About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 757brucef0 contributionsExcellent tour with friendly knowledgeable local guideThe tour was amazing. Our guide Phil was extremely knowledgeable about the area and we had an absolute blast on our trip in Wellington. As we had limited time in the city, we had opted for the half day tour but after our tour we wished we had taken the full day tour instead. Couldn't recommend Zozo Travel enough !Written October 31, 2024
- Travellingisliving830 contributionsGreat company, excellent guides! A fantastic day out!I did 2 tours with Zozo. One around Wellington and the coastline with Gary on one day, and the half day Martinborough wine tour with Michael. I had so much fun both days, and they are both great guides. Lots of fun, very informative, interesting commentary and safe drivers. I loved hearing their stories. Our buses had a fantastic time. As a solo traveller I often do day tours, and these are very reasonably priced, and a good day out. Highly recommend :)Written October 28, 2024
- NomadicSandra0 contributionsGreat overview of Wellington!!!We got to see so much of Wellington, more than I imagined we would. The Weta cave was interesting and we enjoyed the lunch stop & was so happy it was included in your. Gary was very engaging and stopped at lots of beautiful beach & view points for great pictures. I left my purse in the van and he was kind enough to return it to our cruise port before our ship left. Highly recommend this tour.Written October 27, 2024
- D3104GBiane0 contributionsPinot heaven! Our guide Simon was knowledgeable and fun. The scenery on the journey to Martinborough was stunning. The three wineries were all very different and the place we stopped for lunch served delicious and plentiful foodWritten October 19, 2024

- Sue C0 contributionsWhat a day! This was the best value for money tour I have ever experienced. Fabulous and knowledgeable guide Simon, was a delight and only too happy to go above and beyond. Three winery stops, amazing lunch at Moy Hall - the food was to die for - and learned so much from the local hosts. Loved the humerous antidotes. Very much recommend.Written October 16, 2024
- geoffandboby0 contributionsMartinborough excellenceWe had a great day out. Simon our driver was knowledgeable and friendly. Moy hall where we had lunch, the food was excellent however the wine tasting got a bit lost and I felt it was rushed in between the food. But the food made it worthwhile. Simon added an extra of coffee at a cheese shop which was very pleasing. A great day in all and worth the $ as it’s not an easy drive over the rimutaka’sWritten October 13, 2024
- iangK7065SS0 contributionsBest way to spend a day in Martinborough out of WellingtonWhat a magnificent day! Michael, our host and driver, made us feel so welcome. He knew his stuff, and how to handle the van over the mountain roads without scaring anyone :) Can't speak highly enough of Zozo, Moy Hall Winery, Poppies Winery, C'est Cheese and Schoc Chocolates. So glad we decided to do this tour!Written October 13, 2024

The highlight of our Wellington visit was meeting up with Philip who drove us to the Wairapa visiting so many interesting places. Although every one was a gem in its own right we especially enjoyed Poppies Vineyard with its gourmet lunch and exquisite wines. Cape Palliser was outstanding with the lighthouse a sentinel over the rugged coastline. Thank you Philip for such a memorable trip.

If I could rate Zozo travel higher I would. We dealt with Phillip, the owner, in planning our trip, enjoyed his company as our guide, and could not be more pleased! Since we live in the USA and he is in NewZealand Phillip suggested WhatsApp for direct communication and payment. It worked beautify. We were able to personalize our private tour to get in everything we wanted. Our trip was via cruise ship, so we were very limited on time. He was constantly aware of how long it takes from each point to make sure we were back in plenty of time to board our ship. He continually pointed out places of interest and filled us in on New Zealand facts. He even made an unplanned stop so my son-in-law and grandson could get all black rugby jerseys. We would highly recommend him and his tours. He was easy to work with and very organized.

We had the absolute pleasure of joining the Wine and Wild Coast tour, and it was an experience we won't soon forget. From the moment we set off, we were captivated by the stunning scenery and the warm hospitality of our guide, Phil.
The tour itself was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. We explored the picturesque vineyards of Martinborough, sampling a variety of delicious wines, chocolates and cheese. Lunch at Poppies was amazing!
Phil's knowledge and passion for the region were evident, making each stop even more enjoyable.
The rugged cliffs, and the iconic Cape Palliser lighthouse were simply breathtaking. Phil's insights into the local history and culture added an extra layer of depth to the experience.
Phil was friendly, informative, accommodating and always went the extra mile to ensure we had a fantastic time.
If you're looking for a day filled with stunning scenery, delicious wine, and unforgettable experiences, we highly recommend the Wine and Wild Coast tour. It's a must-do for anyone visiting Wellington.

