We were originally scheduled to just do Rotorua, but when she heard how much we also wanted to see Hobbiton she got right on the phone and miraculously managed to get us two tickets. We got the full experience with Rotorua and Hobbiton, with Wendy’s wonderful knowledge and stories interspersed throughout the trip. We highly recommend working with Wendy instead of all of those cookie cutter tours out there. You won’t regret it.

We toured Rotorua and had a lovely stop for lunch before heading over to Te Puia. She was a wealth of knowledge about the area including the history and culture (past and present). At Te Puia she explained what to expect and made accommodations for us when one family member had unique needs. She was fun and friendly and we all had a great time despite the rain, rain, rain. - jadeandme00Great fun!Tauranga is a beautiful place surrounded by beaches and only a short drive out of town. We had lots of fun with Wendy as she showed us her home town. She was great with my young daughter and the Kiwi Ice-cream at the end was the perfect end to our tour!

We were a party of 7 family members and we were pleased to spend a great day with Wendy. She was a friendly person who made our visit to Rotorua and surrounds a great day. It was targeted to our preferences.
We were very disappointed with the Maori Concert. It was simply not worth the extra $45 to see. It went for less than 25 minutes and was amateurish in the extreme.

Recently, my family had a fantastic day tour with Wendy when our cruise ship was in Tauranga. We explored Hobbiton and Rotorua, where we did the Luge and went to a thermal mud pool park. We also stopped in at a family run kiwi farm and ate delicious kiwi ice cream. Wendy went above and beyond to give us a great day out! She was very informative throughout the tour and was super organised and punctual. We had a great experience with Wendy and highly recommend her for a private tour when in Tauranga.

We arranged the tour online and Wendy met as at our cruise boat dock, perfectly on schedule. It was delightful to spend a wonderful day touring the countryside and visiting Hobbiton. She took care of everything and all we did was show up. As an added bonus we stopped by a honey store for a sample and view of active bees. Wendy is great company and knows the area well. She provided insightful commentary and is very pleasant to be with. Look forward to a return visit.

We too arranged the tour online and communication with Wendy was excellent. She was waiting for us as we exited our cruise boat dock, and the beginning of the tour was a drive along Mt Maunganui Main Beach (with photo stops). We then visited the Redwoods followed by time in Te Puia (where Wendy made sure that we saw everything) and a drive around Rotorua. Wendy was very knowledgeable and keen to make sure that we really enjoyed our tour (which we did!).

Wendy took my family on a lovely drive from the cruise centre for a day out to Rotorua. We saw the beautiful beaches at Tauranga. The highlight for us was to see the Pohutu Geyser, visit the Māori art school. Because of our food concerns, Wendy recced a wonderful lunch place for us at Macs. The last surprise she had for us was a visit to an avocado farm where we met the very warm and welcoming Gary the owner and learnt about Hass and Reed avocados. She then brought us safely back to our boat. Wendy was excellent - taking care of our particular needs, esp for my MIL. Thank you Wendy for a wonderful visit.

We were originally scheduled for a tour of the Rotorua area with Grumpy's Tours but the day before the Grumpy's guide was injured, so, fortunately for us, Wendy kindly stepped in.
Wendy picked us up at our accommodation, Solitaire Lodge, 20 minutes outside Rotorua in her Mercedes van. The sights we saw were in order: Wai-O-Tapu Boiling Mud Pool, Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, Agrodome Sheep Show, lunch at a nice Rotorua restaurant, the Redwoods Walk, a driving tour of Rotorua, Wendy's tour of the principal attractions of Te Puia (geyser, kiwi house, Maori Village, afternoon cultural show and the workshops) and the Blue and Green Lakes.
That's a lot do do in a single day but Wendy kept everything moving along efficiently but comfortably (e.g., she got us to the front of the line at Wai-O-Tapu; she allowed us all the time we wanted in the gift shops at the Agrodome and Te Puia).
Above all, she was professional and informative. She made all the sites interesting for us. She's also a very nice person and fun to spend time with. I recommend her unreservedly to anyone who wishes to tour Rotorua.

Recently I had a tour with Wendy taking myself and some friends to Rotorua. We had a fabulous day sightseeing and could not have asked for better service! Wendy made sure we visited all the sights we had discussed and more, as she did not want us to miss out on some of her special favourite places. I would highly recommend Independent Tours as we liked having the van to ourselves for flexibility, and Wendy is a fabulous, fun, friendly guide.
