We did the 4 hour luncheon cruise, which travels up into Cataract Gorge, then down river to the Batman Bridge and back.
We were lucky to get the seat facing outwards upstairs at the back of the boat, the pick spot on the boat. Going downriver, the Captain gives an extensive commentary, covering both history and environmental facts— it was light and informative. Also on the downward leg a wine tasting was conducted, with 3 local wines and finally a shot of beer. Coffee and tea and cakes were also included.
Coming back, a lunch of baguettes and Turkish bread filled with a range of goodies was offered, along with a cheese and fruit platter. The food was plentiful and tasty. Other refreshments could be purchased
The scenery along the river is very pretty, with a combination of inner city, outer suburban and small villages, plus varied agricultural vistas. Lots of different seabirds are seen along the way.
All up, a good introduction to the history of Launceston, delivered amongst beautiful scenery in a very smoothly run operation

A great way to spend a lazy 4 hours cruising from Launceston up the Cataract Gorge and Tamar River to the Batman Bridge and return. A friendly crew who were only too happy to help with a great commentary about the river, its environs and history. Plenty of hot coffee and tea (with 'nibblies') readily available all the way. A great light lunch also provided and recommend.
If you are looking for a different way to see the Tamar River and Valley instead of driving the roads, I can happily recommend this.

Delightful cruise on the very comfortable Tamar Odyssey vessel. Our Captain Callam was very informative and terrific at spotting wildlife. We saw 1 pair of only 7 pairs of sea eagles in the area. Saw lots of black swans with Cygnets. Toni, our hostess served a splendid morning tea with a huge variety of muffins, biscuits and fruit cake. She catered to many different dietary needs. The scenery was beautiful, just gliding by. Saw many historic buildings and homes with Callan advising us of the family stories matching the properties. Toni served a fresh light lunch, catering to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free amongst us. Local cheese and wine tasting too. Highly recommend this wonderful relaxing tour

The commentary was just right. Informative, interesting and delivered in segments along the way. We really appreciated the captain asking people to refrain from talking loud at the relevant time so others could hear the commentary. There was plenty of food for morning tea and lunch.

A lovely enjoyable, relaxing and informative cruise, together with a lovely luncheon. Extremely well organised with great commentary. We had a lovely group of people on board. So enjoyed cruising on the Tamar. We highly recommend this cruise to visitors to Launceston. The 4 hour cruise goes further and you see a whole different perspective from the river than when driving.

We did the 4 hour luncheon cruise which takes you all the way up to the Batman Bridge, and then into Cataract Gorge toward the end. We enjoyed this cruise and the scenery along the way. The Captain was very informative and provided us with the history of Launceston. He had plenty of interesting stories to tell, including one about Matthew Brady, a bush ranger who spent time hiding along the Tamar river. Lunch was good, and the boat itself is very comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our cruise along the Tamar river.

Enjoyed a lovely 4 hr boat trip with this company including a lovely lunch, limitless coffee, and some wine and cheese tasting. Only a small number of passengers on the boat in the current Pandemic climate, but lovely friendly group. The 2 staff were lovely and friendly. The skipper knew SO much of the history of the area and was so informative. Thanks for a lovely few hours

We just had to do this trip as we see the boat on the Tamar every day from our home. It was fantastic. Beautiful scenery from the water and we learnt a lot about the rivers history from Callum who gave a wonderful commentary and thankyou Gemma for taking care of the passengers with wine tastings and a a yummy lunch. Thoroughly recommend this cruise.

We did the 4 hour river cruise with lunch. This included a trip up the Cataract Gorge. The captain gave a description of everything of interest as we passed, including any wildlife that he spotted from the bridge. Lunch was excellent with plenty of sandwiches etc. The trip up the gorge was interesting and again the captain gave a full explanation of the history of the gorge.

It's a good way to see the area if you've four hours to kill. The skipper's talk is interesting and less corny than most. Lunch is sandwiches, and it's really a fine weather trip.
