This was an exciting thrill ride on the river to the falls. The boat flies across the water barely missing the river banks, rocks and other obstacles doing wild 360 degree spins. You make several passes right where the falls plunge into the river. Great explanations from the driver of the sites where you stop for a few minutes on the trip. Other than the spins, the boat is very stable - you won't get seasick or tossed from the boat, but you will get a little wet (not soaking wet - more your head and seat). Combine this activity with a morning cruise to the Maori rock carvings for a great savings and a fun day (see Maori rock carving & Jet Boat combo).

I loved every second of this 30 minute jet boat ride up and down the beautiful blue Waikato River. Arthur was a top pilot & guide (I sat up the front with him and held on tight!) and we got up to some decent speeds on the water (it sure got my adrenaline pumping). We did at least 10 x 360 spins which were epic & got everyone screaming (the perfect fun to fear ratio!). There was some commentary on the way covering landmarks along the river (you go up to Aratiatia dam) & the ride culminated in a trip to the base of Huka Falls where we got right up into all the foam & whitewash. We saw some native tui birds in the trees as well. It was a chilly day in Taupo and my face was freezing by the end but I wouldn’t change a thing (all part of the NZ experience). Thanks to the team for a great edge of your seat jet boat ride!
P.s. charging for the photos was milking it - for the price paid ($139) 1 or 2 photos could have been made available on the Facebook page for the riders.

We really enjoyed our jet boat trip. Arthur was a brilliant pilot, spinning the boat 360⁰ lots of times and giving us all an exhilarating ride. He was also very professional & we felt safe in his hands. His informative commentary was excellent! The trip is expensive but worth it. I agree with other comments that digital photos could be included at this price. Highly recommended 👍

Brilliant! We have done lots of jet boats rides as we love it! This one was right up there 🙂 Scott was an amazing driver and kept us exhilarated with the spins etc. It was spectacular being able to get up close to the Falls and hear some history. Yes we had to keep masks on but who cares, we still bought the photos as you can't get photos like those yourself 📷 The shop is amazing and prices so good, wouldn't find those kind of prices in Queenstown!!! We were pleased we supported this local business, well done guys for having friendly staff...nothing was a problem👍

Was absolutely brilliant. Lovely and incredibly skilled person driving the boat and loved that they gave a heads up before the spins. Such a cool, exhilarating experience. Loved seeing Huka Falls from that perspective.
It is very expensive, and I get that it's a tourist attraction but as there are no international tourists I feel like the prices should be lowered. We paid nearly $100 dollars for 30 mins. We also had to wear masks on the boat, which although I get why, it was frustrating trying to keep them on even with the mask-sleave thing they give you to keep it in place. And the photos were ruined because of them - and it was like $70 to get those photos. No one was buying them in our group.

From the first interaction with Phil at the desk, we were beyond impressed with his quick wit, and dry humor ... and were more than happy to book.
Phil was also our jet boat operator. The level of skill he has was exhilarating as he maneuvered the jet side ways, into spins, and delivering knowledge of the area.
Phil is certainly an asset to the team, and we'd most certainly recommend the ride.

We LOVED this ride, it is high speed, lots of spins and thrills navigating obstacles in the river. It was wonderful to see the stretch of river between the Aratiatia dam and Huka falls, the falls themselves were a real highlight, it was great to get so close. People of all ages were in our boat and everyone looked like they were having a blast. Our driver was skilled and humourous and really added value to the trip.
We’ve done a few jet boat trips in different locations and this is one of our favourites. It isn’t cheap, but we felt we got value for money and would do it again. Having done this and the Rapids jet boat in Taupo on a previous visit - this one is far superior.b

Made a last minute decision to do the jet boat ride with 3 adults a 3 kids under 13. All operators, from payment, the photographer and person giving coats and life jackets were friendly, efficient and professional. Our driver Steve was great, good sense of humour and we got some local information about the area. Would definitely recommend to others, it was worth every cent. We brought the USB photo pack which enabled us to share photos and a video.

Awesome experience - you are having too much fun to be scared!
We were a group with kids ( 8 years +) and adults and everyone loved it.
It was great to get right up to the falls, the spins were so much fun and the scenery spectacular, plus our boat driver (pictured but can’t remember her name sorry) was a great tour guide too.
You can take your phone and take photos but put it in run belt or something similar as you need two hands to be holding on!
Ps Those on the outside get the wettest but it’s part of the fun.

For two over 70's this was an out and out adrenalin rush. What the hell you only live once. A brilliant experience. Highly recommended even for younger adrenalin junkies. Our driver was most entertaining as well as being an absolute mental case.

This sounds like an awesome thing to do! Just wondering if it's suitable for my husband and I as we are in our 60's?
Thanks

Yes I would say so. I am 57 with a knee problem and had no issue. So long as you can have a good grip to hold the bar in front of you in the boat for the spins you will be fine.

Hello,
Just following up on some of your reviews. Two questions:
Is it possible a group of 3 gets cancelled if there’s not a 4th?
And does the boat driver ever kill or scare any wildlife when avoidable?
Thank you
