We were only in Dunedin for one day and this tour gave us a good overview of the area. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and did his best to entertain us, even though the weather was not very nice on this particular day so the views weren't great or even visible. We only got to see one sleeping female seal, but it was still a good way to spend half a day.

Hi khowlettt, Thanks for your feedback. Heavy rain is a real challenge when your a tour guide. The night before your trip we knew it was coming and prepared as best we could, all our bus windows were wiped down with de-fogging wipes and our guides understood the challenge that lay before them. The rain that day was relentless. Combined with the low level fog visibility was only a few metres! On these types of days many would just read a book in front of the fire, but you got out and about and had a real authentic Dunedin experience! All the best.

This was a small group. We made many stops for picture opportunities. We had a very informative guide and we were lucky enough to see wildlife. He dropped us off in the city at our request so we could enjoy our few hours we had left before boarding our ship.

We were met at the cruise terminal which was too easy. Everything was on time. I think our guide was Marty. He was amazing. Full of information. He took us to an extra stop which was fantastic and unexpected. The tour was nice a small as suggested which makes it much nicer. This was our first port of call on our cruise and it’s was effortless and a really great day. By far the best part and the kids couldn’t believe it was whilst walking along the beach a sea lion rode a wave in and came right up to us on the beach we were amazed at how lucky we were to witness that. Thankyou again for an amazing half day trip.

Hi Jondie88, One of the main concerns cruise ship passengers have is where do they meet us when they disembark - this review will hopefully reassure people that its pretty easy here in Dunedin. Infact, we made a short video on our web-site recently to show how easy it was:) I'll pass this on to Marty, we're so glad that Sea-Lion surfed that wave for you and made your kids day! You make your own luck in this world, thanks for coming out with us. Haste Ye Back!

We had visited Dunedin before but wanted to see more than just the city. Opted for this half day tour and Chris was our guide. Started with areas in the city such as Baldwin Street and the station before going onto the peninsular to see sea lions and birds. Chris pointed out areas of interest and gave us bags of information during the tour. We stopped for photo opportunities at various points. Great half day tour and felt we saw much of what Dunedin had to offer.

Wow - not only was the scenery on the Otago Peninsula amazing, so was our guide - Dave. He provided such a unique perspective of the area combining history, how local people interpret nature and even how to survive on Survivor. He also successfully managed the expectations of grandparents, parents and teenagers (the hardest of all). He would have been one of the best guides any of us have ever encountered on our travels. Highly recommend Back to Nature.

Love this small group tour. We had about 12-14 people in our tour, the van was comfortable. Chris was our guide, he is very knowledgeable. The nature in NZ is beautiful., we really enjoyed the Otago peninsula scenery and the sea lions . Highly recommend this tour for those who wants to see the nature. Chris gave us the option to drop us in Dunedin town after the 4 hour tour, we did our own sightseeing in Dunedin downtown. Took the local bus for NZ6 each back to the wharf. Cruiseship charged 15 return trip to Dunedin town. Very nice tour to visit Dunedin.

Organised our own shore excursion through the company itself. Easy booking process, good communication in the lead up. They even changed our tour without any fuss when our cruise ship had an itinerary change.
We were picked up from the cruise dock and had a great guide who was very informative. Gave us plenty of opportunities for photos.
We got to see a seal pup playing in the water and a few sea lions on the beach.
Our guide even stopped in Dunedin and allowed us to do a little shopping before going back to Port Chalmers. Really enjoyable day.
