About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- khbeard0 contributionsSailing on Lake Te Anau with an enthusiastic crewThis cruise was a highlight of our New Zealand trip! You cannot find a more dedicated and delightful crew than Adam, our captain, and Nina. In addition to the champagne/wine and canapes we learned the history of the 1935 boat, helped to hoist and then furl the sales, learned about the engine room while one in our group steered the ship, and generally had a beautiful cruise and then sail across the lake. I would highly recommend this outing and hope to bring more friends to sail if I am in Te Anau again in the future.Written March 11, 2024
- Getaway077085571230 contributionsA magical MYST DO trip! Don’t miss it!A truly magical trip. Adam and Megan were extraordinary hosts, both incredibly knowledgeable. Loved hearing about the history of Faith and how she made her way from Scotland all the way to Lake Te Anau. The scenery is simply breathtaking and the nature walk was fascinating. Fizz and food delicious too. This is a MUST do trip….and when you go, make sure you ask Adam to play his bagpipes! Just brilliant all round! Thank youWritten March 8, 2024
- Meander6896330 contributionsAmazing! Don’t miss this!Feel so lucky to have gotten to have this experience! Such a beautiful evening on lake Te Anau, complete with drinks, food and stunning views. Yummy snacks, Gluten free/vegan food options! Captain Paul and first mate Riley were so welcoming, approachable and knowledgeable. Great history of the area and the boat. The owner had great communication and it was such a thoughtful guest experience. Such a unique, beautiful time, the highlight of the trip! Would highly recommend to anyone!Written March 5, 2024
- 987kathrynk0 contributionsA must do if in Te AnauWhat an amazing trip. One of the best we have done. Adam and Megan are friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. This is a 11/10 trip that exceeded our expectations. The boat is stunning, the morning tea was impressive and catered for those with specific dietary needs. It's a small group tour which meant you didn't feel like another number. The walk to the hidden lakes was a lovely and easy walk so you don't need any specific walking gear apart from decent sneakers as it can be muddy under foot. If you can check the weather before booking an afternoon breeze is good as they put up the sails to sail back to the dock. Unfortunately, we had no wind so despite putting up the sails we had to motor back. Still, that did not detract from the overall experience. For those interested in a Celtic experience, if Adam is your captain, he will bring out his bagpipes to top off the trip.Written February 24, 2024

- agN9785KQ0 contributionsFabulous Faith Family FunUnique, personal and wonderful family fun! We arrived in Te Anau late afternoon and scrambled to find a boat trip for our family of six. We will be forever grateful that we found spots on Faith - an incredible highlight of our South Island trip. We loved the small size, the delicious food, the cold drinks, the fascinating history, the surprise bagpipes and the majestic beauty of Lake Te Anau. What made this trip extra special was the staff - Adam and Paul made our kids feel welcomed and even included. It was all hands on deck on the ropes and behind the wheel! The kids loved it so much they chose to use their pocket money on Faith t-shirts and hoodies. No bigger compliment! Thank you, Adam and Paul (and those behind the scenes), for an unforgettable experience!Written January 6, 2024
- Keith0630 contributionsA must during a Te Anau visitAdam and Megan took us on cruise across the lake and docked at a jetty on a remote and uninhabited shore for a short nature walk through the forest to a hidden lake. On our return we were treated to canapes and drinks on board. This was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The boat itself dates from the 1930's and has a captivating history that Adam tells with great engagement - the boat is clearly now his hobby and he has carried out much major work on the boat himself. Adam and Megan are lovely and knowledgeable hosts who made us feel very special.Written December 7, 2023
- GordonL11960 contributionsTop Te Anau ExperienceOur group of four (long term friends) booked a cruise on the lovely Faith with Adam and his team. The experience was absolutely fantastic, the crew were attentive , the scenery sensational. To top the trip off Adam piped us back to the wharf which was a lovely ending to a perfect day. Highly recommend this experience.Written October 19, 2023
- Navigate457064851180 contributionsMagical cruiseA truly magical and memorable evening cruise with lovely canapés and drinks. Really interesting to hear about the history of this amazing yacht. Adam the Captain (and owner) and Jason couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly. Then on top of all that Adam played the bagpipes as we headed back to shore which was extra special for my Scottish husband.Written October 10, 2023
- Sightseer497592369230 contributionsExceptional experience on Historic YachtWe loved our morningtea trip on the historic yacht Faith. The crew were attentive to every detail with relaxed personal service offering any drink you felt like throughout the trip. The individual platter of morning tea was delicious. Stunning scenery and interesting commentaries. ( real person commentaries not on a loud speaker!) So many amazing experiences in one morning; exploring the yacht, landing at the South arm of the lake, a walk through ancient forest to the hidden lakes, a swim off the boat, a turn at the helm or hoisting the sails. This trip was exceptional value.Written October 4, 2023
- M8506QRstevec0 contributionsA day trip to remember onboard the majestic MV FaithLast weekend we had a glorious day onboard the lovely old lady, the MV Faith. We all had a fantastic day thanks to Captain Adam and first crew mate Jason - thanks guys for your awesome hospitality and expertise. Behind the scenes Megan worked wonders preparing our food for the day - to all three of you - please accept our heartfelt thanks. The weather was looking inclement to start with, but we pushed on to have a fantastic day - it even ended up being dead calm at the end of the Southern Arm. Had exciting times being ferried about in the RIB tender, fascinating and majestic sites to see. Thoroughly recommended - will definitely do that again.Written October 3, 2023
- CGBassett0 contributionsEEEE! Exceptional, Exquisite, Enchanting Experience! While the food and drinks were so good, the scenery on the boat trip glorious, the bush walk a wonderland, it was the crew Adam and Jenni and the boat FAITH that added the X-factor.Written March 12, 2023

