regretted having gone because in the end it is a long journey to see 3 things. The city is beautiful but very dull and lifeless, I don't know but for me it is missing something. Of course, the colors are different, but 🤷 I think it is overrated and I am happy for them, but I will try to express my opinion to my traveling friends if they ask me. For the record, I didn't come with the idea of going there but at the last minute we decided to go instead of seeing Karlovy and I think I was wrong.
Since the day before we went to Cesky Krumlov I decided to go see something closer. We went by train and it is a true marathon to see how little we saw. I travel a lot and I don't dislike few cities because I always think that each one has its charm, its people, its culture, etc. but Kutna for me was not worth going 84 km. which on the way back seemed like 840km😄

The scenery spots were fantastic but it would bs better to have spend more time on Ossuary and St Barbara rather than the ‘lunch time’ of 40 minutes in a square with only few restaurants and shops. The drop off location of bus could be nearer. The guide is knowledgeable and speaks good English.

I have to say I am surprised no one else from my group reviewed this.. It's one of the few bus trips I have been on where the bus driver locked his keys in the bus while it was running. The tour guide was bored, didn't like to smile and strained an apology at the end for the inconvenience caused by the delay. You're better of spending the money with another company or taking a public train or bus out there and reading on Wikipedia.

I was so excited for this trip. The guide was knowledgeable but I found it a little difficult to follow as she was translating in three languages. First it’s hot here and so I booked this “ac” coach for the ac. I found it to be no better or worse than the trains so not really a perk. Several of us were fanning the whole ride.
Once at the bone church you get about 10 min. Really didn’t need much more.
Then you are taken to the town where you visit the cathedral which is stunning. After this you walk into the town square area where there are only a few dining places where she tells you that you have 30 min to spend but it’s not enough time to really eat. Soooo. Maybe this is the standard but I was definitely not satisfied and then a very hot ride back.

We could not find an organised trip on that day we wanted to visit so we went by train. It turned out to be a nice and leisure visit.
We took the train, about an hour plus train journey, reached there around noon. Walked to the Bone church which is unique. Then we took a local bus, a few Km away, to the town centre. A rather quiet town and some shops were closed down. It gave us the feeling that the town was deserted. I guessed it was probably during the winter season. But a peaceful town. We liked it.
We walked to the Unesco site within the town area, St. Barbara’s cathedral. A beautiful cathedral built in the 14th century. Nice environment surrounding the cathedral. Wonderful.
We then took the bus back to the train station and caught the evening train back to Prague. A nice trip indeed on our own.

My family came from Kutna Hora two generations back so I was excited to see my heritage and I speak broken Czech. Our guide was an elderly man in a beige trench coat. Dont even remember his name. He pumped out facts like an audio book and really didnt embrace his audience. Worst part of the tour - needed bathroom break and he wouldnt stop for one until 1PM which was 4 1/2 hours after we started. Then he only gave us 20 minutes to find some lunch and he started walking away. He blamed it on the tour agency that he had to hit certain points on a schedule but never asked us if we were OK with the way too strict schedule. Then he spoke to bus driver in Czech complaining about our 'needs' and I could understand him.

David was our guide and he was excellent. He gave us as much information as possible in the time allotted. He does need to speak up a little and also perhaps slow down a bit. I didn’t always hear what he was saying. Nevertheless it was a very enjoyable trip and it was good to get out of Prague and a bit of the countryside. Kutná Hora is a beautiful part of the country.

This is a good tour. The places we visited are very much worth seeing and our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Our experience was marred, however, by the fact that the tour seemed unnecessarily rushed. Is there some reason I am unaware of that we had to rush back to Prague? Why not simply advertise the tour as lasting longer and allow us adequate time to explore by ourselves and to properly enjoy our lunch? The pizza in the place we were taken to was excellent but we were not able to enjoy it properly because we were only given 35 minutes before we had to return to the bus. (Yes, we did order immediately as advised.)
I see no reason that we had to be back in Prague for 3pm. I would have liked longer to enjoy my day in Kutná Hora.

Given the selfies and photos with the bones I think most people forget it is a crypt in a church they are visiting, and the bones belong to the dead and aren't Hollywood fakes...
We caught public transport out and walked 10mins from the station to Kutná Hora. The shuttle to St Barbary was on a break for "one to two hours" (he couldn't tell us how long he would be) so we walked, which is an easy walk until you get to the "old town" where it's a bit hilly and the cobble stones make walking a little more challenging. The church is fairly interesting architecturally with access to the second level gallery where you can see the reality behind the grandure of the organ. It was then a walk down hill to the station for the shuttle train to Kutná Hora and a change back to Prague (just make sure you have the right train ticket). Was a hood day trip out of the city but glad we took public transport rather than paying the hefty tour prices going around.

Took a trip to Kunta Hora and Barbara Cathedral on 9/1/18. It's a must see trip although the bone chapel has real bones all around it, it is fascinating and not ghoulish. The young guide, Aris was knowledgeable and entertaining and would recommend any trip he was leading, the little restaurant that we finished the trip in a definite bonus, pizza in 10 minutes filling and tasty and a coffee well worth the money and not expensive

Hello, may I know the exact departure point? I couldn't find in google where 'Yellow Kiosk' is located.
Written June 12, 2019
If you stand at the astronomical clock and look at the other corner of the square then you will be able to see the bus. So face the clock then look to the other side of the square.

What time does the tour return to Prague centre? Also, can we leave a suitcase on the bus whilst exploring Kutna Hora?
Written August 2, 2018
We did the tour that departs at 9.30am and we were back in Prague at 3pm.
It is the same bus all day so I don't see why you couldn't leave a bag. It is only a minibus though, so no space for a big suitcase.

Hi I’m wondering how long does it take from Prague to the bone church
Written July 19, 2018
I agree with the previous response. The town where the church is located is not far, maybe 30-40 minutes and the views are amazing. If you are adventurous it is an easy train ride too.
