We've enjoyed exploring our own backyard this year and our afternoon sailing across stunning Lake Te Anu on Motor Yacht Faith with Adam and Marie is by far our favourite experience so far. Adam and Marie were the perfect hosts and excellent company. Their passion for what they do is infectious. They shared interesting stories about the Faith and the local area, allowed us to raise the sails and steer the yacht, took us on a beautiful nature walk to discover a hidden lake, and served us delicious canapes with beer and bubbles. What's not to love! This trip deserves more than 5 stars - a real adventure and we would whole heartedly recommend it to everyone who loves fantastic scenery, incredible history and warm hospitality.

Good morning!! Thank you for your delightful review!! How special to read your kind words!! Glad you had a great time with us, and appreciated what we had to offer. We’re very spoilt to live where we do, and very spoilt to call this our day job. Thank you for helping to encourage others to come and join us, it means a lot given our current environment. Wishing you all the best, hope to see you again sometime!! Cheers, Adam, George, and Maree :-)

What a primo trip we had on Thursday 10 March.
Skipper and Crew/Owner were delightful hosts.
No stone was left unturned and the degree of customer attention was second to none.
This is no ordinary touristy type jaunt.
This is an experience touching multiple aspects including hands on steering of Faith. Raising sails. Including the first raising of the Jib. Spectacular A bushwalk with knowledgeable guidance along the way by the Skipper. And an extensive one on one interaction of this interesting boat's history together with a close up tour of the large Gardner Engine below.
Capped off with a fabulous afternoon tea and complimented with an adept performance by Adam on the bow with the bagpipes.
This trip is a must do for Kiwis wanting to experience something a little different than just a cruise around a lake.

Hey!! What a lovely review!! Thank you so much for taking time to write with such detail!! I love that you've noticed the things that we pride ourselves on, especial the customer attention. We've always aimed to ensure that anyone coming away from our experience feels that they've been treated as friends, not as customers. I'm so happy that you've felt this. I really can't add more, other than thanking you for joining our cruise and being so involved. I remember this day well, with the first raising of the jib. We really appreciate your support, it's been essential to our survival over the last couple of years. Looking forward to having you onboard next!! Cheers, Adam, and the team from Fiordland Historic Cruises :-)

George and Marie made us most welcome on this well maintained historic yacht. George gave a wonderful insight into the history of his boat, from accomodating Winston Churchill to serving in the 2nd world War and its journey across the world to New Zealand.

Along the journey on the lake we were taken to waterfalls and sailed round the islands were we then disembarked and were taken through the lush green forest were George educated us along the way on the plants and fauna that inhabited the area. We visited one of the largest of the hidden lakes which was spectacular.

We were made very welcome on this trip, we were treat with delicious canapés and drinks. George encouraged us to explore the boat were we could admire the effort that has gone into restoring the yacht.

We would absolutely highly recommend this unique and personable trip.

We had a really lovely time sailing on Lake Te Anau on "the Faith" for 3 hours. It's a beautiful old restored boat, that is scenic in itself never mind the fantastic scenery in and around the lake. The crew were professional, very friendly, informative and George especially, a delight. Afternoon and drinks were very generous and tasty. Highly enjoyable, highly recommend and worth every penny. Thanks guys!

What a fantastic afternoon adventure . Adam and Bec were the perfect hosts. Beautifully turned out in nautical gear, their experienced, friendly and attentive service made for a wonderful trip. I thought the weather might affect our trip but the Faith gave us a smooth cruise up Lake Te Anau and round to the dock for a walk into Hidden Lake. Our bush walk was enhanced by Bec’s knowledge of the flora and history of the area. Info when we needed it and space to absorb this beautiful part of NZ. Adam has some delicious canapés waiting for us and another glass of Pinot Noir. Breathtaking nature and faultless service. Even got to see the engine room and have a steer of the boat on the way home. Big smiles of happiness. Go check it out. Thank you

Cruising on lake Te anau was such a lovely experience. We were made most welcome by George and Marie ton arriving and throughout the afternoon. George gave us an informative chat about the history of the boat and an interesting commentary on the bush walk to the hidden lake. Marie gave an interesting explanation of the engine. We were offered a wide range of refreshments and an individual platter of fresh, lovely presented food. I would highly recommend this trip.

Fantastic trip with George and Marie on MY Faith... Would highly recommend this trip if you want to experience the amazing scenery, environment, walk to hidden lake, high tea like afternoon tea and just all round awesome time spent with an awesome crew. Thank you George, the privilege was ours - worth every minute and every cent. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge and love of the surrounds.
Definitely not a cookie cutter tourist trip. Totally NZ experience.

Even if the weather had not been as brilliant as it indeed was this was a real highlight of our short holiday in the south.
From the time George and Maree in their "naval" attire personally welcomed each individual, the cruise was so enjoyable and beyond any expectations we had.
George was a knowledgeable and humorous on board host who could not do enough for customers ,particularly when offering refreshments and the most brilliant canapes We also had a nature walk to the Hidden Lake and George then showed that he had a real interest in the flora and fauna which he was able to pass on.
Not often my wife and I give a maximum score as we have on this occasion.

Hi!! It’s very thoughtful of you to have written this review, and with such kinds words. Thank you very much for choosing to come with us, and being part of memories that have been created onboard during Faith’s time in Lake Te Anau. Maree and George do a wonderful job don’t they?!! We’re so lucky to have some pretty special personalities on our little team. It’s great to see George still passionate about learning more about the National Park at his stage of life, he’s unstoppable!! Very happy that this stood out for you in your time down South, and thank you again for your support - and maximum score :-) Wishing you both all the very best, and cheering for you on your next adventures :-) Kind regards, Adam, George and Maree :-)

We did the 6pm Cruise and George and Adam were absolute gentlemen from the get go. Dapperly dressed in Naval uniforms they greeted us aboard, safety notices dispensed with it was time for bubbles (delish). A short cruise to Brod beach and wonderful canapes were served. Time to return and sails hoisted. Next multi talented Adam brings out the Bagpipes and serenades us. A fantastic journey highly recommended to all.

The Captain and First Mate in full uniform greeted us. I thought "oh this is going to be a stuffy time". Boy was I wrong. Captain Adam and First Mate Rebecca (and eventually Owner George) made this our most favourite tour of our first 3 weeks in New Zealand. The whole trip was very laid back. Every question was answered. I love old boats so this 1935 sailing vessel (Faith) was a real treat. And Adam shared the whole history of Faith from it's first days in Scotland and how it ended up on Lake Te Anau. He even gave us (at our request) a tour of the engine room. By the way the entire vessel was available for us to see without anyone watching over us. Rebecca and Adam were first class hosts but super friendly. Unfortunately there was not enough wind to sail but that did not stop Adam from trying. I especially appreciated the time he spent showing a 10 year girl how to drive the boat and then letting her drive the boat all the way back to the dock. Adam and Rebecca (and Faith) made this such a fun afternoon. Thank you

Hi!! Phew!! I’m glad we didn’t turn out to be too stuffy!! Ha ha!! We always wanted our experience to be classy, but very relaxed and informal. We felt this was appropriate as a little nod to Faith’s construction, the service she’s provided over the last 85 years, and some of the people who have cared for her before we took her on as our project. Glad you liked it, and that you gave us a chance :-) We love sharing her with our passengers, and especially kids. I had a really different appreciation for being involved in experiences after visiting historic structures in Europe, and made me realise why being able to walk free and explore is such a novelty here. Thanks again for such a balanced review, really lovely to read your kind words. Wishing you all the very best, Adam, George, and Rebecca :-)
