About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- vpmuscat0 contributionsFascinating, Educational and informative River CruiseWe thoroughly enjoyed our time on this river cruise, seeing the sights and learning some interesting facts and insights into the river and surrounds, the Captain and crew were very helpful and always welcoming, there was more than enough to eat from muffins for morning tea to Focaccia sandwiches for lunch followed be a cheese and fruit platter after, there was even a mini wine tasting, tea and coffee was included throughout and cold drinks and alcoholic were available as an extra, we would thoroughly recommend this river cruise.Written January 22, 2025
- Relax224545076430 contributionsRelaxing and informative cruiseHi all, I have just completed my 4 hour luncheon batman bridge cruise and I am so pleased to let yall know I had a thoroughly relaxing and informative cruise, our captain, Mr Callum is so kind and patient and let us know many little interesting facts about tamar valley, my only knowledge of tamar valley is the delicious yoghurt that our country imports:)), so when Mr Callum tell us interesting facts like who is who *, the famous environmentalist Peter Cundall, and the NZ actress Rebecca Gibney, used to reside in Tamar valley, we find very interesting indeed! The wildlife is also spectacular, like the white bellied goshask n pelicans in their very natural habitat, all in all, every penny will be worth it because, wine tasting n beer tasting and the gorgeous spread of lunch platter, makes it very wonderful experience, I like to extend my heartfelt thanks to The captain, JJ and team, for this memorable experience through the tamar valley, bridges, cataract gorge and the wildlife that you can spot along the cruise!Written January 3, 2025
- W5676WCchrisj0 contributionsRelaxing short cruise in the heart of LauncestonA quiet and gentle short (50 min) cruise to get the feel of the Tamar River, North and South Esk Rivers on Launceston's doorstep. The cruise starts with a toot of its horn and then turns in the pool of the North Esk, goes a short way up the Tamar to Kings Wharf, once the bustling heart of Launceston, now a shadow of its former self, then turns again to make its way up the cataract gorge with its towering dolorite walls. Although you are not able to get right up to the basin where there is a pool and chairlift over the river, you do get to see a fair bit of the gorge itself, the walkways either side and wave at the walkers. A good trip for families, less mobile people, or those short on time. Gentle and relaxing.Written January 1, 2025

Commentary on the journey very interesting and just the right amount. Afternoon tea and wine tasting added to the experience. - dominicsaviolee0 contributionsRelaxing cruise with great view and commentary - and Tasmanian wine and beer!My partner and I had an amazing time on the Afternoon Discovery Cruise along the Tamar River! It was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience, made even better by the beautiful Tasmanian wine and beer served on board. A huge shoutout to Callum and JJ, who were excellent captain and hosts throughout the cruise. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and had a great time. Their passion for the area really shone through, and it added so much to the overall experience. The views along the Tamar River were stunning, and the whole experience was the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Launceston. - allenpA7060CQ0 contributionsYes, well worth the experience. We went on this cruise on 3 Dec 2024 (couple) at 3:30pm It was well worth the time and low cost. We booked in advance. Duration 1 hour, went up the Estuary / Harbour, and then to the Cataract Falls. The Skipper was the guide, he was good - Thank you. There was recorded commentary filled in various places along the way. The Harbour was interesting and historic. The old Bridge was worth photos and the history. The Cataract Gorge was good to see and photograph. Yes, well worth the experience.Written December 10, 2024
- SarahG47700 contributionsEnjoyable CruiseLovely morning on the river, nice views and great commentary from Callum, though it was hard to hear at times. Morning tea was included, tea and coffee and a selection of cakes and fruit. Not always easy to see the views as passenger seating faces inwards. Cataract Gorge was a lovely ending to the cruise.Written December 6, 2024

- hannahsO733NO0 contributionsPeaceful cruise along the tamar riverA wonderful way to see the beautiful city of Launceston, the tamar wetlands, and the cataract gorge. I also loved the wine tasting as we passed the vineyards that made it and the skipper was very knowledgeable, pointing out four white-bellied sea eagles. We were tentatively booked to do the morning discovery cruise but were later advised that due to COVID-19 issues with cruise staff, and limited number of bookings for our day and time, the cruise would not be running that day. However, the company apologised for any inconvenience caused and advised that a longer cruise would be running later that week if that would still be suitable for us. Unfortunately we only had that one day in Launceston available so the company very kindly offered us a complimentary Cataract Gorge Cruise on our available day which we kindly accepted and very much enjoyed. The skipper was very friendly and knowledgeable and made the short cruise very interesting and relaxing. We are not unfamiliar visitors to Launceston but we certainly learnt a little more on the history of the place that we weren't aware of. At the conclusion of the cruise we kindly thanked the staff for their most generous complimentary offer but we had no hesitation in providing the full payment for the enjoyable cruise we had had and gladly paid up. We'll certainly plan to do one of the longer Tamar river cruises on our next visit to the city.

My mum and I went on the 50min cruise which goes on the North and South Esk Rivers and the Tamar River. It was interesting to hear and see the history of the area and the amazing formations in the gorge. Well worth it!

The commentary on board was very informative and comprehensive. Captain Stephen was knowledgeable. I would liked the cruise to have been a little longer. My only dissatisfaction was the unfriendliness of the cruise person in the office on the dock who found it hard to smile or make conversation.

This was a great choice to cruise the Tamar River for a quick boat tour.
The guide told passengers about a bit of the history of the area and proceeded into the gorge. It was only a short 50 minute tour but with the $35 charge.
This had good seating and was very interesting.

Lovely cruise on a cold but sunny late autumn day with excellent commentary by Chris. A must-do on a short trip and add on treks in the area and a chairlift ride across the gorge if you have more time to spare.

Regarding the Cataract Gorge Cruise, is it possible to get off the cruise to walk through the gorge and then catch a later boat back?
