    Awesome private tour
Simon and Emma organised a wonderful day out to visit Lake Wanaka, Cardrona and Coronet Peak. They are such a lovely couple and it was like we were out with friends. They did so much to make sure we saw places we wanted to see and then more. Scenery was breathtaking, beautiful memories made that day and all of it captured with stunning photography by the talented Simon and Emma. They organised a lovely lunch for us, which we insisted they share with us ,on a beachfront on Lake Wanaka. Great conversation's. What a wonderful way to spend our wedding anniversary. Simon and Emma we will be forever grateful. Thank you so much.

    Once in a life time!
This was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had in my life. Simon was amazing guide, knowledgable, friendly and was hugely accommodating. The star gazing and subsequent photos were breathtaking -once in a life time, hugely recommended.

    A magical night!
WOW.. This was a magical tour, with great guidance from Simon. The starry sky from the Coronet Peak was just amazing! The stories from the Māori perspective, and the alignment with other cultures is very interesting. Now I want to learn so much more — and am even thinking about getting myself a telescope. :-) We received the photos the day after, and they were beautiful. A great memory from this very special night.

    Best highlight of our trip
My partner John and I thoroughly enjoyed the stargazing experience with Simon. It was a memorable night under the beautiful night sky as Simon shared about astronomy and Maori legends. It was truly a night to remember, and we highly recommend this trip!

    Discover ...without distraction!
So often as solo travellers our time leading up to the trip is spent planning for it and after arrival it's a battle between wanting to enjoy ourselves but also capture the experience. Authentic As is your answer to that dilemma! I stumbled across Simon and Emma's website while I was working on my South Island itinerary. Despite all my years in Aotearoa, I had spent more time visiting overseas locales than I had our gorgeous Te Waipounamu. It's easy to push things in your backyard further down the bucket list isn't it? But with an imminent move to Australia coming, I knew I had to make the most of my time. The initial email exchange with Simon and Emma instantly put me at ease. They understood my desire to enjoy the day without having to whip out the phone for selfies lol. Ofcourse the day itself was absolutely memorable - really appreciated how organically our plans unfolded based on the light conditions and the spots I was enjoying. Simon spared no efforts in making sure that I not only got to enjoy the natural beauty around us, but also that he captured those moments for me, so I could remember them by. Thanks to Authentic As, I got to discover all sorts of spots - underrated and well loved that day. And I have to mention that I was wholly unprepared for Emma's fabulous picnic - what an absolute treat! After a wonderful day out, Simon made sure to send an initial set of pics out to me so I could share the excitement of the day with friends and family (despite having a very early start the next day for a community event I must add). Soon after that Simon shared the full photo package as well - what an absolute delight it was to re-live the stunning day turning to dusk turning to night. The transition had been magical to experience in the first place and getting to see it all over again was a gift <3 Queenstown and its surrounding locales are so gorgeous, it'd be a shame not to let yourself be fully immersed because you are distracted by the desire to capture your memories on camera. I never took out my phone once to click pics during the trip; I didn't have to do any planning; I thoroughly enjoyed my day ...what more could one ask for? As Simon likes to say... "let me do the hard work!" :)

    Unique Experience
This was by far the best experience in Queenstown! Hand on heart can say this experience is a must do in NZ if you are into star gazing and enjoy photography. AuthenticAs truly go above and beyond to curate something specially for you. We witnessed magic during our star gazing tour and the photoshoot was by far the best. It never felt that we met them for the first time as they instantly put us to ease for the photoshoot and the stories about our solar system was truly beautiful and unique. I would recommend them to everyone in a heartbeat. Thank you Emma & Simon for giving us memories that we will cherish forever. Your passion and skills made it possible to give my partner the ultimate surprise. We are truly grateful to you!

    Special Day
We booked Simon based on other reviews, and we were not disappointed - both my son and I had a great day! Would highly recommend planning your adventure with Simon so that you can create an experience of a lifetime. A bonus of touring with Simon is that he is a great photographer! (the photos were provided to us after our tour and could easily be downloaded). Would highly recommend and looking forward to the next adventure!

    Lovely friends
we were suddenly changed our plan and look for some photography trip...found out that TOP & Back this package really worth to do. Simon & Emma will spot you out the unforgettable photo shooting point and do a tour along the trip with 6 hours, at the middle a picnic lunch was provided which was very good taste. Last but not least, if you really have spare time with perfect weather, definitely suggest to join this tour as Simon & Emma will try their best to show as much as wonderful view they can with professional knowledge.

Our tour guide, Simon, has a degree in astrophysics and is extremely knowledgable.
My husband and I appreciated his patience in explaining complex concepts in layman terms. We also liked how Simon payed homage to New Zealand's Māori heritage.

Simon made us feel comfortable and took memorable photos of a gorgeous night sky.
We were lucky and experienced the Southern Lights, Aurora Australis.

Experiences like this make one feel connected with Nature, and humbled by how beautiful the Universe is.

We truly enjoyed this experience and would high recommend this tour.

Simon took us on an amazing tour to view the southern skies. We were so lucky to get a break in the cloudy weather that had been covering the area for many days, and saw all the stars so clearly. His explanations and use of binoculars and a telescope to point out special sights was such a great addition to just a photography tour!
Simon spent time showing my husband how his personal camera could capture similar images and that was an extra touch that was highly appreciated as well.
Remember to wear layers!! We did not wear enough and were quite cold despite showing a brave face. Simon saved the day with some additional jackets he had available. Even then, it was still quite cold in early March!

Emma and Simons star gazing tour is a must during your Queenstown visit. Seeing Saturn up close for the first time was mind blowing, and learning about how the constellations and planets tie in with Maori culture was fascinating. A huge bonus to the experience is having some beautiful family photos to remember the tour. Next time we visit Queenstown will definitely arrange another star tour.

Emma and Simon were the perfect hosts. Emma prepared hot drinks and snacks for our frosty journey through the cosmos. Simon combined his training in astrophysics with his knowledge of Māori heritage together with a high tech digital telescope view of the night sky opening up the awesomeness of creation around us. This is a must see life experience. Do yourself a favour.