My wife Vivien and I arranged to sail on Faith after having our cruise at Milford Sound cancelled. What a great decision to sail on Faith. We were treated to an excellent morning out with sail to a quite cove where George took us ashore for a nature walk to a hidden lake. His depth of knowledge on the trees and fauna were incredible.Adam remained on board with a couple to entertain them and prepare our lunch before we came back. We had a fantastic selection of canopies and drinks.
I can't praise George and Adam enough for a wonderful morning out.
Well done and we wish you both well for the future.

Hi!!
I remember this trip well, even a year on. There was quite a bit of rain in Milford at that time :-)
Was really lovely to spend this time onboard with you, and share our little bit of Scotland with you.
Thank you very much for your kind words, and wishes. I’m actually onboard in the dining room right now out of uniform while George and our new trainee skipper Maree are running the boat. We’re being brave and continuing as if this global tourism slowdown isn’t affecting us too much, and really enjoying our domestic guests. There is a lot to be grateful for in our current state, and the weather is just delightful. So, we’re doing ok. Hope you’re faring well also, and would love to see you another time.
Till then, thanks again for being a special part of our memories onboard Faith, wishing you both all the very best!!
Cheers,
Adam, George, and Maree :-)

This has to be one of the best experiences in NZ! It combines nostagia, history, genuine hospitality from the crew, amazing scenery and much more! We had the pleasure of sailing with Adam and George who looked after us from start to finish, the sail across the lake savouring a chilled glass of wine to secret and secluded bays in the South Arm was a treat, the bush walk to Hidden Lake so special with George pointing out various things of interest in the rainforest. On return to Faith, Adam had afternoon tea waiting for us and we enjoyed a leisurely sail to another bay across glassy waters. All too soon the bow of Faith was pointing homewards and our ethereal time aboard had come to an end. For anyone wanting a unique experience with warm genuine people who really love sharing their boat and the paradise that awaits on the opposite shores of the Lake, don't miss this! We have travelled extensively over the years and this rates as one of the best tours we have done....ever! Thank you Adam and George from Glen & Jill.

Hi Glen and Jill,
Wow!! What a lovely review!! It makes me excited reading this, even as I’m onboard Faith right now!! We have a perfect day here for it, just as you describe. So happy that you had a great time with us, it’s a pretty special way to do life isn’t it?!!
I hope you’re both keeping well, and that you’ve had adventures since. It’s a special time to live in NZ and be able to travel freely with low numbers of people to compete with. Once in a lifetime perhaps!!
Wishing you both all the very best, hope you’re keeping well.
Cheers,
Adam, George, and the team from Faith in Fiordland

Even if the weather had not been as brilliant as it indeed was this was a real highlight of our short holiday in the south.
From the time George and Maree in their "naval" attire personally welcomed each individual, the cruise was so enjoyable and beyond any expectations we had.
George was a knowledgeable and humorous on board host who could not do enough for customers ,particularly when offering refreshments and the most brilliant canapes We also had a nature walk to the Hidden Lake and George then showed that he had a real interest in the flora and fauna which he was able to pass on.
Not often my wife and I give a maximum score as we have on this occasion.

