- williambG4383UT00Amazing dayGreat day trip with Trips & Tramps! Geoff was a knowledgable and entertaining guide. He knew of all the right stops on our trip and provided insight to the country, people, wildlife and terrain. The Milford Sound boat cruise was stunning. We highly recommend this tour! Well worth it!
- leseydamo00Best experience ever!!John was incredible we had the best day of you are going to do Milford sound so this tour - so glad we stayed in Te Anau and then did this tour it’s was a small van we got to stop and see the sights along the way also hear so much local knowledge - very grateful to have John take us Around - thank you again I will be recommending this tour to everyone!!!
- kathaleenr202000Full day trip to Milford Sound with walks.Very enjoyable day to Milford Sound. Jeff made the trip interesting and entertaining with his knowledge and fun stories. The lunch provided was excellent. The cruise was also great. We loved being in a smaller boat that got up close to the wildlife and waterfalls.
- 806viennab00Great tour and guideGreat tour of Milford sound with a guide who was so knowledgeable about the area and very involved in local conservation. For quite a big day out he kept it engaging the entire time with lots of stops and walks around the area.
- bott2300Amazing Day & ExperienceWhat an amazing day! John, our guide, was incredible! Not enough words to describe how good John was and he made our day. We all collectively said that he was the best guide we have ever had. He made us all feel welcome, pesonalised the tour, was great with the kids and super knowledgeable on the area. Just made for the perfect day. I would recommend anyone use this company and John for their tour of the area. Make sure you ask for some Manuka tea!
- brodiec11700Go see the Milford Sound with Jeff!!Jeff was an absolutely fantastic tour guide and made the whole day spectacular! He was super friendly, genuine and had a deep understanding of and personal connection to the local area which allowed us travellers to gain a huge insight to the history, ecology and modern significance of the area. 10/10 would recommend. Also, if you are looking at staying in Queenstown, you should definitely base yourself in Te Anau to explore this area instead. You'll get so much more out of the day and reward the local townships that go above and beyond to showcase their areas. We were very fortunate that the weather was superb, we were able to see dolphins, penguins and seals on our cruise of the milford sound and Jeff stopped at heaps of spectacular views along the way. The packed lunch was also really yummy - chicken wrap, apple and some sweet slices from the local bakery. So good!!
- N-A R00Fantastic excursionJeff our tour guide was brilliant! We had a fantastic day and really pleased we booked with Trips and Tramps. Communication was good, commentary (and dad jokes) throughout the day were on point, the boat trip was so scenic, the cakes provided with lunch were delicious, and Jeff stopped at different places for us to get out and take pictures. Recommendations for what else to do in Te Anau also given. 10/10. Note: Don't forget to wear rain gear! The waterfall will get you wet if the weather doesn't 😅 Maybe I'm just used to large portions, but lunch could have included another wrap or something as I was still a bit hungry.
- Erin B00Fabulous experience in Milford Sound! We had a fabulous time (with John as our guide) on our Milford sound trip! He was really accommodating of the different groups’ needs/ requests for walks, picture-taking moments and shared fun stories about the area. He made great recommendations for Te Anau after the tour too! The cruise and drive down were amazing- we had some rainy/misty weather- but it was still gorgeous. Definitely bring rain gear!
- Pat_C31600Best companyThe photography workshop instructors have chosen Steve Norris, Trips and Tramps, to be the driver/guide for the 10 day New Zealand workshop for several years. Steve is excellent at making the drives between locations comfortable, knowing when coffee breaks are needed on cold days, knowing where the good cafes are for lunch stops, etc. He is very knowledgeable about the South Island geography and history, providing commentary along the way. Very helpful, highly recommended.
- D4995GVcharlottes00Absolute phenomenal day, couldn’t recommend this tour more!!Even in winter, this tour was AMAZING. I was tossing up between this one and others, but i am so glad i chose Trips & Tramps. Our tour guide, Andrew, made the entire experience so comfortable and interesting. We made many stops on the way to and from Milford sound, seeing incredible lakes, mountains, snow, and also did many short walks with incredible views. It was the perfect amount of stops and made the journey feel incredibly quick. On our cruise we saw penguins and dolphins, and got to go underneath a waterfall. The lunch provided was more than suitable, and there was complimentary hot drinks on the boat. Timing was immaculate, departing right on 8am and arriving back at 4:30pm. Can’t reccomend this company, this tour, our our tour guide more. We had a phenomenal experience.
- barbaradR3291HN00I would like to do it again with SteveSteve Norris, the CEO of Trips & Tramps, was our guide for a 10-day photo workshop. He is very knowledgeable about points of interest for photographers. He is also personable and compassionate when extra help is needed. He allowed me to do more than I could have done without his help. Oh, he also knows the good places to stop for lunch—a great buddy and guide to have for your dream trip to New Zealand.
- Fritza7400Stunning scenery, gorgeous wildlife with an informative fun and caring guideWe got so much more than we expected on this fabulous day trip. We had a private tour with the most fantastic guide. The car was very comfortable and clean and felt safe for our family on the winding icy roads. Andrew was amazing, he stopped off at extra places we didn’t even know about. We saw stunning scenery at Mirror Lakes and interacted with the playful Kea birds at Monkey Creek. A highlight for my son. We were escorted through the busy terminal at Milford sound making the cruise easy to find. We enjoyed a lovely walk after around the foreshore. Andrew even arranged for a scenic helicopter ride to a glacier. Something we didn’t think we could do due to the foggy weather in TeAnau on the day. But the skies were clear in Milford Sound and we had the most amazing experience. We cannot thank you enough for this special day. Love Love Love Trips and Tramps.
- Karen M K00FantasticWe had a lovely time and Jeff/Geoff 🤷🏼♀️.. was an amazing guide! He stopped all along the way and on our return journey ! We enjoyed the ride more than the Milford experience 🤭. Jeff really did make the trip, careful driver and considerate and Knowledgeable!
- mirandadX9938ON00Amazing day trip! This trip was so much fun, and I would highly recommend doing the full day excursion! We did several hikes through the Fiordland National Park, while learning about local wildlife from our host. Our host also had arranged everything with our cruise and lunch, so it was really nice and convenient to not have to worry about any of that. By not having to drive in ourselves, we were free to enjoy the views along the way. We stopped a number of times at scenic lookouts as well to take pictures, and we had an up close encounter with a couple of adorable Kea birds! Definitely do not miss this experience!
- KevinRamp00Had a great timeMillford sound was absolutely gorgeous, even with it being so rainy. Reece was and excellent driver and guide, I'm grateful we had someone else driving. It would be a tough drive if you don't know the area. We had a wonderful time

