We had a great day - really well organised, staff were really friendly and the information/map provided regarding the route were great. The scenery is spectacular! The bikes were really good - I went for an electric bike and my partner a non electric and both were brilliant (although I think he regretted not picking an electric bike by the end!)

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this day trip and thought it was an amazing way to see the area that you may not otherwise get to see by vehicle. As this was a self guided tour, we were able to take our time and stop as many times as need for photo/toilet/lunch breaks. The route was very well marked and we opted for the e-bikes in case we needed a little boost through the day-long ride (very handy for up-hill). I would say that there are a few turns and slopes that you need to be careful on so basic bike riding skills is key and also just common sense.

Was taken to Arrowtown by shuttle and had all day to cycle back to Queenstown, adding excursions to vineyards and Lake Hayes. I hired an electric bike which was a delight and made the ride pure enjoyment. Scenery absolutely stunning. I compared several bike hire companies and these guys were definitely the most informative, accommodating and best value.

A great experience from start to finish. You’re driven to Arrowtown and briefed. The briefing was clear with some humour thrown in to engage and make the messages stick. The bikes were good and the scenery absolutely beautiful. If you’re not used to undulating cycling rent an e-bike ( most people do).

Wow! These guys have got a reputation for being the best in the business and its clear from our experience today why that is. Super efficient, super friendly and helpful, plus great bikes (we hired ebikes).
We haven't mentioned the cycling experience yet..! Outstanding, exhilarating, beautiful, great fun, well maintained tracks, NZ at its best.
Must give a shout out to the various agencies and groups who have had the vision and commitment to deliver a world beating cycle experience. I understand that the project will be 500km (five hundred!) of linked cycle tracks from QT to Dunedin. Love it!

This is our second time with Around the Basin.
We elected for four electric bikes, shuttle to Arrowtown and ride back.
Our bikes were all ready on arrival in the morning and we took a shuttle to Arrowtown with a very informative and entertaining driver. At Arrowtown, we were given some safety and direction instructions and sent on our merry way with maps.
We followed the suggestion of riding around Arrowtown to get some food and to warm up with some pies.
Then off down the Trail. To cut along story short, we rode the length of the Trail past Gibbston (for a yummy lunch) then back, past AJ Hackett, then to Frankton, finally to back to the shop in Queenstown.
Total over 60km and 6 hours - great day, tiring, never ran out of charge and the nikes were great.
Some annoyances - horse riders on the track (where they are not supposed to be) and family groups (who leave their bikes in the middle of the track to take some photos).
We would definitely use Around the Basin again. We possibly wouldn't go all the way down to Gibbston in a day, although it can be done (we are a fit cycling family, however).

Where do I start ? The advice from Lisa and Louise was invaluable, the E-bikes are incredible, the scenery simply the best and the entire trail experience was a "must do". We had 6 in our group, none had biked for years but we found the 35km ride absolutely do-able and really enjoyable on the e-bikes. A great day out with a wonderful lunch at the BoatShed Cafe on the way into Queenstown.

Excellent! This was my favorite activity out of our entire honeymoon. The bus dropped us off in Arrowtown and we made our first stop at a delightful cafe before hitting the trail, which was a bit of a rougher ride than we thought based on the website. We were under the impression it was going to be a leisurely ride, but it was rather challenging and more of mild mountain bike riding. There were several older couples that we passed that had given up due to the challenging nature of the ride, and there were more than a few times I opted to walk the bike up the hill due to the blind spots around the corner. The views are incredible and well worth the ride! Make sure you go down to Cargo, as that was our favorite spot out of the wineries/breweries. The staff was wonderful in picking us up there instead of the designated spot at the end of the day.

So much fun - the scenery was unreal. We did get really sore bums, fully recommend padded tights as the seats are really hard for biking for a day! But no complaints here - the staff were super lovely and we had great fun being athletes on our E-bikes which I 100% recommend. It made our experience so much better given we weren’t exhausted at the end of the day. Left the drop off point at around 9:45am and got back to Queenstown around 2:00pm. We stopped off at the kawarau bungy and did a zip line and had some lunch before continuing on our way. It was amazing!

Thanks for the great review - great to have you on our Arrowtown to Queenstown ride. You guys fitted in a lot considering you made it back by 2pm. Great effort - our e-bikes are a blast. We do have some gel seats, so if you do this ride again just ask as sometimes with a busy morning of briefing various riders the gel seats are not on the teams mind! Cheers :)

Great service - Hywel drove us to Arrowtown and recommended us some cafes to start us off as well as giving us a debrief on the route and providing us with maps. The bikes were both really well looked after and good quality. The ride itself was absolutely beautiful with options to make it longer/ more challenging. We extended out to the Kelvin Peninsula (as recommended by Hywel) and it was well worth it. Definitely use these guys if you’re wanting to do any riding in the area.