Hi!!
It’s very thoughtful of you to have written this review, and with such kinds words. Thank you very much for choosing to come with us, and being part of memories that have been created onboard during Faith’s time in Lake Te Anau.
Maree and George do a wonderful job don’t they?!! We’re so lucky to have some pretty special personalities on our little team. It’s great to see George still passionate about learning more about the National Park at his stage of life, he’s unstoppable!!
Very happy that this stood out for you in your time down South, and thank you again for your support - and maximum score :-)
Wishing you both all the very best, and cheering for you on your next adventures :-)
Kind regards,
Adam, George and Maree :-)

We had a brilliant time being sailed across Lake Te Anau, stopping off for a beautiful short hike and then returning to delicious canapes and drinks back on the boat. Adam and Jackie were amazing hosts, sharing the history of the boat and teaching us how to steer and put up the sails. Their passion was contagious and the whole experience felt very luxurious! Thank you so much!

George and Marie made us most welcome on this well maintained historic yacht. George gave a wonderful insight into the history of his boat, from accomodating Winston Churchill to serving in the 2nd world War and its journey across the world to New Zealand.
Along the journey on the lake we were taken to waterfalls and sailed round the islands were we then disembarked and were taken through the lush green forest were George educated us along the way on the plants and fauna that inhabited the area. We visited one of the largest of the hidden lakes which was spectacular.
We were made very welcome on this trip, we were treat with delicious canapés and drinks. George encouraged us to explore the boat were we could admire the effort that has gone into restoring the yacht.
We would absolutely highly recommend this unique and personable trip.

My daughter and I spent a lovely couple of hours out on the lake on this beautiful old boat. It was the most enjoyable afternoon I have had in a long time. The food was lovely and Adam and Anna were excellent company and gave us the history of the boat and the bagpipes on the way back into the wharf were a perfect end to the trip.
We both thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone you won’t be disappointed

We had a most informative, enjoyable and entertaining cruise aboard Faith, skippered by Adam. Faith is a superb example of the Scottish boatbuilders craftsmanship, in the form of a gentleman’s motor yacht, lovingly and carefully restored in keeping with her heritage. The enthusiasm and competence of her crew is excellent: it was a joy to watch them handle departure and arrival in shifty winds that many would find challenging.
The nature walk was informative and interesting. Far enough to stretch the legs of the fit, short enough for the less mobile to manage.
To quote from Wind in the Willows: "There is nothing- absolutely nothing- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." - especially if involves something like Faith in Fiordland.
Definitely one of the best ‘value for money’ experiences.
Would we do it again? Hell, yes!

5/5 stars doesn’t do this experience justice! Totally brilliant from initial welcome onwards.
We were fortunate to sail on a perfect, cloudless, blue sky day, so it was a joy to remain on deck throughout, enjoy drinks from the bar and be regaled by (co-owner, I believe) Adam’s passionate telling of Faith’s history culminating in its restoration into service on Lake Te Anau.
After landing ashore for a really informative nature ramble to one of the Hidden Lakes, we reboarded Faith for the return leg to Te Anau and were served an outstanding afternoon tea along with further offerings from the bar.
During the entire three and a bit hour excursion (which felt a lot longer in a good way) we were all made to feel very special by the entire team and as I said to Adam, it felt like a privilege to have been granted access to such a unique experience.

At times you need to stop and check what is available in a destination. On our walk along the lake in Te Anau we noticed Faith at the wharf so did some research on what they provide.
We booked the afternoon trip and had a fabulous time. We were well looked after, from learning the amazing history of Faith, cruising Lake Te Anau, canapes and drinks to a walk to a hidden lake.
It was an amazing trip and we should have done it on our last visit, highly recommend.

What a primo trip we had on Thursday 10 March.
Skipper and Crew/Owner were delightful hosts.
No stone was left unturned and the degree of customer attention was second to none.
This is no ordinary touristy type jaunt.
This is an experience touching multiple aspects including hands on steering of Faith. Raising sails. Including the first raising of the Jib. Spectacular A bushwalk with knowledgeable guidance along the way by the Skipper. And an extensive one on one interaction of this interesting boat's history together with a close up tour of the large Gardner Engine below.
Capped off with a fabulous afternoon tea and complimented with an adept performance by Adam on the bow with the bagpipes.
This trip is a must do for Kiwis wanting to experience something a little different than just a cruise around a lake.

Hey!!
What a lovely review!! Thank you so much for taking time to write with such detail!! I love that you've noticed the things that we pride ourselves on, especial the customer attention. We've always aimed to ensure that anyone coming away from our experience feels that they've been treated as friends, not as customers. I'm so happy that you've felt this.
I really can't add more, other than thanking you for joining our cruise and being so involved. I remember this day well, with the first raising of the jib. We really appreciate your support, it's been essential to our survival over the last couple of years.
Looking forward to having you onboard next!!
Cheers,

Is it possible to cater for vegan options, and does the afternoon cruise include wine/champagne? Thanks

Not sure of the vegan option, but are very accommodating. Beer, wine, cider and soft drinks were all available, so champers more than likely
