I really enjoyed seeing so many specific locations from the movies. The booklet helped a lot to see the specific locations used. Also, Ruth was an absolutely amazing tour guide and fangirl that was full of more information and enthusiasm than I could have ever expected! And I enjoyed even the slightly cheesy bits like putting on costumes. Highly recommended!

I loved it. I got to see where several scenes in LOTR were filmed, like where Gollum, Frodo, & Sam ate food and where Boromir felt tempted by the ring. I also saw the place where Aragorn fell and the forest where Boromir was killed. I saw where Prince Caspian was filmed, the scene when prince Caspian rode across the water while fleeing from his uncle’s soldiers. It was surreal. I watched prince Caspian again & I was so excited because I recognized that I was there. I highly recommend this tour. Our tour guide took us up close to see the prince Caspian scene & it was wonderful.

Overall - it's an expensive tour to essentially be driven from Queenstown to Glenorchy. You look at scenery and imagine the movie being shot there. I don't think you need to pay NZD245pp for that.
Positives - Ginny our guide was excellent, friendly, conversational throughout and gave us interesting info on the making of the movies. She made an effort to keep us engaged and look after the group. There's also bits of other movies shot as some of the scenes too. There's a few prop swords and capes to play with.
Negatives - it's basically a scenic drive with commentary. I think you could spend a longer time enjoying the area with a DIY LOTR tour. Only worth the price if you are a serious LOTR movie fan.

Really fun tour for a LOTR fan! Saw several filming locations both from afar and up close (with correlating stills from the movies so you could tell what you were looking at). We had easy and timely pick up and drop off at our hotel in Queenstown. Joe was our driver and lead tour guide and he was fantastic! We got some little backstories and fun facts about the filming.

Nice tour. Bumpy ride with a lot of “hold on” moments. Learned a lot about the movies and scenery was great. Bring bug spray along!

We did the lord of the rings scenery tour with Esther and got much more than we thought we would . Our guide was friendly knowledgeable and funny . The tour included river crossings and gold panning which was great fun. The scenery was amazing and we got kits of great photos. Esther went out of her way to make sure the whole group was catered for and interacting with one another. This is a great trip to do if you are interested in lord of the rings filming locations. A fantastic afternoon

Passionate guide makes this trip memorable. We saw Queenstown via air/water/earth.
This trip was a safari tour through rivers, off the side of cliffs, gold panning and a nice cup of tea on a river bed.
We really enjoyed our guide Joseph who was so passionate about LOTR and the Hobbit. Brought the scenes to life at the film locations.
We even reenacted Deagol’s find of the ring of power in the river used to film this scene.
What a way to end our 3 week filled adventure.

Our combo with Shotover Jet is a great way to experience both trips in a short time as Skippers Canyon (where we visit) is not far from the jetboat base.
