So this was a spur of the minute visit late in the afternoon after visiting Hahndorf so all the wine tasting sessions (or flights) were booked. However, they were still very accommodating and we got a seat under the pergola overlooking the lake and vineyards, which was a lovely view, and was offered wines to choose from. Instead of choosing the wine by the glass I chose to buy two bottles of the Sauv Blanc to "take away" and was encouraged to open one to drink there and then the remainder and the other bottle could go home with me. We decided to have the South Australian Produce Plate as well. It was a very congenial afternoon and my non-drinking husband enjoyed it as well. We had a nice chat with a couple at the next table. I found the staff very helpful and as a member of the Shaw and Smith wine club I had a very useful discount. Even without the discount it was cheaper to buy the wine here than at some of the bottle-shops on the Peninsula.

Beautiful surroundings amazing wines and Lisa who talked us through the wines was lovely. A must go when in the neighbourhood.

We stopped by here to wine taste on a rainy day. They are known for their white wines so we tried them. The Chard was a little too oaky for me, but the reisling was excellent. Bought some to have with dinner. Worth going to.

The male and female team members who looked after us were delightful. As we are traveling full-time, it is not always possible to leave the dogs at home so we had them with us, and particularly seeing as online it appears as though this place is dog friendly. It is our fault that we chose to go there on a day that was not perfect weather, but just be aware that there is no protection from the rain if you need to be outdoors. A small amount of money spent by the owners on some clear poly carbonate sheeting would easily waterproof a small corner of their expansive patio. The wine tasting was interesting and although the flight that we tried wasn’t all to our liking, it was really interesting and delightful.

So excited to finally make it to the cellar door of one of our faves and it didn’t disappoint! What a great setting with beautiful views. Easy to spend the afternoon lazily working your way through many delicious wines.

Shaw & Smith's Sauv Blanc is one of our favourite wines, so we were very much looking forward to a tasting on site, having traveled down from Qld. We hadn't made a booking as it was a Monday, and were turned away, despite there being empty tables, and the waiting staff not appearing too stretched. In addition, the man who greeted us was curt to the point of rudeness. If wine tastings are intended to endear the winery to prospective buyers and allow them to taste their wines, then neither goal was achieved for us today. We will not be going back. Instead, we headed the short distance to The Lane vineyards, who were busy, but who welcomed us in, and we spent a very enjoyable afternoon there.

Although the wine are of an high quality (like most of the area) I didn’t like the price for the degustation 20$ p/p not discounted from your purchases (other wineries charge 10$ and discount the price from your purchases) considering that in the Barossa they won’t charge anything or 5$ each is not very tempting. In defence the all degustation amount to 2 standard drinks but still I’m not browsing the hills to get drunk at the first winery. For me smaller servings and lower prices would be better.

Well organised winery and tasting. Our guide was thorough and engaging going through the wines. Pretty winery location fave wine here was the Sauvignon Blanc, yum!!! Thanks

We were extremely disappointed with our Single vineyard tasting experience on Monday 14th June 12.30pm with Harriet. She poured our wines and gave some cursory information about the whites then left us to it. We waited for quite a while expecting her to return but eventually had to call another staff member to provide some information about the reds we were trying. He went and got Harriet but she seemed totally disinterested that we were unhappy with her lack of attention. It did not appear that she was too busy with other customers but simply left the tasting area and went somewhere else. Needless to say we did not make our intended large purchase of wine from Harriet. What a waste of time. I expected better from this vineyard. p.s. we provided this feedback to the vineyard and were offered a voucher for a return tasting. However, no explanation or remedy was provided for the terrible service but rather a defensive responsive indicating that our expectations rather than her poor service were the issue- “Harriet is one of our longstanding team members with a great track record for service in the Tasting Room, and we are sorry to hear that you felt she did not meet your expectations”

Went here with friends for a wine and cheese tasting. staff gave us a great outline of the wines and cheeses. Good atmosphere. Good prices for the wines too

We are huge fans of Shaw + Smith SB - it’s our favourite Australian Sauvignon Blanc. So we were very excited to pre-book our visit and do a tasting. Unfortunately it was a disappointing experience - Very basic information was given as they poured the wines, and then we were ignored for the rest of the time! Being a Monday afternoon it wasn’t very busy and there were plenty of staff floating around. And then we were charged $20 each for the experience (not refundable against purchase). We were in the area early so popped into Nepenthe Winery across the road where we had a wonderful service and excellent experience.

A great wine flight, though a little more expensive than many of the others around. We did get a discount, though, when we bought a couple of bottles of wine. The location is superb, however, with views out over the vines and the dam. This is quite a polished experience, with friendly, knowledgeable staff

We agree that wine flights are great for tourists who are after a pleasant lazy afternoon, but we went to taste one particular wine in view of purchasing a case for our wine cellar. But we had to purchase a $20 wine flight to try one wine. Unfortunately, we had to leave without a taste.. and without a case! We were happy with our bulk purchase from snother hills winery 😁

We didn't book but they were happy to take us in. We all 12 if us did the $15 package. Tasting 5 wines. Great presentation. You actually were given a credit against a $80 , purchase on wines so best of both worlds. Over all very pleasant.