A local, family-run company offering a more intimate and tailored experience. Our guides Reece and Ro were informative and made each of our tours all the more enjoyable. The company was adaptable and responsive to changes in weather and our requests. Hope to be back soon to do the Kepler Heli-Hike with them.

My husband and I did a walk with Trips & Tramps today and we loved it!! Shoutout to Ro & Kate - in spite of the weather, they made adjustments and took care of all aspects of our trip to make it an enjoyable, educational and fun day. We were part of a group of 13, but they made it like we had our own personal guides. We highly recommend doing a tour with this company.

We did the one-day Routeburn track recently with Jeff and Ty Se (apologies for any errors in the spelling). It was an amazing experience and wish we had done the other one day experiences they offer too. Most outstanding was that both the guides have strong connection to the Fiordland and therefore the knowledge and passion they shared enriched our experience so much. They were both very friendly. Really patient with some of us who were slower trampers. Jeff is an amazing story teller. Loved the stories of the Venison wars:)

Amazing trip with walks in 3 different landscapes and including a Heli hike! Breakfast and packed lunch included.
Trips & Tramps catered for everyone - different walking fitness levels and the local guides were just lovely- sharing the knowledge and differing perspectives.
The views were absolutely amazing! High alpine regions, temperate rainforests and of course incredible fjords, waterfalls and tarns. We got to see the amazing Kia parrots up close too.
Cannot recommend this trip highly enough. Accommodation was really comfortable and could walk to amazing restaurants for dinner - perfect!

We had a very wet day but learned how this could enhance our Fiordland experience! We didn't get to Key Summit because of the weather conditions but Anya substituted a longer alternative walk and a nature walk. Anya was wonderful, very personable and very knowledgeable and made us appreciate the rain! We saw lots of birds and enjoyed the explanations of the local flora, trees and ferns.Everything well organised by Trips and Tramps. Thanks Anya!

Hi, thanks for your review! The Routeburn Track Key Summit walk is great in all weather - even if the weather prevents good views. There is so much to see in the incredible rain forest.
Safe travels.

Picked up from our accommodation in a minibus by a very knowledgeable driver/guide and driven to Milford Sound via Mirror lake, and the Homer Tunnel. Interesting landscape along the 'longest no through road' in the South Island of New Zealand! Arrived in Milford just in time to catch the 'Wanderer' - the name of he boat we were on. We were dropped off at the boat terminal if you drive yourself the car park is some distance from the boats! Tickets were handed out and packed lunches (included in cost) were also given to us. We were picked up again at the end of our boat cruise and taken back to the stop point for an unguided accent to Key Summit (part of the Routeburn track - full track is a 3 day walk) - or if you didn't fancy that you could stay on the minibus and then undertake a guided nature walk. We were then picked up 2+ hours later for our return to Te Anau after a tea/coffee/biscuit snack was offered (included in package). We were again dropped off at our accommodation. An excellent day trip without all the hassle of driving and negotiating Homer tunnel which is a narrow single track 1.5 km tunnel controlled by traffic lights which was certainly an experience in itself!

Thank you for traveling with us. It is wonderful to hear you enjoyed the whole experience and found the variety of walking opportunities we offer to your liking! Yes the Homer Tunnel is an experience, can you imagine building it? Would have been pretty tough as that is some of the hardest you can get!

Hi, thanks for posting your review, we're glad you had a good day. It's nice to be able to get into Howden Hut if there is time during the day, it provides a lovely contrast from the heights of Key Summit, and is a classic Department of Conservation Great Walks Hut. Nice and cosy with the fire going at night I'm sure!

Muchas gracias
