We would definitely recommend On Yer Bike for anyone keen to explore some of the wineries around Hastings!

Very easy to arrange and easy to find, located just next to Ash Ridge winery. The bikes were clearly used, but we had absolutely no issues with their function, and were available swiftly on arrival in multiple sizes. There are 2 route options from their depot, and these were clearly explained using their map, which is provided. We chose the Bridge Pa triangle route, which included 5 vineyards and a cycle through the vineyards themselves.

There are no tastings included in the package (we didn’t expect this!), which we felt allowed us to be a bit more relaxed and spend time in the vineyards as opposed to rushing to get to the next one.

They also offered a free collection service for all the wines purchased to save us carrying them around in the basket, which made things much easier! On our return to the depot our wine was waiting for us, and they were very helpful in arranging some transport back to our accommodation.

An enjoyable day all round!

We had a good day riding our bikes around the Hawkes Bay wineries. Good bikes with baskets for personal things.
All the cycle paths are off road and therefore safe and hassle free. I would recommend the longest offered time frame as we had to rush at the end.
It was also very nice to have the bought wine picked up at the wineries, so we didn't have to drive them around.
I highly recommend taking an e-bike as it gets harder riding your bike after the second winery ;-)

Great fun and super easy to ride on the flat trails between the wineries.

The wineries along the way were all quite different, so gave a good mix of places to visit.

We bought wine at all of them and the bike place comes around to collect them so they don't rattle down the road in your bike.

Definitely a fun day out and minimal fitness required. Would be even easier on e-bikes but was so flat its probably not worth the extra cost.

Tour guide couldn't have been more helpful, helping us plan a route, collecting wine we purchased from the different vineyards for us to pick up at the end of the day and even offering us a lift back to our accommodation (since it was the end of the day and on his way!).

Bikes were good, and all the vineyards are within a short bike ride away making the tour highly accessible.

Only feedback would be to invest in bike mud guards, as it rained briefly creating a lot of mud which ended up on our backs curtesy of the back tyres =D

We booked last minute for 6 people including an 8 year old and we were accommodated perfectly. Bikes were comfortable and easy to ride, good bike for our young one and was able to keep up. We were provided a map and good advice where to have lunch etc.
Wine we bought was collected and waiting for us when we dropped our bikes back. Overall great family day out.

We hired the tandems for 2 x couples. We had a blast and the host of On Yer Bike was very helpful and even picked up the wines we purchased so that we didn't have to carry them back on the bikes.

The two wineries we visited were Oak Wineries and Selini both very helpful and generous with wine tasting. The platter at Ok was magnificent and they also took care of one of our party who is celiac.

Allow plenty of time if you want to do all the wineries as it is so easy to sit and take in the views whilst tasting to realise you have to cycle back quickly.

This was the second time I did this tour as a way to celebrate a joint birthday. I was worried it would not live up to my expectations from last time, but I can confirm it definitely did. First time I went I did the Gimblett route and it was rushed but we saw a lot of wineries and had a lot of fun. This time we did the Bridge Pa route and decided to take our time with it and see less wineries. One piece of feedback I would give is that it would have been nice if we had been told about the short cut on the Bridge Pa route earlier, as we might have planned to go to Sileni first after Ash Ridge. Cycling was easy for someone who is not great on bikes (I can confirm). We will be back! Thanks so much for the amazing weekend!

As per the title this company has a policy of including those in your party $20 who have their own bikes when you wish to hire one bicycle to go cycling the vineyards in this region. This is applied even when stating we do not want your tour notes, we know what we want to do. As a New Zealand citizen, I find this policy to be usuary, not a good look on NZ as a destination, Sorry to Ash Field winery if you are independant of the bike hire, we didn't stop to taste and buy a dozen that Te Awa got instead.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of On Yer Bike Winery Tours. We are sorry that you feel that the service you received was below par. However, we feel that you have misinterpreted the reason why we are in business. We are a bike hire company that offers people the facility to visit the wineries by bike. If one person in a group turns up with a bike and they hire the majority of the bikes from us then we charge a nominal fee that covers secure car parking, access to our route, collection of your purchases from the other wineries and assistance if you have problems whilst out cycling (notably help you repair a flat tyre) - all the services that come when you hire a bike from us. Turning up with your own bikes, parking your car in our private car park and expecting to follow our tour route for free is not what we are about. You didn't call and book a bike or talk to us about what you wished to do. If so we might have explained our situation in advanced - information that is clearly stated on our website. It must be said that all the wineries in the region only have parking for their patrons and not for people who wish to park and cycle off to another winery. There is a free car park at Roy's Hill reserve on State Highway 50 - which is also on the wineries trail - from where people with their own bikes can start a winery tour.

We booked as a group of 9 people. We had electric bikes & normal bikes. We had so much fun. Im not a big bike riding person but I managed to bike the whole way. We had a great lunch at one of the wineries & lots of tastings at the others. It really was a great day, the body was not even sore the next day! They also pick up all your purchases to give to you at the end of the day to take home. Awesome!

Today, we rented 2 bikes for a self guided winery tour of the Bridge Pa area. Not knowing how long we would take before tasting (and biking) became a blur (and unsafe), we paid for 3 hrs = $35 x 2 people = $70. Had a lovely time at Ash Ridge, Oak Estate and Ngatarawa wineries before very stormy weather hit so we returned to On Yer Bike rental after only 2 hrs. In that case, the bike rental cost should have been only $25 x 2 = $50 but they would not refund us. BAD! To add further insult, the rental location is on the site of Ash Ridge Winery...he could easily have offered us a couple of glasses of wine and still had a good profit margin and maintained some goodwill. Instead, I’m writing this message: bike renter beware and boycott Ash Ridge Wines. #dontscrewtourists
