Kudos to Lucy who was our (exceptional) private guide for 3 days in and around Nelson. She's very informative about the area and super fun to be with. The company was easy to work with and very professional. Tour #1 was a cruise, kayak and hike to Anchorage Beach in Abel Tasman NP. Very fun and well organized. Tour #2 was a long van ride out to spectacular Wharariki beach with a couple of interesting stops along the way. Thanks for the ice cream!

My wife, son, and I found the Abel Tasman day tour to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience thanks to our guide Lucy.

She was very informative about the flora, fauna, and customized the tour based on our needs. My wife gets motion sick and she was fine because Lucy drove very slowly and carefully.

We made good time on our 12 km hike and had time to spare at the end. So Lucy took us on a side trip to a nearby stream with a waterfall and water so clear that the rocks on the stream bed looked like they were on dry land.

Lucy engaged us in pleasant and informative conversation throughout the hike. A number of hikers not with the tour asked if they could stand with us so they could listen to her.

The views along the hike were spectacular. There were many lookouts down to pristine beaches with a backdrop of green forest. We crossed many beautiful streams that drain into the sea.

I have attached a photo of a Flycatcher which we took at the end of the hike.

It was the first , I had been to a National park. This national park is so beautiful. The guide knows in and out of the park. He can books on the part. He was very helpful and informative. He asnwered all my quiries. Moreover, If you ask him any question or if you want to any place in Nelson or in the closing areas. He will be at your service. They provided lovely breakfast and lunch. I would recommend people to avail services of this company.

Having only one day in the Abel Tasman area, we were glad that we booked a tour rather than trying to navigate this area on our own; the scenery was breathtaking. Noel provided informative commentary during our drive to Abel Tasman as well as during our water taxi ride and hike back to catch the taxi (note that the hike is not for the fair of heart as you do have to keep a decent pace and some areas are a bit steep and muddy). It was also great being with him because he knew just the right pace to do the hike in order to get back to the taxi pick up on time…not so fast that we were running along the way and then ending up on the beach waiting around and not too slow that we missed the taxi. We had many spectacular views along the hike and time for pictures and we encountered a school of dolphins on our water taxi ride. Not that it was a big deal but we were not picked up in a Mercedes nor did we have a gourmet lunch as was indicated in the tour description!! However, the vehicle that was used was fine and we did have snacks, a “bag” lunch and water along the way. There were also bathrooms on the water taxi and about half way through the hike! FYI...make sure to have a jacket on hand in the event the weather is cool as riding on the taxi can be windy and chilly and it's best to stay outside if you want to take in the scenery and wildlife.

The cost of this tour seemed a bit pricey but we did get a full day of touring with a very knowledgeable guide.

Hello Chartruse we appreciate your feedback and are pleased you enjoyed the tour. The Hyundai Elite you travelled in is now rated higher for safety than the Mercedes and is the best vehicle for 2 people. The lunch provided is of all fresh local Nelson produce and is packed in containers suitable for the guide to backpack in.

We spent two days with Zane Kennedy, the owner, with his spouse Elissa Menzies, of Wine, Art, & Wilderness tours. We are a party of 3 - a couple and our young-adult daughter.

The first day was spent on a beautiful, 12 km walk/hike along the coastline in Abel Tasman National Park. The scenery was beautiful, and Zane was happy to share all sorts of interesting information about the plants, history, and wildlife of the area. A packed lunch was provided and was very good.

Our second day was spent kayaking (2 of us) or fly fishing (1 of us) in the morning, and on a wine tour, including lunch at one of the wineries in the area, in the afternoon. WAW organized our morning activities and brought us to really unique wineries to make for a great afternoon.

Zane was very courteous, interesting, and extremely organized. He is a great conversationalist as well; not overbearing in any way and just easy to be around. Zane was an excellent guide and we would HIGHLY recommend WAW for your travel in the area.

Great day visiting the Abel Tasman National Park! Thanks for the fun, Lucy! It’s not just walking the area, so much to see and learn about plants. Lunch was good, but trying plants was a lot more fun.

Zane and Elissa are so easy to deal with! Our walk was cut short due to the abnormal weather conditions, but we still got to see natural rock features, stunning views, seals and pristine waterways.

We also squeezed in a few wine and beer tastings, and visited some local farming merchants which we would've missed during our short visit to nelson. The locals are so passionate and proud of their region.

It was truly an unforgettable experience - thank you so much for an awesome day.

Thanks for a great review Marie! It was great to have you out with us for the day, Abel Tasman is definitely still well worth a visit even if the weather doesn't play nice!

This is a super awesome tour. Beautiful views, an informative hike with tidbits of info about the plants, and a delicious homemade lunch. I was the only person who booked it on that day so I got to talk to guide Lisa a ton. We walked fast and timed the tides well so we could walk across a muddy bay instead of going around it saving us enough time to get to do a bonus wine tour, buy ice cream and take a scenic drive through a nearby town. The total hike would be about 12 miles if you have to walk around the bay, and there are some hills so make sure you are relatively fit before booking this tour.