We were collected from our hotel by owner Phil in a very comfortable Mercedes minibus. Off to Kaitoke National Park- with its suspension bridge and a wet rain forest walk. Phil knows his stuff, and I almost strained my neck getting photos of the tall timber and epiphytes. Then up over the range (with a photo stop at the top) to C'est Cheese in Featherston for a tasting (magnificent!). Then to Greytown for a blind tasting of chocolate at Shoc choc ( even better!!). With the taste of chocolate figuratively still in your mouth it's into Poppies at Martinborough for a tasting, then to have a shared vinyard platter ( and more wine) for lunch. The scenery is magnificent & Phil's knowledge and presentation filled any gaps. We were to drive east to see fur seals and the Cape Pallister lighthouse, returning to Lake Ferry for dinner. "Best laid plans.." etc saw a possibly fatal car accident blocking the one road in and out of those destinations, so Phil came up with a plan B, which took us to Muirlea Rise vinyard, home of Shaun the winemaker, and some magnificent fortified wine served with a wicked sense of humour. Then to Blue Earth Estate to walk amongst the Olive Grove, fruit trees and vinyard with owner Margaret and taste their Gold Medal winning extra Virgin Olive Oil and wine. Who knew such a beautiful place could be created from a sheep paddock by 2 dedicated people. Then back to Featherston to the Royal Hotel for a very pleasant dinner, and home to our Hotel. We had a magnificent day, and while Phil was disappointed that he was unable to give us the brochure tour, Plan B may possibly have been better - we'll have to wait for the net time to find out. By the way, the other guests on the tour ( fellow Aussies) where on their second trip with Phil's company, having so much enjoyed their first 6 months before.

This was my third trip with Phil and it just gets better and better each time. He tailors the day around what wineries would be most appealing, remembers what I like to drink (all the Pinot gris), puts up with my constant demands to see dogs at some point during the day. Phil goes above and beyond to provide a great day out for his guests.
Book this tour, you won’t regret it.
Few things to note:
- The stairs to the lighthouse are evil but it’s over in max 10 mins, if I can do it, so you can too.
- If you want to take good pics of the 100s of seals you will see, take a decent camera, all my seal pics came out looking like rocks on my iPhone.
- The food at Moy Hall is incredible, don’t snack too much in the morning as you’ll ruin your appetite for lunch.
Thanks Phil for another great trip!

Fantastic day out! Phil was an excellent tour guide and driver. We walked on a swing bridge, saw some Kahikatea trees, enjoyed some mountain views, visited a cheese shop, tasted and guessed over 12 flavours of chocolate, some of which were very unique! Lunch was delicious at Poppies vineyard. Wine tasting was fun too. The Wairarapa coast was breath-taking and we saw so many seal pups playing in the natural pools. Phil certainly knows the best spots to view them. Next stop was Cape Palliser lighthouse and a steep 258 steps challenge up to the lighthouse. It was definitely worth it for the fabulous coastal views. Dinner was another delicious meal at a Featherston restaurant, which was recently patronised by Ed Sheeran!
I thoroughly enjoyed the day and highly recommend this tour. Thanks Phil!

This tour is absolutely phenomenal! We had an amazing day with Phil, and three other ladies on this trip. The trip is packed with lots of different activities and sights to see, but our guide Phil did an amazing job at keeping us on schedule, without making things feel rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate tasting and the stop at the winery, where we enjoyed a delicious platter for lunch and some great wines! The dinner was also wonderful and was so nice to be able to select an a-la-carte menu item and an alcoholic beverage. Phil has a great sense of humour and is extremely knowledgable, providing us with lots of great information and laughs throughout the trip. Driving all the way out to Cape Palliser Lighthouse was a highlight of our vacation and something that we would have never visited, had we not been on this tour! We loved our tour so much that we booked the 5 hour Wellington tour with Phil the following day and enjoyed it as well! I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone visiting Wellington that is looking for a great day of adventure, food, and beautiful sights! Thank you so much for making our time in Wellington so memorable Phil!

A really lovely tour! Paul was very knowledgable, and gave some great recommendations on other places to visit. The small group size made it feel more personal too.
A great whistle stop tour, which gives you a little bit of everything in Cape Palliser and Masterton!

This is the absolute best tour if you are staying in Wellington! It includes a lunch stop and tasting at the best winery in Martinborough with a gourmet food platter. Excellent wine quality at a small production grower. The stops included Lord of the Rings Rivendell and a trip to Cape Pallister on the southern coast of the North Island wheee you can climb to the lighthouse. Stunning views throughout the day. We also visited a chocolate maker and cheese purveyor for tastings on our journey. Finally a lovely dinner at a restored hotel before returning to Wellington. A long day but incredible experience. Phil, who is the owner was just awesome with incredible local knowledge and a keen sense of humor! Highly recommended!!
