Select Date and Travelers
2 travelers
Join a scenic cruise to Walter Peak on board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw, departing from Queenstown. Upon arrival experience rural New Zealand as you're taken on a walking tour of the farm. Learn about traditional farming practices and the significance of the various animals. Watch sheep dogs in action and see a sheep shearing demonstration. Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea then stroll through the lakeside gardens before boarding the TSS Earnslaw and returning back to Queenstown.
  • A unique experience just outside of Queenstown
  • Maritime history buffs will love the lake cruise on a vintage steamer
  • Visit farm animals and try sheep-shearing and wool-spinning
  • Spend a low-key morning or afternoon outdoors
What to Expect
Your scenic cruise by vintage ship begins at the steamer wharf in Queenstown, where you board the TSS Earnslaw—one of the only passenger-carrying steamships in the southern hemisphere—for a cruise across Lake Wakatipu. An onboard pianist plays old tunes during the journey. Check out the ship's original steam engines or the historical displays. Upon arrival to the Walter Peak High Country Farm, enjoy tea and homemade snacks or baked goods. Wander through the lakeside gardens and head to the farmyard for a tour. See resident sheep, cattle, deer, and goats, as well as a sheep-dog demonstration. After some expert demonstrations, try your hand at sheep-shearing and wool-spinning. Get back on the boat for the journey back to Queenstown, and get dropped off at the wharf.

Relaxing day trip. The farm is beautiful, amazing view along the cruise. The afternoon tea was nice. It’d be better if there is more interaction with animals.
