We loved our visit to Audrey Wilkinson during our honeymoon. We had an intimate tour and tasting with two couples celebrating birthdays although we remained socially distances. Our guide was knowledgeable and very patient with all of our questions. We really enjoyed the picnic lunch and bottle of wine, and would recommend the picnic for anyone wanting to take in great views, wine and some nibbles.

Zac (spelling?) was fantastic and made what could have been a drab, rainy day dampener of a picnic, amazing. We were not only entertained by Zac’s witty humour but also informed of the wonderful wines on offer at Audrey Wilkinson and the interesting history of Audrey himself. We felt spoilt by Zac, and by the end of the tastings, we were all laughing and enjoying each other’s company before heading out to our individual picnics. Zac should be commended for turning what could have been a ruined experience by a rainy day into a laughter-filled fun event. I’m sure Audrey Wilkinson Winery feel proud to have such a dedicated and passionate employee.

This was a great experience. The young staff-member who led our tasting was friendly and explained the history of the company etc. The tasting took place inside in a museum, which I liked. Wines were great, and I think it was the best value for money of all the wine tastings that we tried in the Hunter Valley. The picnic was lovely, and you get to choose the bottle of wine you'd like based on the ones you tasted, and there was plenty of food. I also liked how the experience was organised; it was nice to have the balance of a guided tasting, but then time alone with my spouse to just enjoy the vineyards. At a few of the other tastings we went to at other wineries, we were hounded constantly by staff who were trying to make sales, so much so that we didn't even get to have a single private conversation at one tasting. I liked that this wasn't the case at Audrey Wilkinson!

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Unfortunately there just wasn't value for money in the experience though. $160 ($80 pp) for wine tasting and a tiny snack box with a bottle of wine for our picnic lunch!

The vineyards are beautiful, so I'd recommend just booking a normal wine tasting experience, buy a bottle, and spend your remaining $40-50 EACH getting a proper meal (and some...!) somewhere else! I mean, there was literally only 5 crackers in there with some lettuce, antipasto, a few pieces of dried fruit and a tiny biscotti.

Wouldn't recommend the picnic at all.

Dear Rinny. Thank you for taking the time to write to us during your recent visit to our cellar door. I am pleased to read that you found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. I take on board your feedback regarding the picnic hamper. I most say that most of our feedback in relation to the food is positive but I do take your feedback seriously and will share this with our food supplier. If you come back to the hunter in the coming months please feel free to reach out to me on e: brooney@agnewwines.com.au or m: 0429 032 953 and I will personally look after you. A great experience from start and finish. During our masterclass, Sophie was fun and knowledgeable. Although it was raining for our picnic we were able to sit inside, under the heaters whilst still admiring the gorgeous view and enjoying our delicious picnic. Such a relaxing spot.

by far best winery me and my mum visited on our trip, the host was lovely and the views are incredible. The most beautiful winery. A lovely experience i would recommend to everyone, even tho the day i went it was raining, we were able to sit on picnic benches to have the same experience. If this is out of your budget, i would highly recommend splurging on experiencing this or at least drive up to see the views because they are to die for!

Our group of friends arrived on time for our booking and were met with an uninviting host. We were advised to book two tables due to Covid limits of no more than 6, so it was surprising to see several tables of more than 6. Our host offered us table of 3 for the 7 or us and when bringing this to his attention, he told 7 ladies with a condescending tone to ‘relax everyone’ - this obviously didn’t bode well however a larger table was arranged and we felt to start over and give it a chance. Our first tasting was then poured by the same host and he then said “common we need to keep to schedule”. There was no recovery from that point. It’s not about personal taste as the wine was less than average, commercial and overpriced. You are paying for the view, which is indeed beautiful and if the service experience was pleasant you could possibly accept the wine quality.

Very interesting talk by an enthusiastic team member. The tasting was excellent. It really felt like they wanted you to be there and not just a chore to get through the day. The food was great - simple but good. I recommend to take a light cardigan or jacket - there's a bit of a cool breeze up there on top of the hill on the day we went. On a hot day though, definitely take a hat!

My boyfriend and I came up for the long weekend and were so pleased to have done the masterclass and picnic while we were in the area. The vineyard is stunning and the staff super friendly! Our tasting class was small and intimate; and our host Meg was very knowledgeable about all the wines and the vineyard itself. Would recommend.
